UGA Looking to Schedule Michigan in the Future?
It looks as though the Georgia Athletic Department has started to look towards the midwest for a future home-and-home series, and Michigan is a school that they've preliminarily reached out to.
Preliminary discussions have taken place with Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State about the prospect of one or more of them scheduling a home-and-home Georgia in the future, UGA athletics director Greg McGarity confirmed to Dawgs247.
None of those four possible opponents mentioned have ever played a game in Sanford Stadium, and only one of them – Michigan – has ever appeared on UGA’s regular season schedule. The Bulldogs have visited Ann Arbor twice in their history, losing 26-0 in 1957 and winning 15-7 in 1965.

YES, PLEASE.

You want a piece of me? Bring it. Would be another bulldog Michigan ragdolls.

Awesome. Love home and home scheduling. Wish that would have happened with Bama...
December 19th, 2010 at 12:57 PM ^
My bad.
But I hope we schedule Georgia. That would be a fun series.
December 19th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
Maybe they'll just stay as bad as they are now, forever! That would be keen.
December 19th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
I still think it would've been cool to get georgia in the gator bowl
December 19th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
Time to keep on adding to our record against the SEC.

I sat with Georgia fans at the ASU Georgia game three years ago. They are a great group of fans; I would love to see Michigan play betwixt the hedges.
December 19th, 2010 at 6:12 PM ^
Disagree, kind of. I date a girl who went to GaTech... and well... let's just say UGA fans bark at you... it's really awkward. That said, it's probably their "Walmart" fans who do that.. i hope.
I'll admit though that Athens is a cool place to watch a game, although Sanford stadium (to me) was a little underwhelming. The field is alright, but the facilities kind of seem like they need to be renovated. It's not designed well at all. (e.g. Concession stand lines block you from navigating to another section.)

Some of my friends are season-ticket holders at UGa. I always have a good time when I go to Athens for a game.

Uga I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, or VIII?
December 19th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
says it's not IX, but she's not sure if it's X or something in the I-VIII range.
December 19th, 2010 at 2:47 PM ^
It's UGA v.8.0

looks good
December 19th, 2010 at 1:52 PM ^
back out later when it is time for them to actually travel?

Get OSU to pay for airfare

Seems the last ten years or so Michigan AD has been hesitant to schedule non-conference games way far in advance, which led to debacles like The Horror, Delaware State, and UMass.
It is good to see Michigan getting on board with some solid scheduling discussions for the future. Seems that it would be good for recruiting and continued long-term prestige of the program.

as I am currently only 2 hours from their stadium and one of my buddies down here is a Dawg fan.
December 19th, 2010 at 2:17 PM ^
Georgia fans seem pretty decent, and they have a really cool stadium. I love Uga. Always wanted a Bulldog, but they have a lot of health problems.
December 19th, 2010 at 2:47 PM ^
Could be worse. French Bulldogs have been bred to emphasize genetic attributes that have since rendered them virtually unable to reproduce without artificial insemination and c-section delivery.
By comparison, English Bulldogs are doing just fine.

I just had a flashback to the dog crap/grooming thread from last year...Yikes!

News like this is why we need to make the Notre Dame series happen every other year. I'd love to schedule new teams, but I don't know if its realistic for major programs to only schedule seven home games a year.
December 19th, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
With the Big Ten schedule the way it now is, scheduling more than one major out of conference game on a home and home basis is increasingly unlikely. I would gladly swap out ND regularly for a great out of region match-up like Georgia.
December 19th, 2010 at 5:34 PM ^
Good point. I agree we should go to an every other year. Heck, we could even go to every two years and play a Home and Home with another conference. I would like to get a couple ACC teams in. Like a NC State or Clemson. That would help out our recruiting in some power states.
December 19th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
They could schedule it such that we played @ND vs. UGA one year, then vs. ND & @UGA. Beat the best (and ND) to be the best.

You have been on a roll lately with excellent, content-full, news-breaking, non-CC-making, jabroni-beating, threads lately. If you smell what I'm cooking, keep up the good work.
December 19th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
Also, I concur. Keep up the good work, DG. It is appreciated.
December 19th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
Even if you can't smell it, feel free to continue the good work.

It's been a good week

Can we please play some real football teams before the Big Ten schedule hits? I mean lighting up Bowling Green was fun and all, but I'd like to start preparing to win some Big Ten titles, and being in a fight early in the year would only aid that cause. UGA wouldn't be bad, and doing a home and home with someone from the Pac 10 would be pretty cool.
December 20th, 2010 at 10:17 AM ^
but it just seems we schedule so far out and it is difficult to predict who will be competitive in the 3-5 year future. Teams in the SEC may have 3 year swings, but the middle tear teams have a difficult time rising to the top and staying there for a long time.
That said, I do really like the Alabama game on the horizon. If our team (coach too) stays intact, that game will be highlight city and will do wonders for recruiting.
December 19th, 2010 at 2:46 PM ^
I'd be all in favor of cutting back ND to once every three or four years. I love good intersectional matchups, and it'd be fantastic to play between the hedges.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:10 PM ^
Absolutely agree!
December 19th, 2010 at 2:50 PM ^
Are we forming our own double secret super conference without formally announcing it? My goodness our schedule in the future is going to something to behold.
Maybe DB knows a playoff is coming in football and wants us to have the #1 slot in strength of schedule.

Proud were NOT using the WISKY template. I hate it that Wisconsin plays weak teams prior to the Big Ten goes undefeated and unnoticed. Though they played ASU this year, that seems to be the exception. On the other hand, if ND gets good again..adding teams like Georgia, 'Bama, along with NEB (in the big ten) to MSU,OSU,IOWA, occasionally PSU and Wisc could make for a brutal schedule. Could be tough, but I'd rather win a title the way we did in 97, then to win it on a soft schedule.
December 19th, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
It'd be awesome if we pull this off.
December 19th, 2010 at 3:32 PM ^
UGA would be a great addition to the Michigan schedule.
They've had some rough seasons, but they have a great fan-base and a prestigious tradition.
Plus, it'd be great to make an SEC team come up north. Too bad it couldn't be a late-season game.
December 19th, 2010 at 4:25 PM ^
would be in the Big House if UGA comes over to play Michigan.
December 19th, 2010 at 7:58 PM ^
because he would have that sunday off due to some type of injury
December 19th, 2010 at 4:35 PM ^
I already know the way to Athens!
December 19th, 2010 at 5:26 PM ^
This would be an amazing series...but anyone have a clue when they are thinking?
December 19th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
The article says their existing series with Clemson ends in 2014. They had a series with Oregon for 2015-2016 cancelled so maybe then?
December 19th, 2010 at 5:40 PM ^
This is the UGA that ate the other UGAs
December 19th, 2010 at 5:52 PM ^
would help cement our pipeline in the south. And it would be awesome to see a new rivalry start up, too.
December 19th, 2010 at 6:56 PM ^
with Georgia would be great for Michigan. That should be a great series if it happens
December 19th, 2010 at 7:09 PM ^
Yes please.
(I would travel to this game - already have a home and away worked out with a Nebraska fan)
