First Monday night game in Detroit in nearly a decade and they're not even playing. Weird.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
Depending on the price of tickets, I might have to go to this.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:02 PM ^
I'd like to see New York's fearsome 3 DEs hit Favre repeatedly. I hope he plays.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
Yeah, if tickets are cheap I might go. Otherwise, I don't care about the inferior Manning and a washed up Favre.
December 12th, 2010 at 2:02 PM ^
Those with tickets to original game get 50yrd line prority seating and general admission is free. Go to Ford Field Ticket office starting at 8am for tickets.
December 12th, 2010 at 4:21 PM ^
throws to the one and only Manningham. And isn't Hutchinson still on Minny's OL?
Wear your Big Chill gear and they'll let you in for free.
Gotta watch David Harris vs. Chad Henne (and Braylon and Jake) now.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
Chances are tickets will be free. Even better.
December 12th, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
I happened to be in Tempe in 2003 when the Chargers had to relocate a home game to Sun Devil Stadium because of San Diego wildfires. Admission was free and there were still plenty of empty seats on a beautiful evening. I'm not sure how well that precedent might apply here.
December 12th, 2010 at 10:51 PM ^
Tickets are free. "Sales" start at 9 AM
December 12th, 2010 at 12:03 PM ^
Maybe Jim Herrmann will do an impromptu defensive coordinator interview? Wishful thinking
December 12th, 2010 at 9:43 PM ^
please don't take me to the pickle farm!
December 12th, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
I live about four blocks from there so I might take my family depending on how much the tickets are.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
Wow. A co-worker of mine here in Cleveland was raised in Long Island and really wanted to go to the game this weekend. Except his wife threw a fit (he travels during the week) so he gave in and didn't go. And tomorrow he's got a sales call in Detroit of all places.
I think I'm going to have him buy me a lottery ticket.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:12 PM ^
are a cool friend, way to help a co-worker out. Sweet!!!!!!!!!
December 12th, 2010 at 12:13 PM ^
I really want to go now, especially if old man favre plays... It's gonna be nice to see some good professional football for once
December 12th, 2010 at 12:34 PM ^
Weather will be brutal getting in & out, but I can be bought.

NFL and Vikings discussing giving away tickets to Monday night's 7:20 game in Detroit for free on first-come, first-serve basis.
When wildfires swept through SD, and Chargers-Dolphins was moved to Tempe, Az., those tickets given away for free. Same could happen here.
From Adam Schefter's twitter.

I shouldn't complain--I'm all for an extra event in Detroit--but why wouldn't they do this at the Gophers' new stadium?
December 12th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
1) The Gophers' stadium has been shut down for the winter, so it would take a couple days to get it ready
2) The Giants didn't bring their cold weather gear, which would be necessary given the -30 windchill in Minneapolis currently
December 12th, 2010 at 1:24 PM ^
-30 windchill
Back in my day I used to walk 5 miles up and down hills to school through 5ft of snow, with wind chills of -40. Do you think I ever complained? No, because I dressed warm like this.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:51 PM ^
The Giants did not bring their "cold gear" with them to Minnesota because they expected to be playing indoors.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:54 PM ^
The Giants didn't travel with gear for an outdoor game, and they didn't feel the capacity of the Gopher's venue was enough in the end. Most importantly Fox already has a crew stationed, and set up in Detroit for the Lions game.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:51 PM ^
Free GA tickets will be available at the Ford Field Box office tomorrow morning at 9am
December 12th, 2010 at 12:51 PM ^
Is so weird. It almost looks fake.
December 12th, 2010 at 12:53 PM ^
mxair23 already stated this, but here's the language from the Vikings' website:
Any ticket holders for the original Giants-Vikings game will be admitted and given preferred seating along the 50-yard line. Free general admission tickets to the game will be available at the Ford Field box office beginning at 8:00 a.m. CST [9am EST].
December 12th, 2010 at 6:11 PM ^
You'd have to be some kind of diehard to travel from Minnesota to Detroit in this awful weather (and have to take off work tomorrow) on a day's notice. Those guys should get free t-shirts.
December 12th, 2010 at 1:11 PM ^
I saw a tweet but can't find confirmation that ticket stubs from today's lion's game can be used to gain enterance to the game as well.
December 12th, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
This would be perfect if I didn't have work from 10 to 1 tomorrow. Should I...?
- Email my boss and tell her I will be late
- Assume they won't give away all of them by 2-2:30, which is the soonest I could get there after work if I skip class
- Be very angar at myself and just watch on TV
December 12th, 2010 at 1:38 PM ^
Hmmmmm.... what could go wrong?
December 12th, 2010 at 1:55 PM ^
damn it. I have to proctor the chem 125/126 final tomorrow night...oh well.
December 12th, 2010 at 1:58 PM ^
I'm thinking about going and bringing some fun signs:
Brett Favre knows how to use a cell phone
No one cares about Brett Favre
Brett Favre takes pictures of his own penis (although this one would get me kicked out, I'm sure.)
December 12th, 2010 at 3:01 PM ^
Bringing in a homemade "No one cares about Brett Favre" sign would only work on an ironic level.
December 12th, 2010 at 3:43 PM ^
+1 for awesome.
December 12th, 2010 at 5:17 PM ^
God wanted me to have a great sports weekend. I took Monday off of work because I was going to the Big Chill, then the Lions game today, and since I had a ticket to todays game, I can go to the game tomorrow without having to wait in line for free tickets. Thank you baby jesus!
December 12th, 2010 at 10:29 PM ^
anyone know the rules for this? Is there a limit to the number of tickets they'll give to one person? If I have a friend try and pick up three tickets is that going to be kosher? are they going to limit it to one per person?
December 12th, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
Given the incredibly short timeframe involved, I doubt they'd be too picky. They just want a full stadium. I'm curious to know what the tickets will look like.
