Wasn't there a story that was supposed to come out today about Auburn paying a current freshman?

I've used the BTN live sream outside the US and it works really well. It's very clear with very little lag (I guess it depends on your connection speed). I do not regret spending my money on it at all.

Interesting idea, but how

Interesting idea, but how much free time would the athletes have to devote to this? I mean if you take into account the hours they put into the sport and the hours they put into school, do they have enough time for work-study?

I don't think there's any

I don't think there's any way Jesse actually brought himself to kill Gail, but if he didn't fire that shot at him, then why the hell did he fire the gun?  What could he have been shooting at?

My first thought was: maybe he was shooting at Victor who had climbed through a window? But, Vince Gilligan says that they didn't mean for the ending to be ambiguous and that Jesse actually did shoot Gail. If Walter and Jesse are going to get out of this predicament and go against Gustavo, then they might join the Cartel. Or else, why would they show Mike killing a bunch of cartel members in the beginning?

If you haven't done so

If you haven't done so already, mgoblue.com has a liveblog where you can congratulate the gymnastics team. It's a pretty cool idea. http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-gym/spec-rel/041710aab.html

Unfortunately, there isn't a baseball package on www.bigtennetwork.com that I'm aware of. They do have basketball and football packages by conference, team, or sport available on www.bigtenticket.com though. I guess that means they don't think there will be enough demand for streamed baseball games that they can justify with a package deal. Or they could just be testing the water and may offer a package deal later on.

That is probably the worst analysis you'll read in your life and I basically have no idea, sorry.

You probably already know

You probably already know about this service, but I'll tell you just in case you don't. You can get Michigan baseball games on www.bigtennetwork.com for $2.99 per game. Sure you have to pay, but if you have no other choice I guess you should go for it.

The BBC also ran a story

The BBC also ran a story today on the news claiming that historians discovered that Shakespeare was French rather than English. They had an interview with a French guy and everything to make it sound plausible.

Honey Bunches of Oats with

Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds is the bee's knees!

Interesting fact: They first tried calling it Battle Creek Cereal because they made it in Battle Creek, MI.

EDIT: Oreo O's used to be the best before they discontinued it.

Does this mean it won't also

Does this mean it won't also be streamed live on mgoblue.com like it was last year?

I just sent that video to a friend of mine who's applying to med school this year. I don't think he'll want to be a dermatologist after seeing this.

IIRC the weirdest bathroom

IIRC the weirdest bathroom was the one in the computer lab in the basement of the Union (not the Tapp room). It wasn't even on the same level of the lab's floor, it was about 1.5 feet above. Maybe it was left over from when the swimming pool was there. I think it was also really cramped inside.

Also, the bathroom in front of the elevators on the 1st floor of the Grad Library was horrible. It was so cramped inside that you couldn't even wash without getting some pee on yourself. Fun times!

Econ 320: Labor Economics.

Econ 320: Labor Economics. This guy is even worse than my previous nomination of Deardorff. Can't remember his name but he was Asian and I think he learned English like the day before class started.

He taught the class in Fall of '06. He taught us nothing about labor economics, instead he just kept trying to prove his own theories in class. He spent about 4 weeks of class time trying to explain why log functions smooth out a curve, which we already knew because we were all econ students. One month into the semester he dropped all the requirements in the syllabus and gave everyone B's. Before the final, he gave us a fixed curve and defined what an A would be, what a B would be, etc. But then proceeded to change his curve after the final and not answer any emails.

The fact that I forgot to mention this guy previously proves that he was so horrible that he became a repressed memory.

Alan Deardorff

Alan Deardorff. I feel bad for writing his name especially since Kuhn was worse, but I took Deardorff's Econ 340 class my first semester at Michigan and he would just put me out to sleep. I remember sleeping before he even started lecturing because I knew I was going to sleep anyways. All his exams were basically memorization and all he did was read his slides during lectures. Being a freshman, I didn't realize I could skip his class until there were only 3 weeks left of the semester.

http://www-personal.umich.edu/~alandear/courses/340/comments.html for student comments on his classes. It's pretty cool that he's that transparent though.

I took this class with prof.

I took this class with prof. Makin in Spring '08. I guess it would pretty easy if I had taken it during a normal semester, but taking an upper level writing class with tons of reading during the spring is not my idea of fun. Spring in Ann Arbor is way too nice to waste on learning.

401 was lame. I remember Kuhn

401 was lame. I remember Kuhn had this honors discussion that he personally taught. After the second midterm, these 2 kids from his honors discussion went up to him and said "We really enjoyed that exam. It should have been a bit harder though."

I never wanted to punch 3 people at the same time as much as I did then.

Kirsten Dunst face = Maggie

Kirsten Dunst face = Maggie Gyllenhaal (sp?) face

so definitely no

I took an excellent class

I took an excellent class with Professor Michael Makin in 2008 called Russia Today. It was an upper level writing class so there was a lot of reading, and I can recommend some to you.

Non-fiction:
1. Putin's Russia (a good account of Russia after Boris Yeltsin resigned)
2. Armageddon Averted (attempts to explain what caused the Soviet Union's collapse)

Fiction:
1. Homo Zapiens (amazing novel about modern Russia, too hard to explain, just read it)
2. Skunk: A Life (also very good, also really hard to explain)

Both the novels try to explain Russia's identity after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Also, if you're still a student in Michigan, I highly recommend Professor Makin's class.

I haven't played Farmville

I haven't played Farmville but, seeing that I need a cure for my depression, I might pick it up. I loved Harvest Moon on the N64 10+ years ago, how similar is Farmville to that?

That may be true. A lot of

That may be true. A lot of people say I'm a douchebag, but I don't see it.

Kind of like how scientists say that criminals think they're really smart, when they're not.

I'm from an entirely

I'm from an entirely different continent. I applied to Michigan only because of its academics. I knew nothing of their athletic departments. In fact, I hated American football like most other non-Americans do. I called soccer the "real football."

Now after graduating from Michigan, I spit on the institution that is soccer. I despise it. Michigan football all the way.

So, yes, I went to Michigan for the academics, but I wouldn't be complete without the athletics.

(Ok, soccer isn't that bad. Michigan football is just so much better)

Did you also know that men

Did you know that men can produce milk?

If that isn't disturbing, then I don't know what is.

I wouldn't recommend wearing something on your face thats been in your underwear.

Damn it...you beat me to the Clay Davis quote. Well at least I still enjoy these:

Actually, in the movie

Actually, in the movie "Coming to America," Eddie Murphy gives 2 homeless men a lot of money. It turns out that they're the Duke brothers and they shout "we're back!" I think they made a living off that money.

And yes, I stole that from Wikipedia.

EDIT: Props to the above, beaten to it.

Maynard House

I lived in Maynard House (it's not a house, its an apartment building) on 400 Maynard for 3 of my undergrad years. It's a bit on the expensive side but it is IMO one of the nicest places any student could live in while in Ann Arbor.

It's VERY close to campus; it's one block from State Street, above Cottage Inn, and it's right across the street from Tower Plaza. Electricity, heating, and water are included in the rent. The landlord and the rest of the building's staff are really nice. They have studios and 1 bedroom apt.s for rent, but demand is high because of location so few apt.s are vacant now.

Check www.postrealtyproperties.com for that property and others they own. Oh, and Tower Plaza isn't that bad either, but as the above poster said, NEVER live in U. Towers.

EDIT: You should also check out Corner House Apts. http://www.cmbmgmt.rentlinx.com/Property.aspx?PropertyID=1628 Not sure about how good the mgmt is but the apts were nice.

2009 you scary!

2009 has been one heck of a year. Just glad it's almost over. Dec. 31 is gonna be scary; the year might go out with a bang.

Blasphemy! The internet is

Blasphemy! The internet is Zoltan the Inconceivable's domain!

Check http://mgovideo.com/details.php?id=71

It's a torrent, but I don't know if it's the one you're talking about because I'm at work and I can't check it.

Good Point

But also keep in mind that good punters/kickers can get 2 or 3 stars, which may account for some of your 2 stars.

For example, Zoltan Mesko was a 3* on Rivals, which is inconceivable because he should have infinity stars. Pathetic humans, they know not what they do!

I've seen that picture quite a few times, however this is the first time I realize that the girl's (with the blue hat) t-shirt says "Squirrels 4 Heisman". My day has just been made.

This thread is making me

This thread is making me misty-eyed.

One of my favorite spots is the Martha Cook garden/field in front of Lorch. During the winter, I'd hurry to my Econ classes and the combination of the warm lights in Lorch, the snowed over Martha Cook field and that statue in the corner just warmed my day.

Damn, why did I graduate so early?

"You shouldered a heavy

"You shouldered a heavy burden this year Roh, and did it magnificently."

You can say he Roh's to the occasion!

You should try the Foster

You should try the Foster library. It's on the 2nd floor of Lorch hall, so it's just a bunch of Econ students. It's really quiet, has some computers, looks nice, and has cozy chairs. Although, it may not be open after 7 pm.

RR's interest in good 2011

RR's interest in good 2011 recruits before rivals/scout stars even come out shows us that the coaches really do know what they're doing. Not like you didn't know that already. I'm just saying...
