Charles Woodson's Heisman Trophy Celebration at Crisler
This topic is kind of out in left field, but I'm wondering if any of you were at Woodson's Heisman Trophy Celebration held at Crisler (back in '97).
A highlight video was played during the ceremony. The background music for the video was Sinatra's My Way. I know.... Woodson and Frank Sinatra? But it worked. It was an entertaining bit.
There's a verse in My Way that begins "Regrets, I've had a few." The clip in the video is where Woodson got beat by Boston and Boston is running backwards jawing at him. Then the next line in the song goes "But then again, too few to mention" and the video shows Woodson's interception in that game (I think).
I've searched around for this compilation a few times and it's as if the video never existed. There isn't any reason that I want it other than to reminisce.
Anyway, do you any of you know what the hell I'm talking about?

It's a torrent, but I don't know if it's the one you're talking about because I'm at work and I can't check it.

Copyright violation caused it to be removed. Very lame.

It was actually a "Championship Celebration" that was held after we won the Rose Bowl, when students returned to campus in January (unless you're thinking of something different). I don't remember a Woodson highlight video, but there was a long season re-cap video that had a lot of Woodson footage. I remember the place going NUTS when they showed the Michigan State interception. They replayed it like 4 times.
I still have my ticket for this somewhere.

I'm sure you are right. I could only remember the Woodson highlights, including the Boston TD, and so I was remembering it as something it wasn't.
I'd still like to get my hands on that video.

Thanks for the post. I had completely forgotten about that video. Those were the days...

...This was the NCAA Championship celebration. I believe the parade was the same day. I think I know what you're talking about though.
The only things I can remember for sure was thinking that it was cold as balls outside and Jim Brandstatter mentioned that of all the polls and associations out there handing out national championship trophies, each one was in Ann Arbor except for the one the coaches gave Osborne for his going away present.

Charles Woodson never got beat...
he only let Boston catch the ball to see what being beat might have felt like. Then he drank a Dos Equis and became the most intersting man in the world.

They aired that same video during a local special on either channel 4 or channel 7 sometime right before or after the Rose Bowl that year. I have it on tape (tape?... I am getting old) somewhere.
It was a great highlight reel though. Every time I hear My Way... I immediately envision Woodson highlights and think of the '97 National Title.

Was anyone else at the hockey game the night Woodson won the Heisman? That is one of my fondest Michigan memories. As I remember it, there were a bunch of recruits in one of the press boxes that contained a TV, and the entire student section was staring at them the whole night to find out if Woodson won (this was in a time before cellphones). In the middle of the 2nd period they started going nuts, and a slow wave of celebration engulfed Yost. Then an official announcement was made and the entire arena went nuts for 5-10 minutes straight. I think there was even a "Heisman-Sieve" chant. Wish someone had a video of that.

Took me a minute to figure out what everyone was going nuts about, but the word spread quickly, and there definitely was some sort of chant (which old age/brain cell depletion prevents me from remembering). Great Michigan moment, for sure -- and soon to be followed by a national championship for the hockey team (and, oh yeah, the football team as well!).

I remember watching some guys in the press box huddled around a TV, just like you said. When they started going crazy the whole arena erupted. Good times.
