Best Halftime Show Ever Today
Anybody else at the game thoroughly enjoy the halftime show? For those who weren't there, it consisted of a Michigan themed wizard of oz type deal where Dorothy had Denard's untied shoes and was trying to get back to Ann Arbor to get them to him before the second half. A guy disguised as Brutus the Buckeye was also tackled by a guy dressed up as the Bobcat mascot. There was also a "little brother" reference. I hope it gets posted somewhere because I would love to watch it again.
Oh yeah....the actual game was pretty sweet too.
Edit: Only video I have found of it. Crappy quality, but hey, its something.

I think it came against Eastern in 2006, and we were up something ridiculous at the half. The band show actually got people to stay in their seats through halftime, and not walk out until the football was starting up again.

the Monty Python show. But I'd have to give the "Save Cody Martin" show an edge over this one. Hilarious, a nice park and blow in front of the student section, with a little bit of a dance, coupled with an awesome come-from-behind victory over Wisconsin. But what really pushes it over Oz, I think, were the posters they put up beforehand. They were every where and nobody I knew in the MMB would tell me what they meant and it just made the anticipation all that much greater. By the time the show started I was so curious to see what was going to happen and then the show itself blew me away.

There was an awesome video game music one a couple years ago as well, although I think that one was strictly musical. I love the full-on sketch shows.

Any reason to remind people that the MMB invented the script Ohio gets a thumbs up in my book. Turning the script Ohio into an "Oh No" was classic too.

It was very entertaining...anyone know where you can get a replay?

The skit halftime shows are always amazing:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (B10 championship)
Cody Martin's Day Off
etc, etc

Right after the halftime show ended, an OSU fan in the student section started getting heckled pretty badly. No idea how it started, but eventually his hat got pickpocketed and relayed over the rim of the stadium a la an extra point. It was a very entertaining halftime all around.
November 6th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
Yeah he was prowling around my row trying to squeeze in, but since he had on full OSU gear no one would let him in. A guy a few rows ahead of me started talking shit to him, and then eventually someone grabbed his hat and started throwing it up.
Classic.

I didn't end up going to the game, but a friend of mine came back after and said, "That was the worst halftime show I've ever seen."
November 6th, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
have missed music from the cirque de solei (no clue how to spell it, which is more justification of worst marching band show idea ever) and I think we also got an opera halftime show in the last 2 years as well.

I see no '/s' , I guess not! I thought it was great; creative, funny, entertaining. "Look out Brutus, it's the Ohio University mascot!!", that was funny! Oh well, different strokes...
November 6th, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
Was classic.
November 6th, 2010 at 8:22 PM ^
I was pretty embarassed by it. The script OhNo and Brutus parts were good, but all the 3rd-grade-level stupid jokes about every other B10 school made me think of that Family Guy episode when the anti-sex speaker talks to James Woods High. "Jefferson High is our rivals!"

Laugh much, do you?
November 6th, 2010 at 9:06 PM ^
Keep in mind that these are college students and sometimes the shows are directed at the other college students in the stadium.

This older alum and his older wife enjoyed the show - it is fun to laugh, and until the end of this game, there hasn't been enough of it this last month at the Big House.

Loved the beatdown of brutus by the ohio u mascot spoof. Overall, a very entertaining show.

That was a great halftime show, first one I've sat through in a while.
November 6th, 2010 at 8:09 PM ^
the monty python was probably better, but this one had some great moments. Can't believe they had the ohio bobcat make an appearance and the script oh no was classic.
November 6th, 2010 at 8:16 PM ^
That was amazing. The show today really had it all. Definitely one of the greatest ones I've seen.

I wish they would have played up the Scarecrow MSU thing more. I mean, the thing doesn't have a brain.

Thanks! I wanted Rollicking Crew, but it was taken.

When they were talking about the tin man and his clogged arteries I thought they were referencing Dantonio's health. Then I realized the cheese reference to Wisconsin. Still a little strange though.

I hate to admit it but my nephew has a serious(?) girlfriend who is a osu (yeah, I know -- but he lives in Findlay, OH and there aren't a lot of non-osu womens down there) that was seriously offended by the half-time show.
It was the best EVAH!
Hi Amber!

Just showed this to "Amber" and she laughed at the "serious" part.

I caught a quick glimpse of someone who looked to be dressed as Dorothy behind the Illinois bench on TV. I thought I was going crazy or that they were really late for Halloween. It all makes sense now.

where I really want to get some kind of video recording of it.
November 6th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
As I said elsewhere, the only thing it was missing was Rich ad the Wizard, using his snake oil to help get them back to Ann Arbor. (Though Denard's shoes are magical enough). But it would have been funnier if Purdue was the opponent.
November 6th, 2010 at 9:08 PM ^
I still think the best might have been the Drum Major's Day Off one, but man, this one was good. the MSU scarecrow was perfect, and I loved Script Ohio-Oh no.
November 6th, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
It was well thought out, imaginative and damn funny. More fans would stay in their seats during halftime if they thought something that entertaining was going to happen each week. By far the best halftime show I can ever remember.
November 6th, 2010 at 9:29 PM ^
I really wish the MMB would have a dedicated videographer who would post online. I was at ND and saw there GaGa bit, and would love to see the other shows I miss watching inane halftime banter on tv.
November 7th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
does post things pretty regularly on youtube so fans can see some shows (including Gaga and Oz)! go ahead and search for them on youtube, or go to their website. awesome stuff.

Scott Boerma is truly an extraordinary director, and the University is blessed to have him. His arrangements are amazing, and his creativity (these skits) are unparalleled. Great guy.

im glad we can still have some fun at the rest of the leagues expense. the ohio bobcat part was perfect

They need to take this video and recut it with images from the video on the scoreboard and add quality audio. Please. Fantastic show. Creative. Took a lot of work. Dear Dave Brandon ... please throw some money at this and put out a video for everyone (the whole nation) to see.

Seen a lot of halftime shows at Michigan Stadium.
Been involved in a lot of halftime shows at Michigan Stadium.
Aside from the Rice Marching Owl Band's show in '99, that was the best halftime show I've ever seen. Bar none. So many little nuances ("as long as you stay in the blue!" is so completely full of win), incredibly well written and executed.

1) rice 99
"We request that you please rise for the State of Michigan Anthem"
*everyone is like, WTF? Oooooh...Kaaaay..... and stands up*
Rice band proceeds to play "O Canada"
LOL

Anyone who did not like this show, well, ok. Very proud of the MMB. One of the best (maybe the best) I've ever seen.
Actually, the band seems to have stepped up this year. Maybe it was the challenge of the rawk music. Maybe it is Brandon. Maybe it is something else. But We definitely have the best band in the conference.
P.S. It is a shame that they did not show this at halftime on TV. I was at the game with my dad, but my mom at home did not get to see the show. She would have loved it and the MMB needs to get props for all the hard work.

the first comment should run, "was also tackled by a CHICK dressed up as the Bobcat mascot." word!
so happy everyone liked it so much. it's great to be a michigan wolverine!

that was probably the best half-time show I've seen.......congrats to the band.
