That's more than anyone can say about any coach at Michigan in well over a decade, Brady Hoke included. And the arrests that occurred on his watch, they're Meyer's fault? Is Meyer supposed to babysit all 85 scholarship players (not to mention walk-ons) 24 hours a day? No, he's not supposed to and he couldn't even if he was. The fact is, many programs have players get into trouble, and Michigan's no exception (see, e.g., Chris Richards, Carson Butler, Mario Maningham, Ryan Mallett, Justin Feagin, Kevin Grady, Boubacar Cissoko, etc.) The real question is how those players are dealt with, and I've seen no evidence that Meyer was anything less than upstanding in his handling of players in these circumstances. |

The coach we should want the most is the one that wants to be here the most? Well, if that's the case, I know a guy who's 45 and has been going to games since he was a toddler. He's got season tickets and cheers like crazy at every home game. He always says he knows better than those "stupid coaches" and rants about how they're overpaid and don't appreciate the job they have. Even if Michigan finished last in total defense under GERG (which it didn't), finishing 95th or 89th (as OK State did under Bedford) would not be a 1,000X improvement.
