OT: so are you watching U.S. vs. England Saturday and if so where?
I'm looking very forward to watching us play England Saturday . As a Premiership follower I'll be rooting for England in every other game but this one. I know that there are several soccer fans on this here blog, but I'd be interested to know how many there are. My questions are, are you watching, where will you watch it? I'd like to watch it at a pub somewhere myself, but am not sure given the low level of soccer interest generally if I can count on one near me featuring it.
Watching at home in glorious HD with some friends - making an FA-esque beer run tomorrow to get ready.
I plan on watching quite a bit of the games in bars (Charlies and Connors, specifically), but this game is far too big. I need to be able to pay attention, hear the announcers, etc.
I will be watching all the Italy games for sure
as to me, thats the only national team that matters
but i would prefer a us win over england
the team that is going to surprise is going to be Serbia !
at home with the kids, depending on the time
Watchin at an Irish pub... those guys hate England more than we do
I got one suggestion (thanks!) for a bachelor party stop in New Orleans. Looks like that will be our destination.
More specifically, with teammates from an over 30 soccer team. The season kicks off next week and it seemed fitting to get together for the game on Saturday.
On a side note, we are going for the three peat. God bless organizations (YMCA in this case) that allow us to participate in sports well past our prime......
Watching either at home in St. Paul, MN with my kids, or at an English pub, infiltrating the enemy (CLEAN UP THE OIL BRITISH PETROLEUM), and celebrating my 8th anniversary with that game during the day, and Braves - Twins at the new ballpark at night.
FWIW, I got married about an hour after Nigeria 0 - England 0 in the 2002 World Cup. In Scotland. In a castle. Pretty kewl. They served Guinness before the ceremony. Lord knows I needed it.
and I'd be totally lying if I said I haven't spent the last 2 hours watching Zidane highlight reels.
Friday can't come fast enough.
Love soccer, played soccer, almost never watch soccer.
Absolutely I will be watching that and many other games Saturday though.
Where I work, almost nothing is getting done because of the WC. Of course I work with like 95% foreigners. The Indians are especially interested in Saturday's match vs the Redcoats. I guess I never realized how much they loathe the British and still haven't forgiven them.
Might be house/dog sitting for some friends, otherwise I will be watching it at my house or another friend's house getting a nice buzz on! Can't wait! My obvious #1 is the US through and through, but England is my #2 since I'm mainly English. It will be nice to watch them both in action.
At home, BBQing, with 55" of LED awesomeness.
At home on my 42".
HOWEVA, my workplace put up three 55" flat-panel TVs so that we can watch games during the week.
i am going to put a computer and/or television in every room of my house and play it simultaneously with all the volumes on as high as they will go.
Not sure where I'm watching yet (though the girlfriend has assured me I am not allowed to stay in the house frightening her, the cat, and the neighbors). I will be chugging copious amounts of Belhaven (or something equally delicious) and belting out the hits at the top of my lungs. "Doe A Deer" and "We'll Be Coming" and "Flower of Scotland." I would even walk 500 Miles to see it but I'll probably get a ride (better to stay off the road after all that beer). I'll remind Jimmy Hill we still hate his guts, even if no one in Southern California knows what the hell I'm talking about.

Alba gu brath and God Bless America!
What do you do there?
At Up and Under's in Kalamazoo.
Also, I can't imagine that there won't be crowds watching it at most places, BDubs had fans there for just about every WC game in 2006, if that's your style. If I were in Ann Arbor, I'd probably go to Connor's, I'm sure there'll be a big crowd there.
between my living room or the local sports bar.
I'd like to watch this one in a big room, and see what the reactions are like. Might depend on when I get up that morning.
I cannot wait for the World Cup. I love the game of soccer in general, but the buzz over here is amazing for this tournament. So myself and a few other Michigan grads are going out to watch the game together in a pub in town. Should be a good time, will be decked out in USA gear inside the pub but will cover it up to and from as I am not looking to get killed.
On my friend's 3d tv drinking bud heavys
I'm searching for a suitably rowdy bar in Rochester or Royal Oak to go to with my group of friends. I've heard that the official viewing party in the Detroit Area is in Livonia, but that's a little too far for me.
In any case, I fully plan on waking up and getting ready for the game as though it's a football Saturday.
If Livonia is too far, I suppose Farmington Hills might also be out of your range? Because there are some cool pubs there.
Where at in Livonia?
Claddagh Irish Pub
Found using this website, which is incredibly useful: http://www.meetup.com/BigSoccer-World-Cup-Parties/
Cool, thanks!
It's too bad the food blows.
I'll be in Windhoek, Namibia, enroute to Cape Town for three weeks and four WC matches. My flight leaves in 14 hours. I think I'm still sort of in a daze.
Awesome!
Bring me back a vuvuzela.
you can do with a vuvuzela:
1. Annoy your neighbors
2. Change the oil in your car
I can do both, to be sure.
At home in CRYSTAL CLEAR HIGH DEF. Drinking as much as it takes to suppress my Anglophilia for the day.
just to watch it with my bro from england who got me into soccer when i was 5 or 6 ... we have been talking shit since december and i cant wait to see jozy's hat trick
In Marseilles for this UM study abroad thang, can't wait for the night game
Watching it at home in HD and Stereo, bringing in friends and non-soccer enthusiasts. Should be an interesting crowd!
and it's going to be crazy.
if anyone else is living here or is coming through here, we will all be at Zlata Hvezda (Golden Star). I'll be the one in the Woodson jersey with the Marley J pre-spun for that first goal.
Philly. Going to Fado they are having an 18 foot screen and are closing the street.
Can't wait to chant Not So EASY!
i might head to Dupont Circle, or try to find a good pub to hit up. any suggestions? virginia side preferable
