"The University of Illinois is also in turmoil. The university sports an Interim Chancellor, an Interim Athletic Director, and an Interim Football Coach; the game will be played at Soldier Field, making this an Illini Interim Home Game."

My worry with the Chinese ones is that the M looks much lower than it is on the real jersey.

Depends on the size and how much you're looking for it I guess.

Do you have a picture of your jersey? I've bought soccer jerseys in the past from these sites and I appreciate those, but feel like a high quality football jersey is much much much harder to pull off. From looking at the pictures a lot of those places supply, it looks like a lot of details are off like the M is way too big or way too small, or the adidas logo isn't there, or the jersey fabric looks really off.

I definitely took a look at China/Thailand/etc and the jerseys don't look very good, all of the stuff on the front is consistently the wrong size and the material looks awful.

Got tickets in the student section, so I didn't experience any of the ticket problems that you guys are talking about.
We stayed in Ybor City. Despite every Tampa local telling us to avoid it and saying that it was sketchy, we liked staying there and never had a single problem.
Ybor was kind of strange--on the weekends the bars and clubs were packed to the gills like it was Bourbon Street, but during the weekdays there would only be 4 or so people in each bar, even on the night after the game. The trolley system was very convenient so we spent some time in Channelside and Downtown as well, but it was kind of unfortunate that there wasn't a central nightlife area to find bowl fans. I suppose the metro area is so big that lots of people stay outside of the immediate city.
One beef I had with Tampa is that we spent midnight on NYE downtown watching the fireworks, and then afterward it was literally impossible to get back to Ybor for bars/clubs because the trolley stopped running shortly after midnight and every cab in the city was booked. As a result we didn't really get to party because it took us 2 hours to find a cab and there were barely any bars open downtown.
I disagree with people saying that the stadium situation sucked. From Ybor it was only a 15 minute or so drive without bad traffic, and we found a parking lot to tailgate in for $10 or so just a ten-minute walk from the stadium.Leaving the stadium we were able to take a sidestreet so we didn't run into any traffic there either. Atmosphere at the game was kind of lame--especially in the student section--but I wasn't really expecting something crazy for a mid-tier bowl.

Walk to the graves, smash buckeyes, some stories might be told but it's a relatively brief affair. No official u involvement. Attendance widely varies based on the importance of the game (HBO sent a crew to film it in 06) but I'd guess 20-40 is a good range to expect.

You've never heard of the US Open Cup? I wish more American soccer fans actually paid attention to American soccer...
In any case, a non-MLS team hasn't won the Cup since 1999 so I'm pretty happy for the Bucks to have beaten an MLS side.

How do we know that the announcement is actually happening? I'd expect a credible news source (TomVH, Rothstein, Brian, etc.) to say something about it, but the only people talking about it are on forums like this one and we're hardly a credible source.

|4 years 3 weeks ago||Look, I don't know Mark||
Look, I don't know Mark Madden's track record with things like this but this really sounds like irresponsible journalism to me. I'm not saying that it can't be true, but there's a reason why real media outlets (Brian included) don't publicize rumors, even with disclaimers included.
Publishing sensational rumors without sourcing or evidence is flat-out dangerous and it disgusts me that they're throwing out these allegations for the public to eat up while still trying to cover their asses in case they're wrong
Journalism 101: if you're not confident enough in your sources or evidence to publish it without the "rumor" disclaimer, don't publish it in the first place. Every outlet latching onto this rumor is being wildly irresponsible.

I'm surprised that nobody has recommended Bar Louie per Brian's recommendation. Ashley's is a great location and the best beer selection in town, but nobody will ever confuse them for a sports bar. Bar Louie is probably second to Ashley's when it comes to beer selection away from Main Street, and they have a much better TV situation (and better food).
It kind of sucks that it's a chain, but I definitely think that Bar Louie is the place you want to go.

I see Lloyd a fair amount because I make my way to a lot of Michigan games (but I'm sadly not quite as famous as he is). I wouldn't say that he's embraced his fame but he's generally very good-humored about it and, in my experience, goes entirely by Lloyd Brady and I have no idea what his real name is or really any desire to know what it is. Two basketball home games ago somebody asked him to autograph his shirt and he actually signed it. It was pretty funny.
