Here's the first of what could be many formal requests for information from Michigan State. pic.twitter.com/h0tIvYXnAV

The list of names for which they requested copies of electronic communication has two notable absences: Izzo and Dantonio.

not saying its impossible, but i don't see a clear path there for anyone. booting a FOIA request isn't a felony, and that's about as bad as we have so far. i don't think mandatory reporting failure is a felony either, but admittedly i haven't studied it. corruption in office is an extremely difficult charge to prove and is really more of a quid-pro-quo, pay-to-play type of offense when it is proven (kwame kilpatrick says hello). is there any evidence of that type of thing?
January 30th, 2018 at 8:30 AM ^
I'm pretty sure that's why most people around here believe there will be charges handed down after this investigation. When you have decades of abuse with possibly hundreds of victims I think most people believe something like that is impossible to cover up without criminal neglegence and/or interference.

i can see a possible child abuse claim against the mandatory reporters, but that is going to be hard to pursue unless the politics of it are so heated that the jury loses sight of the law. the statute that might apply is here, and it is a 10 yr felony.:
(3) A person is guilty of child abuse in the second degree if any of the following apply:
(a) The person's omission causes serious physical harm or serious mental harm to a child or if the person's reckless act causes serious physical harm or serious mental harm to a child.
(b) The person knowingly or intentionally commits an act likely to cause serious physical or mental harm to a child regardless of whether harm results.
(c) The person knowingly or intentionally commits an act that is cruel to a child regardless of whether harm results
so the question is, who had not just a moral duty to report, ala joepa, but an actual legal duty to either protect those kids or report this? again, not saying 'no way, jose', but i don't see it yet. maybe the facts will unfold in that direction.

might come out of the investigation. Let's just let everything play out.
If it eases people's minds knowing that Penn State administrators went to prison and they can foresee that same outcome on the wrong doers at msu so be it.

looks like they asked for all relevant investigations and communications re: Nassar from:
- Every member of the BoT
- All Gymnastics staff and Hollis
- Any directly above Nassar in the Dept of Osteo.
- Simon
Sound about right?

Destiny Teachnor-Hauk joined the Michigan State University athletic training staff in August 1997. She is currently the staff athletic trainer in charge of MSU women's gymnastics, with clinical supervision of the Varsity and Novice Rowing teams and the Jenison Field House Athletic Training Room. She is also responsible for yearly CPR certification of all Michigan State coaches and staff and student athletic trainers.

Former MSU softball player Tiffany Thomas-Lopez says she told Teachnor-Hauk about Nassar's abuse in 2000. Teachnor-Hauk continues to work with MSU’s gymnastics and rowing teams. She has been at MSU since 1997. Like Brooke Lemmen, the ex-MSU doctor who removed "several boxes of confidential treatment records" from MSU's Sports Medicine Clinic at Nassar's request, Teachnor-Hauk was interviewed during MSU’s 2014 Title IX review that cleared Nassar. She also told MSU Police in March 2017 that she never had been told by an athlete that Nassar had performed an intervaginal procedure on them.

In your haste to defend people, you've lost sight of the bigger picture. Its not Nassar on his own as a pedophile, and its not Izzo on his own as a bball coach, nor is it Mick on his own with football. It's three very different, but related, sports. Each of those teams report directly back to the MSU Ath Dept, (previously) led by Mark Hollis. Hollis reported directly to LAKS, who reported directly to the BoT.
Please tell me which of the actors involved have been standup guys. I'll wait...
LAKS and Hollis set up an administration that STRONGLY appears to have favored weak adherence to due process, law, and 'doing things right'. That admin allowed people to support a friend against heinous reports. It allowed Izzo and Dontana to get away with finger slaps when players sexually assaulted women. We know this from documented reports already. These things aren't at question.
What's at question is whether that admin atually made it possible to cover up sex assault (or other crime) by pleading to lesser crimes and/or light punishment. (I mean, Dantario had a rapist talk to his mom about his crime as a punishment!)
I'm sorry you can't see the big picture. Please go back to being an asshat apologist. Question - do you also think JoePa was wronged? Jeez, man...
