Coaches Hot Seat Blog -Ridiculousness-
Look... Can someone go over to this guys house and let him know that our coach is not on the Hot Seat. I'm pretty tired of all the Hot Takes these idiots are coming up with.

I enjoyed that Jimbo Fisher somehow also made that list.
November 29th, 2017 at 9:01 AM ^
This list is absurd. I could draw numbers out of a hat and be more accurate!
Rutgers just had a relatively good season @ 4-8 and Ash is 8?
Fickell @ 4 after only 1 year @ UC?
Jimbo Fisher @ 22?
Harbaugh @ 27?
Durkin @ 24 in his second year after losing 3 QBs to injury?
There are 14 coaches whose job is more secure than Saban (@115 out of 129)?
November 28th, 2017 at 2:05 PM ^
Look at the winning percentages compared to Harbaugh. .737! You don't see a percentage that high again till the high 80's, but yeah, have Jim at 27. Clown.
November 28th, 2017 at 2:48 PM ^
he won more games in 2017 than 77% of D1 coaches.
Brian Kelly (in the green) is the next name on the list at #57 who has more or as many wins as him.
this is dumb. people are dumb

Most of the fanbases that say "Harbaugh is on the hot seat" would drop their guy and hire him the minute it happened.
November 28th, 2017 at 2:33 PM ^
Which, specifically, is a big reason they say he's on the hot seat.

Bam!!!!
November 28th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
but if we go 8-4 next year with losses to OSU and MSU, there will be plenty of bitching about Harbaugh from average UM fans, and I'd bet some athletic dept. donors would start grumbling privately.
November 28th, 2017 at 2:08 PM ^
If, in Year 4, Harbaugh STILL can't beat those guys, I think the criticism would be fair.

is already saying that.
Pretty sure he's joking. He knows that they should have lost last year, and would have this year if we played a different QB.

I mean a lot of Cooper's losses were close games too. 1990, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1999 were all one score Michigan wins.

There's a certain Michael Bluth Opening A Bag Labeled 'Dead Dove Do Not Eat' quality inherent in that.

It depends on the definition. If there are some items to improve upon in 2018, I think that that is true for JH.
On the otherhand, save an 0-12, I don't see how JH doesn't get a fifth year. You know, as long as he avoids dinners in Southfileld, he should be ok.

Moeller would have been sent to rehab and celebrated on Oprah for his courage in overcoming his addiction.

That guy doesn’t know anything.
Chris Ash from Ruggers is 8? That guy is also not on a hot seat.
November 28th, 2017 at 2:37 PM ^
Looks like a random corner of the internet site to me. No reality whatsoever.
Also, Rutgers improved considerably year over year. Ash seems to be doing a good job there.

I think I've read up on this site before, and it's all algorith-based... and a fairly simple (non-robust) algorith at that. Jimbo Fisher checks in above Harbaugh at #22, and he won a national championship 3 years ago (and incidentally is in the middle of a bidding war for his services between his current school and A&M--which by definition makes him NOT on the Hot Seat).

Man, we can't even get into the top 25 on this thing. Definately need to fire Harbaugh.

That was sarcasm, my frineds. Also...a double-post.

I'm always amazed at the people who think the proper reaction to a terrible web site / article is to make a post on here linking to the terrible web site / article, thereby giving the author more clicks. Congratulations, your giving them more advertising dollars and encouraging them.
Ignore it please.

Nah, he will only drop 1-2 spots he goes 10-2 or 11-1, and will drop 3 spots if he goes undefeated. Did you actually look at the list? SMH

I don't understand the critique about his salary. Who cares what the salary is? It's not hurting the athletic department in any way. The only question that matters is, would UM be able to hire a better coach? If the answer is no, then what does the salary matter? If the answer is yes, then you're going to have to pay the new guy (who is presumably very desirable) a figure probably in line wit Harbaugh's salary anyway.
I highly doubt the answer to that all-important question is going to be yes in two years, but, to each their own.

So you'd rather fire him, get some guy we know is going to be mediocre, and save a couple of million? That's the logical conclusion here.
November 28th, 2017 at 3:22 PM ^
All this is obviously extremely premature. There’s every reason to expect improvement next year and a title run in 2019. Which is why I said somewhere else in this thread that this is all speculation on a big IF
November 28th, 2017 at 3:32 PM ^
Your second paragraph is eminently fair. And I'm probably understating how frustrating it would be to go 8-4 in 18 and 19 (records I doubt we will hit).
November 28th, 2017 at 4:17 PM ^
I guess my issue with many of the dismissive responses to this article is that Harbaugh absolutely needs to produce results these next couple of seasons. It isn't unfair to say his job is not on the completely secure side of the spectrum. The main issue with the article, though, is that it’s stupid to assume he won’t produce the necessary results to fully secure his job for the foreseeable future. But I just get frustrated with the "Harbaugh can do no wrong," "even if Harbaugh goes 8-4 forever we shouldn’t look elsewhere to at least try to do better" nature of so many posts.

You have to stop blaming the Big Ten, the NCAA, the SEC, the media, the refs, the weather and just plain bad luck, and acknowledge that you've got a perennial 9-3 coach that will never take this program to an elite level. Elite coaches just get it done. They just win. If Harbaugh can't beat OSU and MSU more than once in 5 years, then there IS something seriously wrong with the program.

However some of us chose to wait until that five year period has come and gone. For those of us who have looked at the overall picture, it's easy to realize the difference between OSU and UM right now includes having ridded ourselves of the most crippling reasons for losing to a particular team; that of course, being defeated due to the intimidation factor prior to the game even being played. We now realize the pieces are pretty much set in place, we've got better overall talent than MSU, closing in on OSU and a qb away from making this interesting. I am making no excuses for Harbaugh. He doesn't need any. This is the same man who took down the Bama of the early 2000s on a couple of occassions. If for some reason he's lost that ability it will come to light, just as it will if he still possesses it and playing the right qb will prove it to be. As a loyal fan, I'm one that will let him prove himself and cheer for him to do so rather than set around and predict the certain failure that you have forever, the only true thing in your name. I am honest enough to face the truth even if it turns out other than what I wish. However, if Dantonio can beat OSU - and he has had better talent than he's credited with - so too can Harbaugh. You go your way. I'll go mine but under no circumstances will I ever pretend to be a fan of another team in order to disparage their coach.

what I can't figure out is why do you expend so much time and energy here, rather than praising Dantonio on the green cedar message board? People there will be receptive.
