OT - Tebow drafted before Clausen
Just hilarious - wonder if the session with Chucky on ESPN last week killed Jimmah!?

i hate tebow...i guess we have a different definition of "class"
and as a jets fan, how are you grouping us with the freakin lions?!!!! jets have been great in the 1st round (vilma, revis, sanchez, keller, mangold, ferguson, santana moss, shaun ellis, john abraham, etc.) can't think of a single catastrophic high pick we have made other than maybe gholston and dewayne robertson. i think half the nfl has done worse.

I have heard several criticisms of Tebow, but not that he was classless. Did I miss something?
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:38 AM ^
its fine, he's a Jets fan. New Yorkers definition of class is....different.

Hey there.
Sincerely,
Kyle Brady

Both QBs lost to Michigan in the last few years, and I'd have to say that the schadenfreude was far stronger when we beat Tebow...
But I think Jimmah's general douchebaggery is worse than Tebow trying to covert everyone he meets, so I'm OK with their draft order.

Jimmah
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:39 PM ^
He had to all-world receivers pulling down the rainbows that Jimmah threw up in desperation. Without awesome receivers he woul have had a ton of picks.
In the NFL, you have to be ridiculously accurate to be successful. Clausen will fail just like Quinn before him.
For what it's worth, I doubt Tebow will turn out to be much. I bet Dan L. from CMU has a much better career than the two combined.
April 23rd, 2010 at 12:07 AM ^
-those all world receivers were missing quite a bit though. #1 RB was out 5 games, #1 WR (Floyd) was out 6 games, #3 WR was out 4 games, and #1 TE was out 3 games. So with no running game, a poor Oline he was still able to get the ball to tate when he was double and triple teamed by the defense. Not to mention his Big toe wasn't even attached to his foot anymore. Now golden is awesome, but he didn't do it all on his own.
-He's started 9 games and it was for the Browns, come on lets think about this a little bit
Understand what you are saying but the NFL scouts also have this information and they were apparently unmoved.

I don't really think him falling out of the first round means he isn't a good passer, now if 12 QBs were drafted ahead of him I would agree.
...that it's a really crappy year for QB's, and he's getting drafted higher because there's no one good to take, OR, in the other situation, that there are 12 really great QB's, and JC was just 13th best/great.
Man, the latter is a draft I'd like to see.
I haven't heard one word about Lefevre's draft status. I thought he was the hot QB coming out this year. It would be funny if he got drafted by Green Bay.
I'm still not convinced Tebow will even play QB. Does he have the hands to play TE?
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:56 PM ^
I laughed so hard when they announced Tebow, I think I woke up my neighbors
So the apartment buildings in South Bend have walls made of paper?
April 22nd, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
Well, he can always fall back on the pickle bizz.
April 23rd, 2010 at 12:23 AM ^
Clausen is now a steal. The Chiefs, Seahawks, Raiders, or Bills will probably pick him in the next 10 picks.
probably wished that they take Suh and then take Clausen with their 1st pick of 2nd round. That would have yield a better value.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
I refuse to listen to any scenerio where SUUUUUUUUUUUUUH isn't a Detroit Lion.
So at least Denver fans won't have to wonder "what if" I guess. It seems like a wasted pick to me, no matter how desperate the position need.
Not a huge Tebow fan, but I do sympathize with him having to put up with the same damn questions in every single interview for the last six months. That would get really annoying after a while.
the broncos bought into the rumor that tebow is the 2nd coming of christ.
Cry ND nation
Jimmah dropped to second round
Somewhere Ryan Leaf smiles
At least part of the thinking with Tebow has to be that he can play other roles while he works on his mechanics. I dislike the guy as much as anyone here but there are things he can do. Wouldn't surprise me to see him as a tight end or fullback at some point.
April 23rd, 2010 at 10:20 AM ^
OR....Maybe they could even try him out in a "Percy Harvin type role", if you will.
I am no good at paint, can anyone make one with Tebow as Jesus
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:20 AM ^
Oh Buddy Jesus....
I loved Dogma, quality film

Selecting Demaryius Thomas over Dez Bryant and Tim Tebow over Jimmy Clausen, yeah good luck with that...
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:09 AM ^
I think it speaks directly to an effort to select players who don't have negative character issues. Bryant may be better than Thomas, but Bryant has character issues. Clausen may be better than Tebow, but Clausen has character issues. They've obviously had their fill of that type of player after the whole Brandon Marshall ordeal.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:16 AM ^
That strategy has worked so well for the Indiana Pacers. Different sport, I know, but almost the exact same scenario.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:15 AM ^
I think taking Tebow at 25 becomes a huge risk. Take a QB that needs two years until he sees the field in the second round or later, especially when your team has glaring needs.
Clausen would have been the better pick because he could have immediately come in and at least been able to step on the field as your backup QB. I can't remember a team ever using a first round pick on a guy who even those endorsing him say needs two years before he's ready. That's just crazy.
April 23rd, 2010 at 12:02 PM ^
I think that logic works well if you only have one first round pick, but not when you have two.
April 23rd, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
Why should it matter how many picks you have? A first round pick should bring back first round value. Period.
The Broncos are a team that has been mediocre for the past few years and in the last two off-seasons, they have traded away their two best young offensive weapons. Their defense has only played well for about a six game stretch in the last three years. With all that, I don't get throwing away a first round choice on a guy that can't make your team better in the next two seasons, even if it was the second first round pick of the draft.
April 23rd, 2010 at 11:23 AM ^
I'm not a huge fan of Tebow, but I wish our team was full of guys who hated losing as much as Tebow appeared to. Don't get me wrong because I'm not saying we don't have guys who hate losing. It just seems like Tebow took it to a different level. I hated how much the media coveted him but, I liked that speech he gave and I bet it motivated his guys. Still a reach at 25, but he's got huge upside due to his talent and intangibles.
April 23rd, 2010 at 12:32 PM ^
As much as I don't like the guy, he was a Heisman winner and those guys always seem to get drafted early.
Wishes this were always true.
Danny Wuerffel calls foul too. Though yes, most do.
Charlie Ward did....in the NBA draft.
