Ahmir Mitchell ACL Torn in April
First post here so I'm taking a risk with sorta old news, but I can't find any reference on this website to Ahmir Mitchell blowing his ACL this spring. A potentially great athlete that chose to move on from Michigan after being disciplined, I was curious to see where he was at on the Rutgers depth chart when I found this. Surpising that this wasn't discussed here.

Oddly enough, both (along with Brad Hawkins) are WR/S combos - I can't remember too many more guys like that. It seems like we've been pretty sure where guys were going to play when it comes to those positions.
Before those 3, I can't think of the last scholarship WR/S combo type we recruited.

Forgotten that Brian Cole played receiver too. Wonder if DPJ will do both down the road.

It's probably more common with Harbaugh recruits than other coaches because he likes moving guys around and seeing where they can play. But plenty of guys play both ways in HS and may still fit at both in college. Sometimes they just lack to hands to play WR and can excell on defense without that skill.

Was a guy who was ostesibly a WR out of HS, moved to safety, then LB. Ended up a decent role player at OLB.

So are you saying you weren't fully aware?

I don't remember hearing this, or at least if you had asked me "What's up with Ahmir Mitchell" I wouldn't have been able to say this. But then, I barely remember that he went to Rutgers.
Which means this is not duplicate info.

I've never done either, but I'd probably rather play for Rutgers than blow out my knee. Especially if it's free.

Rutgers is a horrible athletic program, but it ain't a bad school to get a degree from.

I would say doing both at the same time is worst of all. I feel bad for Ahmir.

He is dead to me

Damn, you really took that personally, huh?

I wouldn't take it as far as being dead to me, and never want to see a guy get injured, but I'm in no way a fan of Mitchell.
Between the credit card fraud and inability to stop smoking weed, he wasted a scholarship for a year. I have no problem with kids getting homesick or having trouble adapting academically, but his blatant lack of respect for Coach and the school rubbed me the wrong way. I would've rather seen that scholarship go to someone like Matt Falcon, who although injured, bled maize and blue.

Falcon had an offer but ignored the coaching staff's advice on recovering from an injury and played, resulting in another injury. FWIW, Walker committed after that, iirc.

That's what he got in trouble for, credit card fraud? I've never heard that before, I thought it was just for smoking weed too many times.

Matt Falcon was given a non-football full ride by Coach, but turned it down so he could pursue football elsewhere.
So if he bled maize and blue, his athlete ego hid that part pretty well in the moment of truth.
Nothing wrong with his choice, but the record should show that he did not get gypped by Ahmir Mitchell.

Since when do we feel bad for our number one rival?
(I too hope he recovers quickly!)

I thought Wisconsin was our primary rival. Or was it Penn St.? Sparty? Good Christ i get confused sometimes.

Two first downs occurred, and they must be redeemed in the blood of the Scarlet Knights.
Plus, they put "R" magnets and teddy bears on the satellite camp field and wrote a mean acrostic. This calumny will not stand!!

vengeance will come in converting at least once on third down (they were 0-17 last year)
