OT: LA Rams fire Jeff Fisher
This should tone down the rumor flames just a bit don't you think?
EDIT: For anyone who could possibly misunderstand this post I posted a link to an NFL.com article on the Fisher firing. I DO NOT THINK HARBAUGH IS GOING ANYWHERE. I thought the sarcasm above was self-evident but apparently not so I'l repeat I DO NOT THINK HARBAUGH IS GOING ANYWHERE.
This is not a rumor thread. This is a thread about the firing of the Rams head coach.

lemme guess: someone writes click bait article with the title,
Harbaugh to LA a "real possibility"
when the title should read,
Harbaugh to LA a "real" "possibility"

he only owns the records for losses by an ND football coach by a game or two. With the dumpster fire that program has become, he needs another couple of 5+ loss seasons to really cement him as that program's anchor.

thinks the Rams would hire him. That's my guess. That purple-faced stuff won't go over well in the NFL and his recent performance isn't helping. He was already exploring other opportunities. No doubt Kelly would jump at a job like that.

I think Kelly can get an NFL gig, just not one that is really feeling choosey. Think the Jaguars instead of the Rams.

Sit back and enjoy the stupid from Sparty, Buckeye, and every NFL "expert" on tv.
Soak it in.

Hopefully we don't see the headline L.A. Cooter either. Well, at least not of the Jim Bob variety.

Didn't Fisher just sign an extension? Was it for a few days? It must have been.
As much as it was interesting to have a team hold on to "Mr. Remarkably Average" for that long, I kind of wondered if the end of the Fisher era was sooner than we perhaps thought it was. Combine that with talk of a rapidly deteriorating situation in the Rams front office and this isn't a shock anymore.

Pretty sure the extension was signed in the offseason, but was just made public within the last week or 2...

This is the best thread in so long.
FWIW, I have a source (has to stay anonymous) within the Rams organization who says that Harbaugh to LA is a done deal. Rumor has it he was in talks the week of The Game. Its the main reason why DPJ is going to FSU or OSU.

RCMB
"A poster over at mgoblog stating they have a friend in the Rams organization that said Harbaugh will be their coach, that the deal is done."

I love this time of year.

Start pointing out coincidences like the DPJ rumor being related to Harbaugh "possible (not)" leaving and you'll excite the conspiracy nuts into a full blown orgasm.

That is cool.

Wait wat? I thought the Rams were moving to Vegas?
December 12th, 2016 at 3:09 PM ^
2016 has... not been a good year. And Coach leaving would be the shit pickle on the shit burger of a year. So thank you guys for talking me down from my low-key panic attack.

Because there is a greater than 100% chance our coach is taking the job. Totally on topic.

My mistake on that one. And a friendly mod made the change for me just as I was about to.
Thanks for the heads up.

No offense, but who cares? The OT/Non-OT stuff is so tiring.

It would be nice if the two rumors didn't have to start 24 hours before he got fired. Like if he could have been fired at the end of the season that would have been great.

LA is a great city, but I would not raise kids in large cities if I could help it. Nothing against LA, NYC, or any other large city.

If you were the kid, it might be pretty cool.
But raising children in LA is so expensive (hell, even just living there without children) that it really just comes down to how much you hate the cold or love being close to the ocean. If those things trump all rational thoughts when it comes to a budget and expenses, then go for it.
I've been there (and San Francisco and San Diego) numerous times. I love visiting California. Would never live there. Especially wouldn't raise children there unless I hit it big and money was no object.

True. But Harbaugh doesn't strike me as the type of guy who can't handle a little cold.

Louisiana is too hot and humid. Ann Arbor for sure.
December 12th, 2016 at 3:25 PM ^
lol LA easily.
I'm just annoyed this happened during a dead period so Harbaugh can't talk directly to recruites about it.

UNLESS you have wheelbarrels full of cash. Then it is pretty sweet actually. You just buy a $10-20 million dollar house in Santa Monica near the ocean and you're golden.
Living there on normal people money is an exercise in creative accounting. My wife and I were pulling in over $200K a year combined (pre-kids) and the idea of owning a house anywhere we actually wanted to live was basically a pipe dream. We were going to settle on a small apartment-sized condo in a place with terrible schools, but we missed out on it and eventually decided to leave and raise a family elsewhere where we could actually get a nice house.
Our current 4-bedroom house mortgage is half the cost of the rent that our 2-bedroom aparment was in LA. Of course, we are no longer near the ocean, but we also survive on only 1 salary.
