OT: LA Rams fire Jeff Fisher

Submitted by mGrowOld on

This should tone down the rumor flames just a bit don't you think?

EDIT: For anyone who could possibly misunderstand this post I posted a link to an NFL.com article on the Fisher firing.  I DO NOT THINK HARBAUGH IS GOING ANYWHERE.  I thought the sarcasm above was self-evident but apparently not so I'l repeat I DO NOT THINK HARBAUGH IS GOING ANYWHERE.

This is not a rumor thread.  This is a thread about the firing of the Rams head coach.

I wonder why nobody is mentioning Brian Kelly for the position. He did just lose both of his quarterbacks among many other starters. And take a look at there upcoming schedule and tell me if you'd like to lead a comeback for the Irish. I'd take the pay raise.

thinks the Rams would hire him. That's my guess. That purple-faced stuff won't go over well in the NFL and his recent performance isn't helping. He was already exploring other opportunities. No doubt Kelly would jump at a job like that.

Didn't Fisher just sign an extension? Was it for a few days? It must have been.

As much as it was interesting to have a team hold on to "Mr. Remarkably Average" for that long, I kind of wondered if the end of the Fisher era was sooner than we perhaps thought it was. Combine that with talk of a rapidly deteriorating situation in the Rams front office and this isn't a shock anymore.

This is the best thread in so long.

FWIW, I have a source (has to stay anonymous) within the Rams organization who says that Harbaugh to LA is a done deal. Rumor has it he was in talks the week of The Game. Its the main reason why DPJ is going to FSU or OSU.

Against better judgement, I went to go see this. The funny thing is, all the sarcasm on this thread is completely over their heads, and they actually think they are watching a meltdown on our part. Amazing. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go get a tetanus shot from being exposed to RCMB.

2016 has... not been a good year. And Coach leaving would be the shit pickle on the shit burger of a year. So thank you guys for talking me down from my low-key panic attack.

It would be nice if the two rumors didn't have to start 24 hours before he got fired.  Like if he could have been fired at the end of the season that would have been great.

If you were the kid, it might be pretty cool.

But raising children in LA is so expensive (hell, even just living there without children) that it really just comes down to how much you hate the cold or love being close to the ocean. If those things trump all rational thoughts when it comes to a budget and expenses, then go for it.

I've been there (and San Francisco and San Diego) numerous times. I love visiting California. Would never live there. Especially wouldn't raise children there unless I hit it big and money was no object.

UNLESS you have wheelbarrels full of cash.  Then it is pretty sweet actually.  You just buy a $10-20 million dollar house in Santa Monica near the ocean and you're golden.

Living there on normal people money is an exercise in creative accounting.  My wife and I were pulling in over $200K a year combined (pre-kids) and the idea of owning a house anywhere we actually wanted to live was basically a pipe dream.  We were going to settle on a small apartment-sized condo in a place with terrible schools, but we missed out on it and eventually decided to leave and raise a family elsewhere where we could actually get a nice house.

Our current 4-bedroom house mortgage is half the cost of the rent that our 2-bedroom aparment was in LA.  Of course, we are no longer near the ocean, but we also survive on only 1 salary.
