SEC footbaw coming to Ypsilanti in 2019
Per a release, Kentucky will host Eastern Michigan at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington on Sept. 30, 2017. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron. Two seasons later on Sept. 7, 2019, Kentucky will travel to face EMU at Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti. The Wildcats will host the third and final game of the series on Sept. 5, 2020.
Anyone on here ever been to a sellout game at Rynearson?

Title man -- thought this was gonna be about camps. clickbait

The title is actually more straightforward than what your intuition told you it was going to be about.

You way overthought that one

i take my beating
November 1st, 2016 at 11:40 AM ^
Not really. The title says exactly what is happening
November 1st, 2016 at 11:42 AM ^
What about this is clickbait? There will be an SEC team playing football in Ypsi at Eastern.
November 1st, 2016 at 11:55 AM ^
Because its vague. I don't really care and I think people get way too worked up about titles here, but a much better one would be "EMU football to play Kentucky in Ypsilanti in 2019"
But its really not a big deal

I said better, not more informative. A title is a summary and typically is informative, but if it makes you feel cool to be snarky, then snark away.
The simple truth is that this was a title that forced you to click if you wanted to know what it meant. That basically defines clickbait, but whatever, this is a stupid discussion.

dude.

Click bait? You think that Ypsituckyboy has advertising on his page?
November 1st, 2016 at 11:38 AM ^
They don't call it Ypsitucky for nothing.
I don't think Rynearson has ever been to a sellout at Rynearson.

"A single-game record crowd of 25,009 was on hand, Sept. 16, 1996, to watch the Eagles dismantle UNLV, 51-6."
"During the summer of 1992, seating was added on the east side to bring capacity to the current total of 30,200."
To be honest, unless Kentucky brings a lot of fans, I don't think this game will sell out either.

I am an EMU alumnus that spent 5 years there and I have never even been in Rynearson for a football game, let alone a sellout.

That's the second mention of Buchanan in a week on this blog -- how many people do we have living in the sticks?

When I lived in Lexington 2012-13, I saw EMU take on the defending NCAA Champions at Rupp Arena. I saw 8 fans in Eastern colors, and really tried hard to spot more. After most EMU scores, you could literally hear one person whoop or cheer. The locals weren't unfriendly, just really, really perplexed.

All of the UF fans I work with would drown in their emotions if this happens.

No, not the laser cats. Damn us.

Props to UK for actually traveling North of the Mason-Dixon.
Hope they lose.

They'll figure some way out of the contract before 2019. They'll think of the kids - making them play in snow in September is cruel.

Why no SEC at the big house? LSU, Florida and Alabama can't find the way? They should try Google maps, it is great.

Kentucky has a football team?

As a Kentucky resident I can attest that this is pretty much the sentiment down here....

MSU was supposed to play at EMU that season. EMU asked out of the game so they could make more money.
November 1st, 2016 at 1:07 PM ^
I remember when MSU announced their "Tour of Michigan" or whatever they called it, consisting of home-and-homes with all three FBS directional Michigan schools. Some Sparty slaps on my Facebook lauded it as this big show of philantrophy; that MSU was helping out the state of Michigan and bolstering the economy. I just sat and laughed at the thought of MSU playing at Rynearson Stadium.
November 1st, 2016 at 3:45 PM ^
How about them losing at Spartan Stadium to CMU three weeks after that happy announcement?
November 1st, 2016 at 12:05 PM ^
Will EMU even still be D1 by then? How's their attendance this year? At least they've fielded a competitive team this season.
November 1st, 2016 at 12:06 PM ^
SEC in a very technical sense. I mean, it's not even Vandy.
November 1st, 2016 at 12:10 PM ^
Remember when Kentucky was up and coming?
November 1st, 2016 at 12:14 PM ^
travelling to Eastern Michigan? Ouch. I've never understood why power 5 schools do this. Okie State went to Central, Baylor played at Buffalo as a top 10 team a few years ago. Why? Save some money versus just paying for a two game series in your house?
