Week 9: Best thing you saw...
Before being obvious about the obvious best thing on an obvious observation of obviousness...
All but 2 undefeated teams played today and all on the road. Something clearly Halloween-ie in the air and some great finishes ended some perfect seasons - great game in Mad-town, the safety for WYO that knocks off Boise St., WVU annhiliated by the dancing 40-year old, and Texas ends Baylor's run. Not to mention Louisville's late magic over...Virginia?, and the finish in Tallahassee. Incredible week of games.
So...about that...reclamation projects typically happen in phases. Obviously, the best thing I saw today was seeing phase 1 of the Order Restoration Project completed today in East Lansing.
Outside of soundly beating a rival (and having coachable items to retain focus) Clemson v Free Shoes U was very entertaining and Dalvin Cook was very impressive in space (except for the dropped pass - that didn't hurt).
What obvious thing was the best you saw today? And how about among the non-obvious?

I remember the '90 game at home when MSU upset us, they were un-ranked and we were ranked number 1. Moller went for a 2 point conversion and Howard was tripped in endzone or else he would have made that catch. If it was 1990, this board would be in melt down mode. Even though I think we are a lot better than Sparty, at least we did not let them upset us like they did back in 1990.

All the other undefeated lost their road games. Bye Felicias.
Even the top "one loss" teams -- UL and OSU -- were underwhelming in their wins, guven the opponents. (I di give some credit to NU, that guy Carr can play for my team any day.)
Cant wait to see if all 4 of us pull this off. I still feel like Clemson has a loss in them, but instead of benefitting OSU (who will have 2+ losses at end of regular season) it probably will send UL to the #4 seed.

De'Veon trucking Riley Bullough on his TD run near the left pylon. That fired me up to the tune of a lot of F U Riley Bullough shouted at my TV.
Brock Huard annoyed me many times during the broadcast but he did have a few insightful things to say too - my favorite being on a completed pass by Speight "....the msu safety there......I really dunno what he was doing".

Speight continues to get better. Hung in the pocket a couple times and took a hit while delivering a good throw.

He really did play a great game. That subtle side step to avoid a sack in the 2nd quarter when #20 was on a corner blitz was a thing of beauty.
I'm not even mad at him for throwing that pick on the wheel route. The play was well designed and everyone bit on it except for Hicks. Hicks just made a great read and play there.

I'm not going to beat my chest before they win games, but winning a game against a rival on the road has to give confidence to this team for the games to come. Just two years ago a win like this would have seemed impossible. Today we saw a team jump a huge hurdle and take the next big step to being a championship team.

At that moment we could not be beat. He was not going to get caught from behind but when he broke the tape at the goal line and the game was cemented. Was my favorite thing I saw yesterday! The irony of Dantoni saying what comes around goes around in my ears. The Maise and Blue in the stands was a close second personally. Nice day for Wolverines to represent, way to go brothers and sisters in blue!

for like 7 straight plays with goal to go was fantastic. Peppers was amazing, and it was great to watch the crowd cheer for the "fight" the losing team showed as things have returned to normal.

We had a closer game than most of us wanted at the end, but it wasn't nearly as close as Nebraska's OT loss or Louisville and Clemson winning at the last minute.

Contrary to best laid plans, I was in the car for the first half. So I had to listen on Sirius radio, which featured Sparty's homer crew. Can tell 'ya, they're not Ufer-quality. Aside from the obvious bias (which was very diffcult to listen to), they couldn't describe the game for shit. When Hill got his unsporting conduct, I thought he came to the pile 5 seconds late and destroyed the guy when everyone was getting up. When McDowell got his call, They were ripping the refs for not calling Cole, even muttering that they know who rules the B1G (intimating the refs giving UM an obvious call). When Speight completed that bomb to Darboh after evading the hit, it sounded like he threw it while being dragged down and it only went for 10. Those guys were awful.
So, with that setup, the best thing I saw was the DVR showing me just how in control Michigan was in that first half. The icing was hearing "DOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM", which did not come across on the radio at all! That was an AWESOME way to rep, travelers - congrats and upvotes to all of you!!!
And Speight picking up where he left off last week was fantastic, especially considering the circumstances - on the road in a real rivalry game.
Lots of great games yesterday, as always in CFB. But I was happiest to see Wisconsin finally get that close win over a top 10 team. Took 'em three tries, but they got it!
One last thing I'll say, which will probably get me downvotes... I'll say nice job to Sparty for actually showing up and not quiting. They were thoroughly outplayed all day, yet they played hard. As much as I don't like them, I can appreciate a team that plays hard...

of separation between himself and the rest of the players on the field in his beautiful, athletic, and studly 90 yard sprint after recovering the fumble on MSU's completely irrational 2 point conversion attempt before reaching the goal line, dipping his head at the imaginary tape to finish the play with style. Speight's terrific one mistake performance in the face of all the heat Sparty could bring on hm. Darboh's best game ever as a wide receiver.
