Your Employer sucks like mine and the office is open today NEGBANG
While driving to the office this morning, I was the only car at a major stop light. On a typical workday I would have been joined by at least 40 cars. There is actual GOOD football starting in 2 hours and I will be here AT LEAST 5 more. NEGBANG MY LIFE.

I am a teacher, I may not make even half as much money as the people I graduated with at Michigan - but I get to turn off my alarm clock for 2 weeks straight around the holidays! Of course, I spent most of this time reading Peppa Pig books to my daughter.

I was expecting a nice light traffic drive down 95 today and got a broken down tractor trailor blocking a lane instead... add and extra 30 minutes to my commute on a light traffic day. SUCKS! Also here till 5PM. On a positive, it is my last day here and I start a new position on Monday!

...but, unless you work for a major City, your days "on" consist of rough-housing in the station, playing X-Box, cooking chili, and watching football on TV - with the occasional false alarm run, all while collecting a bunch of overtime.
Jealous - if I had to do it all over again, I would have bypassed school and gone that route.

Every year up until this year, we could "work" from home (i.e. respond to emails reasonably promptly) for the week between Xmas and NY. New boss says gotta be in the office, despite not having a damn thing to do. Frrt

I made millions of dollars by age 30 and have been comfortably retired since then. My day consists of enjoying life everyday...................I wish. A guy can dream though

You have a "decided schematic advantage" in your financial planning, Charlie. Most of us can only hope to get millions for failing in our jobs not once, but thrice.

Yeah, I think everyone would love to be in a position where they work because they want to, not because they need to.

I'm home with a beeper on call.
It beats being in the office, but the freedom is limited with the old school beeper - electronic tether on.

My office is closed today, because I said so.
One of my main philosphies of life: You can always make more money, but you can't make more time.

Self-employed so the work does not get done without me in the office. However, I am making sure I get home by the time the playoffs start.

I was taking the day off just like three out of the five other project managers are doing. I needed to come in to meet with a couple of technicians to ensure we were all on the same page. While i was there, I got my annual bonus and my annual raise. It worked out.

Normally, we get New Year's Eve off anyway at work, so even if I weren't in the midst of a short-term leave for medical, today would be coded "holiday" in my time. One of the few niceties that I get actually, but of course if we were in the midst of a storm, everyone would be at work (except me for the time being, which would suck because storm pay is best pay). Either way, it's paid time.

How about them hospital workers? Place NEVER closes. Always there. Just repeat after me when you feel trapped at work: IT's good to have a job...It's good to have a job...it's good to have a job.
