"I love it that Ivy League coaches are coming to our camp and Big Ten coaches are coming to our camp. South Florida is coming. We've got about 70 schools that are coming to our camp."

You must not have watched much of the post season. Jones absolutely destroyed the #1 and #2 teams in college football last year on the biggest stage. Jones will be their starter. Barrett is their future and a good one at that.

I trust that Beilein knows a heck of a lot more than me.
My main concern is the point guard situation. The way the current scholarship situation sits, we don't have a scholarship to give out to a point guard until after Walton has graduated. I know there is probable attrition between now and next year, but it just scares me the thought of the possibility of having a freshman point guard start. I think we got a little lucky Burke's freshman year that he was able to come in and be as good as he was. Outside of maybe Irvin, I do not see too many early entry threats.

This just sounds like coach speak. But if Morris is truly unable to separate himself in the spring with 2 years of college experience, I'd bet on one of the younger guys emerging ahead of him in the fall.

Upvoted myself for being the only one who likes my humor. The 2013 documentary had me in a nostalgic mood today.

Are there any rules anywhere against doing this? I would love to see him on the team for the big ten tournament.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Barrett is not leaving||
I don't see Barrett going somewhere and sitting out a year and giving up a year of eligibility. He's a freshman. Braxton is gone after next year (if he stays). I would highly doubt Cardale comes back for a 5th year. Barrett knows his chance is coming even if he loses the job next year.

You risk losing all three if Barrett starts. Coaches probably don't think like that, but Barrett is obviously back if he doesn't play.

I think you could ask 3 different people and they'd have him on 3 different places on the depth chart.

As an 11 year old from Columbus, I felt I could relate to Marcus Ray. His hit on Boston and quotes about why he choose Michigan over Ohio State made me a lifelong fan.
Ian Gold was injured, but the way he seemed to inspire the team made me look up to him.

I am wondering the same. Recruits are still mentioning his name, but I thought I had read on this site he wasn't a guarantee to be retained.

Haha! The Go Blue is like the equivalent of saying no offense. Nothing else that is said matters.

Thanks I got it!

Does anybody have a link for those of us without big ten network? I'm currently listening on the radio feed.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||If he waited two years, he||
If he waited two years, he wouldn't have any eligibility left. He has already used his redshirt. So he'd lose a year of eligibility in a transfer. I highly doubt Urban would name a starter after the spring. It would make sense for him to stay, fight for the job and leave if he doesn't get it after the season.
|20 weeks 5 days ago||Jones||
It would make little sense for Cardale to transfer before the season. He would lose one of his two years of eligibility. It would makes most sense for him to use the 5th year transfer rule. He'd at least have a chance to play next year even if he lost the starting job.

In my head, I keep seeing the scene from Billy Madison where he catches the dodgeball and then says, "Now you're all in big trouble!"

Peppers deciding to stay that 5th year would be the gift.
|22 weeks 4 days ago||There's only two scholarships||
There's only two scholarships left to give out over the next two years. One of those it looks like is going to go to a point guard, the other probably to a wing 3/4 type. With Teske coming in 2016, these are our bigs the next 3-4 years. There will be no new recruits, so we will need to develop the guys we have.

That was aided by a coaching change and a few timely recruits midseason.
|43 weeks 1 day ago||Redshirt frosh last spring||
Seems kind of odd to give freshman award to a rising junior in school, but maybe they were still considering Wormley a freshman since he was still a frosh eligibility wise last school year. It does seem like a stretch, if it is truely a freshman award.

Everyone takes the close corner 3. I'd use the turbo to get open and let Nik shoot from his sweet spot. Then Id pound CW down low when I needed a basket.
|1 year 6 weeks ago||first thought||
My first thought was I support any shirt with Dennis Norfleet in the front and center.
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Irvin||
If true, I'm going to miss watching GR3 play. He was a big part of our last two runs. I am feeling optimistic about the future when a lot of his minutes will probably go towards Zak Irvin. Michigan basketball is in good hands. This probably pushes him into the starting lineup if Nik is leaning towards the NBA.

Max also graduates in 2015. He may decide to go to grad school somewhere else or not play a 5th year. He will have a choice to make as well after next season.

That birth year doesn't seem right. He wasn't even alive when Charles Woodson was playing for Michigan.
|1 year 8 weeks ago||My point was on the majority||
My point was on the majority of D-1 programs such as the mid majors. WIth the the top 10-20 athletic departments, there are different motives in play.
|1 year 8 weeks ago||At first glance||
At first glance, I thought you meant to Beilein's left. Her expression also works. She must be looking 20 feet in the air.
|1 year 8 weeks ago||They are already getting paid||
I agree with this sentiment. Factor in coaching time, travel, training, tutors and equipment and the expenses go into the 100s of thousands per athlete. The vast majority of D-1 athletes are getting a great deal out of a scholarship. Besides, most athletic departments are barely breaking even if at all. There are a few athletes on every major team that the school probably takes advantage of with jersey sales, etc. No system is perfect. To me though, more than 95% of D-1 athletes are getting a great deal.
Those student loans take forever to pay off and the stipends these kids receive are larger than most kids make working part time.
