That was aided by a coaching change and a few timely recruits midseason.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||Redshirt frosh last spring||
Seems kind of odd to give freshman award to a rising junior in school, but maybe they were still considering Wormley a freshman since he was still a frosh eligibility wise last school year. It does seem like a stretch, if it is truely a freshman award.

Everyone takes the close corner 3. I'd use the turbo to get open and let Nik shoot from his sweet spot. Then Id pound CW down low when I needed a basket.
|32 weeks 2 days ago||first thought||
My first thought was I support any shirt with Dennis Norfleet in the front and center.
|32 weeks 2 days ago||Irvin||
If true, I'm going to miss watching GR3 play. He was a big part of our last two runs. I am feeling optimistic about the future when a lot of his minutes will probably go towards Zak Irvin. Michigan basketball is in good hands. This probably pushes him into the starting lineup if Nik is leaning towards the NBA.

Max also graduates in 2015. He may decide to go to grad school somewhere else or not play a 5th year. He will have a choice to make as well after next season.
|33 weeks 4 days ago||1998?!||
That birth year doesn't seem right. He wasn't even alive when Charles Woodson was playing for Michigan.
|35 weeks 5 hours ago||My point was on the majority||
My point was on the majority of D-1 programs such as the mid majors. WIth the the top 10-20 athletic departments, there are different motives in play.
|35 weeks 8 hours ago||At first glance||
At first glance, I thought you meant to Beilein's left. Her expression also works. She must be looking 20 feet in the air.
|35 weeks 8 hours ago||They are already getting paid||
I agree with this sentiment. Factor in coaching time, travel, training, tutors and equipment and the expenses go into the 100s of thousands per athlete. The vast majority of D-1 athletes are getting a great deal out of a scholarship. Besides, most athletic departments are barely breaking even if at all. There are a few athletes on every major team that the school probably takes advantage of with jersey sales, etc. No system is perfect. To me though, more than 95% of D-1 athletes are getting a great deal.
Those student loans take forever to pay off and the stipends these kids receive are larger than most kids make working part time.
|35 weeks 10 hours ago||Spike||
I am agreeing with the point of your post on Spike development. Spike did have the offensive game of his life in the first half against Louisville, but Michigan DID lose ground to Louisville in the first half with Burke out and Spike in the game.
|35 weeks 2 days ago||Second game||
I'd argue Michigan has been better in the second game of the NCAA weekends. It seems that out of conference opponents have a tough time preparing for Beilein's offense in less than 48 hours. Over the last 4 years, look at the opponents: Duke (L), VCU, Florida, Louisville (L) , Texas. Michigan played well in all those game. The two losses came against very good 1 seeds in close games.
|35 weeks 3 days ago||Friday game||
I would think regardless of who Michigan plays, everyone will be pulling for the underdog vs Mercer/Tennessee. I'm planning on heading over if Michigan makes the round of 8. That should be a much cheaper ticket on the secondary market.
|37 weeks 1 day ago||Pre season tournaments||
There used to be a rule in place where you could only play in a certain number of them. I believe it was two every four years.
|37 weeks 2 days ago||2 seed in midwest||
I would very much like to see Michigan get the 2 seed in Witchita State's midwest (Indianapolis). For this to happen, Michigan will need a good showing in the big ten tournament and finish ahead of Wisconsin and Kansas on the S curve. The wo other teams that seem to be competing for the 2 seed in the midwest. Obviously to make the bracket work some exceptions need to be made, but these seem to be the three teams vying for indianapolis' 2 seed.

I'm here for the posbang. I was only alive for half the championship season in '85-'86. So, I'm unsure if I can claim this as my second in my lifetime.

My idea of a party in 1986 was a little bit different than it is now.
|43 weeks 4 days ago||Ahead of Kansas||
As fans, it is fun to speculate and I think this is a good question. How could you not have Michigan in the top 15 at the very least with a hypothetical win?
|46 weeks 1 day ago||No||
Three rivalry games on the road next year where Michigan will almost certainly be an underdog in each one. The offensive line is again going to be young and mostly inexperienced. There are lots of question marks. Who is the free safety? Nobody outside of Gardner and Funchess has really proven themselves on the offensive side of the ball.
|49 weeks 1 day ago||Eligible to backdate 1...||
The 2012 class had 25 players with 3 early enrollees (all eligible to be backdated, prior class had 20). That left 3 spots open (25 max per year) to be backdated in 2013 by early enrollees. Last years class was 27, so if you take out the 3, we have one spot left in the 2013 class to backdate. This is all probably irrelevent because if you dont take more than 20 players, there is no advantage to backdating. The max you can backdate is 5, and there would already be 5 open spots for the following class.
As mentioned, the main issue is the 85 scholarship limit which we are right on the nose, pending unrenewed fifth years and attrition. So yes, I believe we could backdate one but that would only be relevent if we took more than 20 players this year.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||Taylor||
Taylor is a junior, he was one of Hoke's first commits. He is what he is at this point. He's a solid, not elite, big ten corner.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||MSU 26 Michigan 16||
I think the Michigan State defense will force a few tournovers and mostly keep the Michigan offense in check. I predict Michigan's defense to play well despite having their backs against the wall a couple times.
|1 year 4 weeks ago||Donnal||
He is a top 100 recruit. I can't remember Michigan ever redshirting a player that highly regarded out of high school. I expect Donnal to play and help the team.

|1 year 14 weeks ago||Could be wrong here||
My memory is telling me that Lewan got credit for the touchdown, but he wasn't the one that actually recovered the fumble. There were two lineman at the bottom of the pile and Lewan was the latter one in. Not that it matters.

Also Hack'em Warrick.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||5:00 start||
I'm fairly certain the 5:00 start on the Penn State game is related to the sanctions. I don't believe PSU is allowed to host night games under their probation, and they are pushing the game as far back as the NCAA will allow.
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Correct||
He is graduating from Michigan, so he's not really transferring at all. Morgan sat out that 2009-10 season due to injury and Blake also redshirted. That was a year to forget.
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Agreed||
If GR3 and McGary stay, with the additions of Irvin and Walton, they could potentially be as good as the team this year. We should have several young players (Stauskas, Levert, Albrecht, Beifeldt) improve over the summer.
Looks like a top 5 team to me...
|1 year 31 weeks ago||May just be in denial....||
Isn't it a little odd that Beilein wasn't expecting this quick of an announcement? I'm thinking if he was headed to the NBA, wouldn't he at least discuss his options with Beilein first out of respect? I'm an eternal pessimist, but this just seems a little odd. I'm also usually wrong, so maybe this just falls into that category...
