What is the record for 5 stars in modern times?
December 1st, 2016 at 8:52 PM ^
...currently has 163-ish on their roster.
December 1st, 2016 at 9:06 PM ^
The sad part is that I don't think your estimate is a misprint
December 1st, 2016 at 10:13 PM ^
Hey man, saban just really connects with kids. I mean he recruited this well in Lansing too, remember?
December 2nd, 2016 at 12:28 PM ^
Are you comparing recruiting at Alabama the same as recruiting at Michigan State? If so, argument over here.
December 1st, 2016 at 9:22 PM ^
Apparently, Baron Browning visited Ohio State this past weekend with fellow Texan, and 5* DT Marvin Wilson to sell him on Columbus as well. It may have worked:
December 1st, 2016 at 9:09 PM ^
I think they had a few with 6 or 7 five stars in it and the rest were 4* guys. It's why they were the team to beat in the mid-to-late 2000's
December 1st, 2016 at 9:24 PM ^
Yea. And it's not like we can say they don't develop talent. That's the scary part. Immense respect for urbz even tho I don't like him. He's a stud.

Unless you want to count former Urbz QBs that have to try and become a WR or TE in the NFL.
His offense obviously works in college but his primitive passing game doesn't teach NFL level skills.
December 1st, 2016 at 10:10 PM ^
I agree 100%. We will always get the better NFL type QB's.

I'd rather have Denard or Tebow in college over Tom Brady any day. Producing NFL talent only matters in recruiting, and even then, Urban still recruits QB's incredibly well. Having "the better NFL type QB's" doesn't matter at all
December 2nd, 2016 at 10:07 AM ^
OLman cannot run down field (as far)like the NFL will eliminate alot of BS by theys spread teams.
December 2nd, 2016 at 12:33 AM ^
in the NFL. There's Aaron Hernandez (before the murder), Riley Cooper, and Percy Harvin (before he became a pain in the ass). Point is NFL don't care much for which offensive system you come from as long as you have talent. A lot of successful NFL players came from the spread offense.
December 2nd, 2016 at 8:02 AM ^
years he's been coaching?
December 2nd, 2016 at 12:37 AM ^
Might not develop them for the NFL, but they are pretty much all great CFB QBs. Barrett's kicked our ass 2 years in a row and is coming back for round three.
As for the WRs, OSU is doing just fine there too.

I guess I watched a different game than you this year.
December 2nd, 2016 at 9:46 AM ^
IDK if 250 yards total again UM is "kicking our ass."
December 2nd, 2016 at 7:27 AM ^
Stop calling him Urbz.
December 2nd, 2016 at 12:29 PM ^
Is Urban coaching in the NFL or college? This argument is irrelevant.
December 2nd, 2016 at 9:25 AM ^
Holy crap! It isn't going to get any easier to get wins againt OSU anytime soon.
December 2nd, 2016 at 9:58 AM ^
It was never going to be easy. Meyer is a great coach and OSU has been chugging along as a well-oiled machine for 25+ years (the Fickell year aside). Michigan is still climbing out of the depths of despair. What Harbaugh has done in just 2 years is crazy. Michigan was the better team this year and I'd expect them to remain on par, but it's never going to be easy to beat a loaded team with a great coach.
December 2nd, 2016 at 10:12 AM ^
Hmmm, don't know how you would get from my post that I was inferring it was ever going to be "EASY" to beat OSU. What I am suggesting is that beating them has been incredibly difficult (one win in the last decade) and not going to get any easier. A similar anology would be if Conor McGregor gained greater wrestling / grappling skills. It wouldn't make it any easier beating him, but in no way does that suggest it will ever be easy to beat him.
December 12th, 2016 at 12:46 PM ^
You literally said it won't get any EASIER, implying that you thought it might get easier...and I'm saying what made you think it would get easier?
It's always been hard to beat them, and it always will be. They won't make the mistake of hiring a guy Dave Brandon to run their athletic department or someone like RichRod/Hoke to coach their football team.

The 2004 USC class had six five-stars. Harbaugh beat them.
The 2006 USC class had six five-stars. Harbaugh beat them.
The 2007 USC class had six five-stars. Harbaugh beat them.
The 2017 OSU class has six five-stars. Harbaugh will beat them.

December 1st, 2016 at 9:47 PM ^
With almost entirely 2 and 3 star recruits.
December 1st, 2016 at 9:52 PM ^
If he could have done it here. I think the major difference is that Sneaky Pete didn't take Harbaugh serious, while Urban burns for the Michigan game every year. It's shown the past several years when his team seems to play down for MSU but is just ready to go the following weekend.
December 1st, 2016 at 9:54 PM ^
Right, because if there's one thing we know about Pete Carroll, it's that he doesn't take his opponents seriously.
December 1st, 2016 at 9:58 PM ^
He wasn't the Jim Harbaugh we all know now. And I'm willing to bet he was looking past the previous years 1-11 Stanford.
December 1st, 2016 at 10:02 PM ^
Well he wasn't looking past him in 2009, and he lost by 34.
December 1st, 2016 at 10:24 PM ^
It is a fact that Harbaugh boasted a 2-1 record against Pete Carroll's USC, but I honestly feel like only 1 of those teams Harbaugh beat was "championship-caliber" (2007).

Legit don't know how Michigan catches up. Ohio State is gonna have a big ol' talent gap for the next few seasons. Michigan is going to have to work wonders with finding diamonds in the rough and development.

Only 11 can be on the field at any one time. We just need the top end of ours to perform well, plus better development, scheme and coaching. And maybe a little bit of luck at least once in a decade.
December 2nd, 2016 at 12:32 PM ^
Only 11 being on the field at one time? Is that some kind of new rule?
