Judging by last week...I don't know if a 60% Cook is any better. He could barely throw last week.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:44 PM ^
Or they just came to the realization that Hackenberg will have 2 seconds to throw the ball behind whatever it is that those 5 players in front of him are doing.

Didn't someone say that -1.5 spread was a typo?
November 24th, 2015 at 8:49 PM ^
setting a line like that doesn't seem like a good way to make $$$, but what do I know.
MSU -11 is reasonable, Cook or not.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:58 PM ^
while it is absurd, the opening line is still listed as msu - 1.5 on vegas insider. so if it was a typo, it hasn't been corrected yet.

The only one quoted was from a little offshore book with low limits.
November 24th, 2015 at 9:29 PM ^
Yeah, that always felt like a bad line. I know other people have referenced it, but books aren't going to be that off usually.

November 24th, 2015 at 8:47 PM ^
I don't think that's right. I've got it as being off the books right now. No line anyplace because of Cook's injury. Caesers, MGM and The Station arent taking bets on it as of today.

Not all books have line but those that do moved it to -10.5 to -11.5
November 24th, 2015 at 8:55 PM ^
1.5 and 10.5 are not the same thing. You suggested it was 1.5 in your OP.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:58 PM ^
Look at the opener. It was -1.5 now it is -10.5 to -11.5
November 24th, 2015 at 8:55 PM ^
It would probably be off the books if cook WAS playing. THE ohio beat penn state by 28 and staee beat THE ohio by 3, so they should be favored by 31. WHAT, only 11 points! MOAR DISRESPEKT!!!

They did. For MSU this season has been the gift that keeps on giving.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:44 PM ^
MSU won at #3 OSU without him. Maize and blue glasses aside, MSU's D is going to murder Hackenburg and may score 2 TDs by themselves

November 24th, 2015 at 8:46 PM ^
That seems closer to reality. State's OL will be able to hold against their DL and State's DL will manhandle their OL. Unless they max protect everytime they go to the air I don't see Hackenberg having enough time to compete this week.
But I also thought State would beat Nebraska by 4 scores, so who really knows anymore.

Hey, you throw point spreads out the window when you are playing for the cherished Land Grant trophy.

When was this line ever at 1.5? You're the second person I've seen suggest this, but everything I can find shows the line opened at 11. Most books haven't even posted a line for this game yet. Frankly, MSU -1.5 makes zero sense, and I'd be shocked if that line ever existed.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:54 PM ^
November 24th, 2015 at 9:02 PM ^
Find me the actual book that opened with that line and I will show you a book that will most likely be shutdown by 10pm saturday. That has to be a typo, I follow these lines closely and can assure you that I have not seen a single book that ever posted anything remotely close to 1.5.

Offshore is entirely worthless. I could make up a line and call myself an offshore account.
Vegasinsider is not a book, quick referencing it.

I'll take that line. Hackenburg is tired of getting sacked every damn play and is done with psu. wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt finish the game.

Hackenberg is the perfect QB to take advantage of MSU's weak secondary. Too bad he will have -2.3 seconds to throw the ball. The -1.5 line seemed insane, this one seems more correct regardless of who starts at QB for MSU.
November 24th, 2015 at 9:05 PM ^
My gameplan, if I were Hackenberg, would be to just lob the ball as high and far as I can the second I get it. Who knows, there will probably be 3 open PSU receivers ready to catch the ball.

Seriously. Just put your long snapper in, stand 30 yards behind the LOS to buy time from the rush, and heave a pass as high and far as you can every snap.
Hope for PI or that MSU's DBs are their normal crappy selves.
You'll get picked off most of the time, but you're Penn State . . . you'd be punting anyway.
If two or three of these hit big, you could pull off the upset.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:20 PM ^
You just described how my 11 year plays Madden.
Only thing you forgot was that you have to go for it on a 4th and 32 from your own 5 yard line.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:28 PM ^
Sounds like he has a job all lined up when Franklin gets booted.
November 24th, 2015 at 9:05 PM ^
Is that they're not going to be dumb enough to think they can beat baby bro in the trenches (Franklin's dumbness notwithstanding). They will follow the Nebraska model and arm punt all game. should be good for a few scores. I think their D is good to hold MSU's O to less than 20. I think Green wins, but I'm not seeing this destruction everyone else seems to see.
November 24th, 2015 at 9:10 PM ^
Nebraska had a very mobile QB though. Armstrong scrambled alot which lead to 0 sacks from MSU's defense. Hackenberg, while a better arm-punter than Armstrong, won't be outrunning anyone.
