Texas loses 50-7: players tweet about transferring at HALFTIME

Submitted by wolverine1987 on

It is getting really hot for Charlie Strong at Texas, a guy I thought was a great hire but sheesh, this does not look good. I don't care how good TCU has become, you can't be Texas and lose 50-7, espicially when you are known as a defensive coach. Plus at least one, and reportedely two, pleyers were tweeting about transferring DURING the game.

i more vividly recall Lloyd ended his career getting carried off the field after a win against florida Those last 4 losses to ohio st are forgiven because both teams were solid. That wouldn't happen to dantonio because it's basically unprecedented for neither M-MSU to suck for a 4 year stretch. If dantonio loses 4 in a row the last will be by 30+ points and Staee will be 3-9, and even texas will be relieved he didn't sign

Imagine that for a few unneeded millions your team gave drove off 4 major programs including your 100 year in-state rival, plus you lost the CCG and now you routinely lose the top recruits in the state to the rival that left, plus another team that until now could never compete for those recruits (tcu)...again because of the admin's greed only way around it is if the network doesn't get renewed and they join a real conference

If they had any sense, they would let it become "The Big 12 Network" and set up a revenue sharing model like everyone else has.  Before they drive away even Oklahoma and they are left in a world where they can't even recruit or compete with Baylor, TCU, and A&M.

Which is exactly why it will never happen.

He was FaceTiming last week in the locker room.

FACETIMING! DURING A FOOTBALL GAME!

Charlie Strong has lost all control.

Dantonio is, alas, a very good coach, but is he well-suited for Texas? Michigan State allowed him the time to develop his program and does not demand much from a coach as the head of a program; at Texas you're expected to charm the donors as well as produce a football team. Further, while Dantonio has improved his recruiting, recruiting great players has never been his strength; he gets his guys and coaches them up. That has not, in the past, been the Texas profile.

And in that state it never will be. Now, perhaps a coach can adapt--Urban Meyer's offense certainly handled top recruits just fine--but Texas is a place that demands success right away. Strong is practically gone, and he hasn't even coached a season and a half yet.

Like RichRod found out coming to Ann Arbor, at the high profile jobs there's a lot more to the gig than just coaching. Dantonio can scowl around East Lansing and they're happy. At a school like Texas you have to be the personality and public persona of the program too. That isn't Dantonio's forte and that's why he'll probably retire in East Lansing

It's Nick Saban or BUST for them.

Just like it was Harbaugh or bust for us...no one else would've been able to be a complete home run for Michigan. No one (I don't consider Saban or Meyer options...)

Meyer was a home run for OSU, Harbaugh for us...Saban for Texas (or anyone else).

USC...they basically need Pete Carroll back. Miami...I actually think they'd be the easiest power school to bring back from the dead. Why? Because if you can recruit SoFla...you're golden.

I see what you did there...

Oh and Miami should just hire Butch Davis back.

He fixed the academic problems with the program after Erickson left and got them back to prominence in the 90s and early 00s.

He would have been the perfect coach for Texas.  Dantonio gets respect from his players and he gets results on the field.  It took Saban 4 years to get a winning record at MSU.  Recruiting at MSU can't be easy.  Skip Bayless could land a top 10 class down in Texas if he was coach.
