Wow.  That's.....unkind.

Wow.  That's.....unkind.

Another national…

Another national championship?  Let's go get it!

I live in northeast Kansas. …

I live in northeast Kansas.  Nobody's mentioning Bill Self?  Cumong man, take the guy.  /s

Of course, the fact is, nobody wants him at Michigan either.

I used to like basketball.

I used to like basketball.

Point taken.  I think I…

Point taken.  I think I worded my post badly.  I've followed the NBA since I was old enough to know that the Trail Blazers were amazing (approximately age 10) and Dave Twardzik was the best player ever.  Unlike Jim Harbaugh leaving for the NFL, I felt in my bones that Beilein was not going to be a good fit for the NBA.  He did not harm the program by leaving, but I was sad that he was going to end his career not in a blaze of honor and appreciation (as he deserved) but in an administrative reshuffling by an organization that couldn't capitalize on his strengths.

Please stop reiterating. …

Please stop reiterating.  Umpteen times is enough.

Howard is the second M…

Howard is the second M basketball coach in a row to take guaranteed Michigan icon status and squander it.  Beilein by leaving, and Juwan by coming.  Both still deserve credit for their contributions, but sadly both have added asterisks.

Let's get rid of Warde by…

Let's get rid of Warde by making him the men's basketball coach.  Then the new AD could fire him and get someone useful.

Would that count toward a…

Would that count toward a double-double?

I'm going to watch this…

I'm going to watch this thread, which will be a hundred times more enjoyable (and entertaining) than watching the game.

I used to like basketball so…

I used to like basketball so much.  I would like to feel that way again.

Shoot.  Bad time to be…

Shoot.  Bad time to be getting old.  Can I maybe hit pause and get old later, when the fad for beating up old people has become a fad for, say, helping people across the street?

In his defense, maybe while…

In his defense, maybe while you're listening so closely to football, you can't hear the injuries as well.

Never, ever gets old.  Ryan…

Never, ever gets old.  Ryan Day, live forever.

Hoke had a knack for…

Hoke had a knack for ignoring serious injuries.

Incognito, apparently.

Incognito, apparently.

My sentiment EXACTLY.  I've…

My sentiment EXACTLY.  I've seen a lot of miracles in my life.  This one?  Lol, nope.

BPONE has switched sports.

BPONE has switched sports.

I'm in Hoyt but close enough…

I'm in Hoyt but close enough to Topeka to count myself among the half dozen or so there.

You can have too much stuff?…

You can have too much stuff??  Someone better let me know where the cutoff is.

Nice plate!  Here's a bang…

Nice plate!  Here's a bang for you from Jackson County, where I have the frame but not the custom plate.

I love your posts, XM!  I…

I love your posts, XM!  I grew up on a truly microscopic farm in the Pacific Northwest (3 acres), where all the work (including using a scythe to cut the hay) was done by the seven sons and five daughters.  We hated it, but here I am on a slightly-less microscopic piece of land in the midwest (12 acres), where we have conscripted our son and three daughters, with pitchforks, to heave hay from the hay wagon into the boxcars where we stored it.  In our nod to the industrial age, we do mow it with a tractor -- but the hay rake used to turn it is more than 100 years old.  The children are grown, but (surprise!), they bring the grandkids over in the summers.  There's something about a farm.

What the heck.  I don't even…

What the heck.  I don't even know how to watch these games.  I was prepared for a loss.

More questions, considering…

More questions, considering that Michigan is the NATIONAL CHAMPION in football.  Is a booming NIL program necessary to win games?  Does it even help in the long run, if players are committing more for the money than for the program itself?  Is it possible to win even if you don't get "big time players" in the portal?  (answer to that seems to be yes, at least recently)  There are lots of variables in college sports programs, including recruiting, development, coaching and locker room culture, solid and supportive fan base, NFL pipeline, and many other things.  NIL is fine, but if you don't have the other things, it will cost you money and not make your program any stronger (my opinion only).

They're narrowing their…

They're narrowing their focus.  Not so much publishing, lots more hospitality industry.  /s, in case that was needed.

Okay, I could watch this on…

Okay, I could watch this on a loop.

FIFY.  Jim's personality is…

FIFY.  Jim's personality is such that many self-important pompous blowhards who were born on third base are not comfortable with his unassuming, unfiltered personality.  He will want people who don't blow smoke and wheedle favors from power brokers.  He will want people who know football and aren't afraid to play it.  This is the future of the program.

Or if you actually belong to…

Or if you actually belong to genus panthera leo.

They'd have you committed to…

They'd have you committed to an asylum.  It did feel like irreparable despair, didn't it?  Even knowing the future of the program, and how quickly the change would begin, it was hard to read that article again.  Like the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, team 144 has erased all the bad.

I'd forgotten about…

I'd forgotten about basketball lately.  Maybe they did this to remind us all that they exist.

For a hot second I thought a…

For a hot second I thought a prescient 9-year-old wrote the column.  Not gonna lie, a little disappointed at first, but this is perfect.

Ha!  Why did I think you…

Ha!  Why did I think you were speaking metaphorically?  I did it thinking there would be some fun schadenfreude on there, and then.....oh.  Fireworks.  :-)

This team is a perfect…

This team is a perfect reflection of its coach, and it's the best team ever.  Thank you, Jim.  I hope you stay, but you do you.

They said they would do it. …

They said they would do it.  They did it.  SO freaking happy.

So much truth there,…

So much truth there, Rendezvous.  I lost my dad to cancer a little more than ten years ago and my mom to dementia/Alzheimer's a little less than ten years ago.  Odd how something as small -- or maybe not so small -- as a football blog can reach into your soul and sustain you during those heavy valleys.

I haven't been called an…

I haven't been called an obsessive degenerate for a few years.  Feels good to have it back.  :-)

How can you not love this…

How can you not love this team?  This just feels like a posbang thread.

I didn't think the /s was…

I didn't think the /s was necessary.  Sorry about that.

There is certainly also …

There is certainly also "music time", in which they are instructed to dance awkwardly.

Oh, that's actually the…

Oh, that's actually the mgoblog banner.  It's big for sure, but probably necessary.

The pictures are great.  The…

The pictures are great.  The captions are almost as awesome as the pictures.  Together, it's perfect.  Thanks for sacrificing a weekend to go to the game so the rest of us could enjoy it!  /s

Nice detail to pick an…

Nice detail to pick an airline with maize and blue so everyone thinks they painted it for you.

It's freezing and snowing…

It's freezing and snowing outside, so tonight was soup, and now it's hot cider.

I'm so nervous about this game.  When I think about it, I really don't think we're going to lose, but it's not like we're playing Eastern Carolina.  Prediction is 34-17.  I really, really want to be right.  (or, I guess, that 56-14 would be nice, too).

That's awesome!  I drink…

That's awesome!  I drink only occasionally, but like several others on here, I imbibe more than my fair share of Diet Coke.  I cut way down with a recent medical scare, but I haven't quit.  Proud of you, Kong.

When (not if) Harbaugh…

When (not if) Harbaugh hoists the championship trophy, I will not weep, and my teeth will remain ungnashed.  Maybe I could get a video of this Doyel guy, though.  That would be fun.

Good job, guys!  Now mom…

Good job, guys!  Now mom says go get some sleep.  You're getting silly.

JJ would give that credit in…

JJ would give that credit in a New York minute.

This probably isn't what you…

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but number of my family members who got engaged during the first half: 1.

That is a personal family record, actually, for Rose Bowl proposals.  Best wishes to Leah and David!

Looking forward to some…

Looking forward to some crimson tears today.  The scarlet ones in November were nice, but crimson will be even better.  Michigan rolls over the tide, 30-14.

Maybe Third Base Day will…

Maybe Third Base Day will change to dark brown Just For Men to see if that makes everything better.
