I doubt they are punished for a loss like this.

They will fall out of the rankings even though they had a close loss to a high ranked opponent. Too many undefeated opponents below them

They blew leads vs Nebraska and UCLA. They needed a miracle to beat Nebraska. Straight thrillers tells me that BYU is no juggernaut.

But we shall see how big of an underdog we will be on the betting lines when they come out later.

UGHHHHHH
I really wanted BYU to be a top 15 team when they came to Ann Arbor.
Hopefully they will still be in the top 25.

I think you mean "Top 3 Teams."
It would be nice to have some middle ground between unranked and #1 and #3.

I'm glad we play them at home, since BYU is a better team than Utah. It will be interesting to see if our DLINE can get any pressure on Magnum. If he's given time he could pick apart our secondary. I hope Rudock works on those passing routes. We need some deep passes to keep BYU defense from focusing on our running game. I just hoe for a close game than we can win!

Utah has a better defense than BYU. Offensively, BYU has better receivers, but Utah has Booker. I'd say the teams are comparable. Olines are comparable. The one significant difference was Hill vs Wilson with Hill being the better QB. But since UM won't play Hill it is irrelevant.

I have confidence that our defense and special teams can handle themselves with BYU. My main concern is with the offense and with the 5th year quarterback and his inaccurate passing. If the offense cannot open up with some deep completions all respect will be lost and BYU will load up for the run.

favor us? This kind of a thing has to be a letdown for BYU.
thoughts?

If they can stay there, that would be optimal. Not sure if they will. Don't forget Northwestern, either!

but I wouldn't count on that 22-25 year old kids have a way of bouncing back pretty easily in these kinds of situations. Just playing at Michigan in that stadium should be great motivation for them.

in a position as a program to care about whether a team in ranked or unranked when they play. We just need wins and to look like progress is being made.
Michigan isn't going to get ranked this year unless crazy things happen. This is a serviceable team with a couple big holes that separate it from Top 25 programs.
