Hoke's "terrific" '13 OL crop now down to Dawson, who can't see the field over Braden and injury prone Kugler. Thanks Brady!
September 10th, 2015 at 4:04 PM ^
seriously, that guy sucked.
September 10th, 2015 at 4:14 PM ^
September 10th, 2015 at 3:07 PM ^
So is the backup LT now Magnuson with Braden to RT? Move in a Dawson or something like that?
September 10th, 2015 at 3:12 PM ^
This really really hurts our O line depth. We cannot afford an injury there now at all. He was already getting snaps and was the next man up, he was going to play a lot this year. This just sucks!
The kid must have screwed up badly to get summarily booted that quickly.
And the 2013 O line class is a disaster, these are the guys who would have been the leaders of the team in 2016 and 2017, the big 22 year old men you want to have to bully people.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:08 PM ^
back. Tell him we were just kidding about changing the dates.

Michigan's rad 2013 OL recruiting class: gone, gone, gone, gone, David Dawson, Patrick Kugler.

Should we contact Landon Dickerson again?
September 10th, 2015 at 3:15 PM ^
Hoping this was an internal issue and that a police report isn't soon to surface...
September 10th, 2015 at 3:21 PM ^
I heard you were swearing, mind if I join in? Crap, boobs, crap!

September 10th, 2015 at 3:16 PM ^
Not good. A definite hit for depth on the offensive line. Must've been pretty bad to not even warrant an indefinite suspension...

The sad part is I feel for the kid. He came from a really rough upbringing in Peoria and this was a dream of his to play at Michigan. I am sure what he did was egregious and it will be both telling and sad when it comes out but this is still a real shame across the board.
Michigan won't win here and neither will LTT. My sincere hope is that whatever happens he gets his life turned around.
We as fans will soldier on but there is a young man here whose entire life has come undone obviously and we should all be cognizant of that. If it is something terrible he has done then hopefully he can learn from it - if it is not then hopefully we as a university can learn from it.
Sad...all...the way...around
September 10th, 2015 at 3:46 PM ^
That pretty much covers it.
September 10th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
I'm familiar with LTT from the academic side of things and he didn't give the slightest hint that he was anything but completely serious about being a student and a scholarship athlete. I can't imagine him doing something that would warrant immediate dismissal like this. I hope that the staff isn't overreacting in some way.

It's too late for AJ but with little Wheatley coming in already at 290 lbs, moving him to tackle seems like almost a no-brainer at this point.

Wow. Not just dismissed, but dismissed with authority. No mincing words or leaving the team for "family reasons". That's a pretty candid statement right there. He must have fucked up pretty bad.

He's got to be in some serious trouble. I hope that he has some good people in his life who will watch out for him... I hope.

Because they are kids. It happens.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
September 10th, 2015 at 3:58 PM ^
The problem is that they're still kids. Their prefrontal cortexes aren't fully mature yet. Foresight, planning and sound decision-making are not hallmarks of the 18-22 age group.
September 10th, 2015 at 4:14 PM ^
Our first Navy Admiral, David Farragut captained a ship at 14.
Expectations, not accommodations help "kids" grow up. Mature.

Anecdotal evidence is fun, but cognitive research demonstrates that college-age people are essentially adolescents.
Of course this doesn't mean that they can't stay out of trouble. But it's much easier for them to become tempted to do foolish things than people older than them. The support system in their brain that can help them avoid doing bad things isn't fully developed.
September 10th, 2015 at 4:34 PM ^
...and evolutionary research demonstrates that adolescence is largely a social construct.
For 200,000 years human were adults as soon as they were capable of reproducing... around 11-12 years of age.
In the last couple hundred years, we've created the non-biological construct of adolescence - which is useful for getting people up to speed in our complex social society.
Now I'll agree that most 18 year olds aren't fully cognitively developed. Neither are most 21 year olds.... but I don't see any reason that "full cognitive development" should be the bright line divider for the age of majority.
September 10th, 2015 at 7:34 PM ^
Well, you beat the crap out of that straw man! Well done.
September 10th, 2015 at 4:03 PM ^
lots of kids that age that get in trouble but if they're not athletes we don't hear about it or care. i mean they're still kids and make big mistakes. without knowing what happened or having grown up in the same environment as LTT you probably won't understand.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:27 PM ^
Wow, I didn't expect to see LTT getting dismissed. Makes me really wonder what he did. I'm sure the rumors will eventually leak out. This hurts our OL depth for 2017. Yikes.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:29 PM ^
My guess is he got caught red handed with something he shouldnt have by one of the coaches. If it was any trouble with the law he would have been suspended indefinitely until a conclusion had been made.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:45 PM ^
A dead girl or a live boy? What could he possibly have on his person that would cause them to kick him off the team in the manner they did?

That's completely just a guess based on his social media pictures, I've got no knowledge of the situation.

Jokes aside, stealing from teammates might fall into this category depending on the coach. (I have no knowledge of the situation either)

I didn't know that happened here. Of course I always chuckle whenever I see Doug Gottlieb on TV, because ND chucked him out for that very infraction.
