Well, it's not the BRAIN Cook writing it, but Nanni does a pretty good job. Come for the Texas Surrender Cobras, stay for the fact that we didn't feature after a loss!

The introductory paragraph alone makes it worth reading.
However this part about PSU's O-line is Gold
Next week start McSorley and a few backup O-line guys
It's time to do some 1st string shaming
"We intentionally started the backups to shame the starters and now everyone's dead" is going to be a great press conference quote, by the way."
Nanni's follow up lines are almost as funny as those of the despairing fans.

But this one made me laugh out loud:
UNC did an awesome impersonation of Peter by denying victory three times in the red zone against South Carolina

Last week is looking better and better as each day passes.

PSU and Texas remind me of our tire fire of last year.
September 9th, 2015 at 2:25 PM ^
PSU in particular is a dead ringer for Michigan 2013-14, a little too close for comfort in fact.

It made me uneasy reading those comments.

Really? For me the main reason is the righteous indignation their fans express that their beloved old grandpa would have career wins taken away for the teeny weeny sin of willfully looking the other way while a sexual predator ruined a dozen or so kids' psyches for the rest of their lives.
The us-against-the-world ethos of their fanbase used to just be unbecoming and obnoxious, then it became downright offensive.
September 9th, 2015 at 3:38 PM ^
Why? Unless this portends the hiring of their own Harbaugh, I'm fine with them going through what we did.

I guess the new guy isn't keeping Tears Of Unfathomable Sadness and Scott Tenorman of the Week? Oh man, when I read other's bile, I want awards handed out, goshdangit!
September 9th, 2015 at 2:23 PM ^
Yup, those were nice and I miss those, particularly TOUS.
HOWEVA, I must say that this new guy (rhymes with Brian) has acquitted himself quite well in week 1. The Texas and PSU features were solid.

Nanni is good, as is Jon Bois. Spencer Hall eclipses them both, though. They have good writing over at SBN.

This quote was my favorite under the Washington State section:
I dont wanna fire him. I just want everyone else to hate him as much as I do.

Everything's coming up Milhouse!

We were awful candidates for TWIS. It's the most positive I've ever seen the fanbase be after a loss

New format seems more focused on a few specific cases than a sweeping overview. Case in point: no Nebraska.
September 9th, 2015 at 2:26 PM ^
It used to go conference by conference, picking one (or two) teams to "feature"
September 9th, 2015 at 4:26 PM ^
I think the reason there is no Nebraska is because their fans were, for the most part, classy about the loss. I went to Corn Nation, their SB blog and this was the closest thing I could find to a post that would be remotely entertaining to TWIS readers. It's by a poster named aroo2977, titled, "This...is...BULLSHIT:"
"The Huskers, losing to BYU?!! At HOME?!?!?!? To a TRUE FUCKING FRESHMAN?!?!!? God I can’t believe this shit. Mike Riley was supposed to be an UPGRADE to Pelini, not a DOWNGRADE! I thought there might be some growing pains, but after Taysom Hill went out, the game was a lock! Or it was SUPPOSED to be a lock. It’s one thing to lose to a Heisman candidate, but a true FRESHMAN On a Hail Mary Joseph Smith?"
Otherwise, it's just normal "sucks to lose" stuff that we did here this weekend. Nebraska fans didn't create enough drama to be featured this week.

Soooooo....We've gone from "three and out" to "drive the ball 80 yards and then throw it away." - from Anchor Of Gold
Historically, at least from a high-level view, for Vanderbilt that is progress - I don't know that anyone would argue with him here.
The Texas stuff was epic too. My favorite:
Toothless. Totally toothless. Perhaps there will be an opponent or two we can gum to death in the upcoming season.
September 9th, 2015 at 2:26 PM ^
This was a very entertaining read..Also it's hilarious when this all isn't happening to us.
September 9th, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
I think that it IS happening to us, and right now - covertly. We are all like "Phew! Glad we're not one of those looooooosers!" This coming off a loss to an (at the time) unranked team. We have finally found a beautiful complacency that will allow us to be happy in any moral victory. We have achieved peak Illinois!
September 9th, 2015 at 2:40 PM ^
We've dealt with a lot of crap for quite a while, but man, it could be way worse. Can you imagine if Brandon and Hoke were still here? Holy fuck! It doesn't take much imagination for that to be a reality. SOOO GLAD WE GOT HARBAUGH!
September 9th, 2015 at 2:38 PM ^
My favorite quote:
Vanderbilt Football: Because Every Platter Needs A Head
That sums up the feeling of many fanbases, including Michigan at times.

They're on this list of rudest college football fans for a reason.
Featured (and relevant-ish to Michigan) are 12 PSU, 11 Wisco, 10 Oregon, 3 ohio state, 1 WVU.

Have you ever tried to have a nuanced, insightful discussion about Joe Paterno’s legacy with a Penn State fan? It’s not easy. In fact, it’s impossible. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. In 2005, Nittany Lions fans threw urine-filled water balloons at Ohio State’s marching band, prompting them to just stay in Columbus when the Buckeyes visited Happy Valley two years later. Penn State fans also used air horns outside OSU’s team hotel in 2014 to try to keep them up all night. PSU fans have also thrown snowballs at Minnesota players and generally just like to wait for opposing teams’ buses so they can do things to it. Beaver Stadium is a sight to behold on game day, if you can actually make it there in one piece.
