Had MSU beaten Oregon or OSU, that would've been the second score on the ring. Last year, the OSU score was also on the Rose Bowl ring because that was deemed the second most important victory. Last year, the win over Michigan was bigger for MSU than wins over Nebraska and Penn State. U-M fans should be flattered that MSU still considers a win over Michigan a big deal. When it's no longer a big deal, you'll know you're program is in serious trouble.

This is what makes them unbearable and what will be the death of them.  Good programs ultimately are concerned with their own success and not a rival's failure, but Sparty just can't get over us.  I guess if I knew the tide was turning I'd want to savor a rarity too.

Dear Little Brother Sparty, Congratulations on your great season. It gives us hope that if a team as generally bad as you have been historically can have a great year, then we will get over our 8 years of mediocrity and become the team we always were. Just a bit of advice from your older brother here - when you are having a great season capped off by a Cotton Bowl win (again, our congrats) you really don't need to put the score of 5 -7 rival on your ring. Even if it's against us. By most standards that would be considered arrogant - something you always hated us for. Just an FYI - It would also be considered by most people kind of classless. We do understand that you're not used to this type of success and do not really know how to act. We're just trying to help you here as we are used to it. But we thank you for always trying to measure up to us even when we're not up to our usual standards. BTW, I know you really hate it when we call you little brother, and we didn't do that very often until your football coach ran up the score last season. When you talk more about your rival than your own team you're a fan of us, Sincerely, Your (Obviously) Big Brother ps - Go Blue!

They should have the names of the referees on the ring. The officials handed them that game.

Sad. Memorializing little brotherness. Oh my little brother. You just can't help yourself. DAMN you are so codependent. Get counseling. Please. Calling Dr. Harbaugh, STAT!

Either 90% of you have severe trouble with reading comprehension or you're in so much denial you refuse to even register the reason given for the MSU-Michigan score on the ring.

I get it. Your only satisfaction at this point is your superiority complex over MSU fans. You need that to be true. Guess what? By paying so much attention to what is on an MSU ring, you come off looking like the obsessed fan base. Especially when a sensible reason was posted more than three hours before you posed. Denial much?

MSU had a great season regardless of beating us. Seems somewhat little brother-ish of them to put the final score of a win against a 5-7 team on their championship ring.

Guess I don't really see the point of it. They should be sitting there and saying they don't even need to acknowledge us anymore. But they are little brother, so there you go.

Reminds me of the t-shirt Staee put out for the 1989 Gator Bowl. It had a Gator with a MSU helmet and was chewing up Michigan players. Even though Michigan beat them 17-3 that year and won the Rose Bowl. Inferiority complex is an old thing for them.

Is the fact that Dantonio himself designed it along with a handpicked group of former players. As another poster said, MSU could win the national championship and Dantonio would still find a way to feel disrespected. What a douche. He's worse than Meyer IMO.

I don't see the issue here.

Ohio did the same thing in 2012 and used "TUN" on the ring.   At least little brother put our name on there.

Even when we are down, we have the target on our back.   Its not easy being the best of all-time.

Teams enjoy beating us, it usually doesn't happen all that often.   Oh well.

Had one side dedicated to the Michigan win including a "picture" of the big house. I took that as a compliment. I guess that is the way state sees  beating Michigan.

So this supposed to make us feel superior as fans because UM would not do such a thing?  It's petty to make fun of them over this, and its really just a way to feel superior. Their inferiority complex, in all its strange manifestations, has been working. Our superiority complex has not. That's all that matters.

that's the gist of it. Its more looking at a rival doing a silly thing and recognizing it as silly. I hope UM wouldn't do this, because its silly.

To me this is the player that goes into the endzone and whips out the sharpie to sign the ball vs. a Barry who just tosses the ball back to the ref because 'no big deal. I'll be back again.'

Now, it is college football. And I do love the nature of (reasoned) rivalry behavior even if I think this particular instance is silly.

The upside for me in this is that it wouldn't shock me at all if Dantonio, the master at milking the chip on his shoulder,  just gave Harbaugh a loaded pistol of locker room materiel.

Maybe it won't pay off this year. But with Harbaugh UM has the best chance of making it pay off in the long run.
