It was cool for the first time but should be retired now.
time to let UTL die. Still have night games, but be done with slogans or trademarks.
They have all been awesome though (the games). Look forward to more night games.
Done with it...
Done with it...
Dave brandon's gone, time to stop branding everything.
I liked it but how dumb would it look having a logo for UTL IV and UTL V when Michigan has back-to-back home night games in 2016 with Wisconsin and Penn State?

No, but if they did use UTL again I wouldn't care enough to ask if other people share the same thoughts.
Since most of our home games kickoff off at 3:30 and the lights are usually turned on at some point nearly every game could be called UTL.
UTL XXVII...3:30 pm vs Northwestern, November 8, 2020 (6th anniversary of the M 0 0 N game).
Calling the annual night game Under the Lights makes the game easy to identify (ex: "Remember UTL against Fuckston University? That was a great game")
BUT, there doesn't need to be a huge marketing campaign branding it as UTL XXII with T-shirts and snow globes and miniaturized UTL XXII action figures.
the first time.
At this point it reminds me of a cheap DB marketing ploy.
I will say that I didn't mind for the first once, since it was a special occaison. I also didn't mind it the second time because it was also Notre Dame and that series had been trending towards a night game every year anyways, however when we switched to Penn State it should've been discontinued and should be for any future night games.
Call it whatever rubs our rivals and other coaches wrong the most.
"Out in the daylight"

Nice, +1 for you! Or in the same vein call them UTS - Under the Sun, unless of course we expect clouds and could call it UTC.
Cart/horse and all that.

But we should create a commemorative patch for all the players to wear whenever we have a night game. #branding

Remember when the Chicago Cubs played their first home night game? If you're my age, you do. It was a big deal, and kind of awesome even if you don't like the Cubs.
Remember when the Chicago Cubs played their fourth home night game?
April 25th, 2015 at 12:23 AM ^
Officially Played?
If they had made shirts ahead of time, they'd have the wrong date and wrong opponent for the first official night game. And the scheduled one had such a cool date - 8-8-88.

It's best to get rid of it.
Especially if they only do it in even years. If they begin doing them every year or multiple in a year then no, but if it remains a more "special" and infrequent event, I don't see why they shouldn't sell a little swag and make it more of an event. If they stick with even-years the "Under The Lights" games could be pretty great: Wisconsin, Nebraska, Va Tech, UCLA, Texas, Oklahoma.
Think about "Under The Lights XIII: Michigan v. Texas" in 2024 and compare that to just "Texas @ Michigan."
You don't need a fancy title for people to remember whether or not it was a night game.
"Lit Up at the Big House."
Has been the only thing that I have ever agreed with Mike (F$#$%@^G) Valenti on....
He asked why everyone else in the college footall world has "Night Games"... and Michigan has to name them and turn them into a goat rodeo spectacle....
I agreed....

Well since we are undefeated in UTL games, they can call the sun a light and name all the games UTL as far as Im concerned.
Yeah, we haven't lost one yet. Keep calling it UTL until we lose one.
Here's hoping my Grandkids someday are still calling it UTL.
You just reminded me to go home and eat - thank you.
I had a plain cake with chocolate frosting this morning - delicious. None of that damn dunkin shit either.
We've done it 3 times and it was a REALLY cool idea for at least 2 of them.
So odd seeing people so passionate about this like it's been a dumb idea for years.
I agree that we can let it go...but it's not a resounding "FUCK NO!" or "NOOOOOOO!" or "HELL NAW!!" like some have said.
That just makes it sound like it was a bad idea to begin with.
