OT: Crazy things you witnessed at sporting events
This is for crazy things you have seen from FANS at sporting events.
Fights, flashings, sex, drunks fighting in the bathroom etc. I want to hear your entertaining stories about wild fan behavior at sporting events.
I just gave mine away right there. At at a Lions game in the mid-00s I saw a man and woman engaging in intercourse inside a parking garage on the hood of a car. In November.
DISCUSS
I was at the Tigers game where Steve Lyons decided to clean himself off at first base by taking his pants down for a few moments. That was the somewhat offbeat Lyons just being himself, of course, and yeah, if you've got dirt in your shirttail in baseball, it is inconvenient, but there was the problem of deciding to do that - however absent-mindedly - in from of about 25,000 people. It took him a few seconds to realize what he was doing, but by then Tiger Stadium was rolling on the floor laughing.
I also had the pleasure of being in attendance for the oh so wonderful (if you're a Wings fan) "Fight Night At The Joe". I think it was Shanahan, but that body block on Roy was and still is beautiful.

That's why my Irish setter is named Shanny.
i guess this qualifies. outside tiger stadium after the game, and many hours before the riots start, it is deliriously happy bedlam at the corner of michigan and trumball. everybody and their brother is high-fiving the world, singing, joy, so cool. well the padres bus needs to leave and they are slowly inching out of the grounds of the stadium and people are rocking the bus - not too bad, but you can see this might not turn out well.
so along comes the detroit police mounted division and form a V in front of the bus. they start to walk in unison on that wonderful cobblestone corner with the clip-clop of horseshoes going like a metronome and the bus is still gently rocking as it moves forward. and on top of the bus while it rocks, going with an EUTM, a dude is break-dancing as the scene unfolds below.
it was you on top of that bus, wasn't it?
Barry's 2,000 yard game against the Jets in 1997. By far the loudest, most insane game I have ever been too. We sat in the third row of the end zone. In the 4th quarter, the Jets had the ball and their QB Neil O'Donnell kept stopping play because his offense couldn't hear his signals. It got so bad, that the refs issued a warning to the fans. Yeah, right- try telling 80,000 drunk people to shut up. It just got louder- it went on for several minutes. I remember trying to say something to my friend next to me as loud as I could and he couldn't hear me at all. Also, sadly, this was the Reggie Brown game as well. When he was on the ground, Herman Moore and another player (can't remember who) sprinted toward the locker room to grab an IV drip and something else (I couldn't see) for him. Of all of the sporting events I've been to, this one I remember the most.
I also remember the 5-0 Michigan-Purdue game in 1995. Stayed for the whole thing and moved to the 50 yard line from the student section at halftime. I swear I still can't feel half of my face. I've missed 5 Michigan home games since 1991 and I can safely say this was the coldest I've ever been. Mostly because I was a stupid, under-prepared student at the time.
Lastly, the Osgood/Roy fight. I had an interview that morning for the company I still work for today. Pretty good day for me, all-in-all.
Thanks so much for the find!!
Last year in the Sweet Sixteen Louisville versus Kentucky there was a fight in the stands between 2 girls of different fandoom. Basically because they were both super into it and one kept getting mad at the other for standing up. Next thing I know there are 10 cops in both isles. But they resolved it.
Also the whole atmosphere for that game was insane for me the fans were yelling go cards and go blue at each other in the bathrooms an hour before the game.
midget hockey game a few years back and with 1 minute left down a goal we pulled the goalie and I heard a woman a couple rows behind me yell, what's wrong with that stupid coach he took the goalie out! Then when the opposing team scored an open netter she went into a rant about how incredibly stupid I was and how could they have somebody so incompetent coach a team at this level. I politely explained afterward to the very cute but not very knowledgeable gal that when we pull the goalie we can put another skater on the ice. She said, oh!
I was at Tiger Stadium when Morgana the Kissing Bandit ran on the field and kissed Lance Parrish. I don't remember who won, besides me.
A fight in one of the stairwells at Soldier Field this year. You always hear it before you see it. We heard a fracas and looked over at the other stairwell, which was concrete, and we see a guy push another guy headfirst down the stairs, which were packed. The second guy goes plunging down, too. It was such a long expanse of stairs, I couldn't see the bottom, so I don't know how injured they were but I would bet the first guy spent some time in a hospital.
"Friend" of mine was super drunk. Sometime durring the first quarter he decided he needed to take a piss, so he decided to piss all over the bench in front of him and incidentally the legs of the people standing in front of us. Student section.
Is your "friends" last name Maxwell?

but for the uninitiated (me), what is a 'reverse cowgirl'?
He means he saw a woman fan get down on all fours and moo like a cow, that's all.
I love the Derby
My thanks to the OP.
My wife and I were at the Big House on a very hot day many years ago. A couple rows ahead of us a woman was completely wasted, about to pass out. My wife had a tupperware container with ice in it (back when you could do that) & passed it down, thinking the ice would comfort her. You guessed it, she immediately threw up in it. The coupple then left (we did not ask for the tupperware back). Our good deed for the day.
It was Henne and Hart's freshman year....I think that was 2004. Game was in Columbus. My dad has lived in Columbus since I was 7. He claims he's always been a buckeye fan even though he grew up in Michigan. My Mom is an UM alum, I've been a huge Michigan fan ever since I can remember.
Anyways, my roommate and I drove down from CMU to go to game and hang with my dad for the weekend. After the game, we're tailgating at a pretty good sized tailgating event. There was a DJ, a bar, and mostly OSU fans. We hadn't had a problem with any of them all day.
This guy starts harrassing my friend by kicking him from behind and he does it to me once. I say something to him and my dad just tells me to play it cool since this guy is obviously a drunk asshole. My dad and I are facing my friend talking and all of a sudden this dickhead (now he's surrounded by 3 more friends) pours a beer directly on my friends head. Without skipping a beat, my dad drills this dude right in the face and I get into it with one of the other guys. I ended up getting the best of him, the original guy could barely stand, one of his friends was helping him, and the other guy runs off. During the scrum we accidently knocked over a bunch of the DJ equipment. Luckily he was a friend of my dad's so he wasn't too upset.
Afterwards we couldn't stop laughing that my dad was the first to throw a punch and it was to hit a fellow buckeye! We laugh about that story all the time and even he admits Buckeye fans are worse than Michigan fans.

One of the combatants was about 6' 5", 350 pounds. It took five security guards to escort him out of the stadium. He was struggling so much, he lost both his shoes. After he was gone and the concourse cleared, you could see his two gigantic high tops left as a reminder of the event. About five minutes later, the girlfriends got in a fight and it started all over again.

at Comerica Park by the wheelchair ramp. Turned my back to the plate (a big no-no) to help my son with something. A foul ball whizzed past my head just brushing my cap. Hits the lady next to me square in the left temple. I was looking in her direction when it happened. Saw the ball actually strike her. She went down in a heap, out cold. Thought she was dead.
Paramedics standing next to her (crazy lucky) saw the whole thing. They are right on top of her and take her limp body out on the backboard they had with them. They break out the paddles on the way up the ramp. I'm stunned, my son (10 at the time), is in total shock. We are now both sure she's dead. Three inninngs later, the paramedics come back to tell me I'm a lucky SOB the ball missed me -- and the woman came back in the ambulance! Whaaa?!

The funniest part is this guy and his wife sit directly behind us at UTL I. Small world sometimes.

in vegas. the fight where the guy tried to fly into the ring during the fight and got the snot beat out of him in the process. i had been given tickets and was in attendance - the single best fight i have ever seen, in person or on TV. had forgotten about that one which happend in november of '93.
Craziest thing I've seen....this one time, at a football game, the fans in the stands would repeatedly pull out their car keys and wave them frantically in the air in an attempt to pump up the home team and intimidate the visitors. Crazy, crazy.
Second craziest thing I've seen was a guy parachute into Shea Stadium during the '86 World Series. Come to find out the next day the guy was my friends dad. My first experience ever witnessing "paparrazi" as newspaper reporters were swarming outside our classroom trying to talk to my buddy.
1) I walked in the bathroom to a Steelers fan passed out cold. Someone had found him and drug him near the urinals. People were actually urinating on him and no one, NOT ONE PERSON, said a word
2) I witnessed a Ravens fan getting in a fight with a few Dawg Pound members and a fan in the deck above threw a goddamn portable TV over the railing to try to hit them. It missed and shattered in a billion pieces but, my God.

There are some great stories here . . . but reading them reminds me why it's probably good that Michigan Stadium remain a dry venue. Some of these people, man.
