Horse racing for me is right up there with UM football. Great to see Orb win this year, great owner/trainer/jockey, and loved that he was #16. Fitting to see that number first to the finish line one more time. Had Orb Across the board but missed on my exacta..didn't pull the trigger on Golden Soul even though he was a logical choice at a huge price. If you like the Derby I highly recommend going to the Travers Stakes in Saratoga Springs, New York. Saratoga is great you have free parking, admission is cheap, you can bring in food and booze (no glass bottles). If you make it a road trip you have Cooperstown and the Boxing Hall of Fame on the way. |

In 8th grade football practice we were doing some special teams drill, kickoff or punt return (don't remember). Anyhow, I had already picked up my block so my guy was out of the play. Looking for someone else to hit I noticed someone who was running free and they did not see me at all. For whatever reason the idea of blindsiding this kid, my teammate, just gave me what can best be described as a shot of adrenaline. Well it was a clean hit as far as rules go (at the time, maybe some defenseless player rule now) but I ended up breaking this kids femur. Not sure how the injury happened, as it was a shoulder/head level hit. Right away he was screaming and I immediately felt terrible. Some guys tried to give me high fives and helmet slaps or whatever but I was just in a daze. I really had to reflect as to what made me take advantage of that situation. I know you can never half ass it on the football field during live play but I feel I went above full go on that particular play, again I don't know why. Regardless, it still bothers me 20 years later. |

The etymology of the word jet is old. More importantly when I typed jet planes etymolgy into google the first hit was for the etymology of blow job. Evidently, in the 1950s pilots referred to their jet planes as blow jobs.

You have to consider if what you potentially gain at QB with Gardner make up for what you lose at wr. Personally, I think you are better off with Bellomy as your starting QB. Gardner has NFL potential at wr, which I have not seen from his QB game. I think it would be a disservice to Gardner to move him back to QB. |

As a Cards fan I want to see them play the Tigers in the WS again.One of my best friends is a huge Tigers fan. Before you neg me let me say that I would be happy for my friend if the Tigers win the WS. Great game last night and go Tigers! Beat the yankees. |

I am a Cards fan* but all my friends are Tigers fans. I would love to see them both in the series again. *I'm not huge into baseball. So if the Tigers would have beat the Cards the last time they played I would have been happy for my friends. Same goes this time around.

Someone (Brian?) had some data last year showing under center vs. shotgun and suggested shotgun was more effective. However, I do agree with you that it is hard to blame Borges for Denards turnovers. Denard doesn't live by the rule of "live to play another down," which is part of his brilliance but also results in super risky passes. I do think the Smith pass play was a stupid playcall given that there was no reason to call it at that point in the game. |
