| 2 days 15 hours ago | The Belmont |
The Belmont is the longest of the three races at 1 and 1/2 miles. The Derby is 1 and a qurter and the Preakness is 1 and 3/16. There are several factors that make the Belmont tough to win: 1st- Distance: This will be the first and last time any (ok most) of these horses run this far again. Even if they do well they will be pointed to the more lucrative "classic" distance races, which are a mile and a quarter. 2nd- No Rest: Major stakes horses usually have their races 4-5 weeks apart, while the triple crown is 3 races in 5 weeks. Furthermore, there are always a few Derby notables who will skip the Preakness to rest up for the Belmont plus the addition of a couple outsiders who are also well rested. For example win or lose I'll Have Another is getting a long break. His next race will probably be the Travers stakes, which is late August. This would be followed by one more race to prep him for the Breeders Cup Classic in November. 3rd- No fear: In the past owners and trainers would avoid good/great horses. For example Secretariat's Belmont featured 5 horses total. Now every owner wants to take a shot at winning a triple crown race. Besides having to beat more horses the increased field size also decreases the chance of getting a clean break from the post.
Just as a note only 22 horses have won the Derby and Preakness so it is not that common of a feat. |
| 24 weeks 1 day ago | Loss inflation |
That was an unusual year with LSU winning the MNC with 2 losses. Hawaii was the only team to finish with 1 loss that year. Ohio was the only 1 loss BCS team at the end of the regular season. |
| 25 weeks 14 hours ago | Never been to Rose Bowl |
Arizona is the only pre-expansion B10/Pac10 team to not play in a Rose Bowl. They were close in 1998 with a record of 12-1 and finished 4th in the country. However, they lost to UCLA who went 8-0 in conference play that year. They did tie for first place in the pac10 in 1993 along with ucla and usc. Again UCLA beat both Arizona and USC getting the tie breaker. ASU is not much better but they do have 2 Rose bowl appearances including a win against Michigan that turned into the gift of Cooper going to tOSU. |

I hear that Lions jerseys are selling like hotcakes in Ohio. Never in a million years I would have thought that. |
| 35 weeks 4 days ago | We are not |
We are not a top 25 team yet. Next week is going to be tough. Hillman is a beast so I am not feeling good about that game right now. If we beat SDSU then yeah top 25. |
| 1 year 1 week ago | Even thoroughbreds |
Even thoroughbreds lost their nicknames, not that they need them.
-Secretariat aka "Big Red" -Spectacular Bid aka "The Bid" maybe not really a nickname -Seattle Slew aka "Baby Huey" -Real Quiet aka "The Fish"

I disagree, if the accusations being raised about him and the program are true then how can you say is he a good coach, person, christian, etc.? I am sure he has done great things in the community and I personally respect him for supporting gays in sports. However, part of being good at a any job involves "doing it the right way" and not cheating or looking the other way to get and/or stay ahead. |

Roundtree did not get onto the field until after Odom's was injured. |

So there is still hope for an ED-209 statue? |

Go to the Detroit Jazz festival every year. Also have been to the last few winter blasts. Saw the Heidelberg project this year. Detroit is not perfect but I make several trips up there every year and always have a good time. |
