Things I have heard the last 30-40 years

"The NBA is dying"

"California is dying" - We just had a hurricane and earthquake yesterday so stay tuned

"CFB is dying"

Ill need to start investing in these dying things when I hear that word. 

Geez, the last thing I need on a Monday in August is existential angst.

I'm so far down the path to death that I qualified for Medicare this year.  I think that might be a mile post along the road.

No one here gets out alive.

But you are just one day closer to your next adventure.

I mean you could come back as a Koala. 

I'm inclined to believe you. Word on the street is that nobody gets out alive. 

I went to the planetarium at the Franklin Institute in Philly with my kids.   They talked about how Mercury (Venus?) had no magnetic fields so the solar winds ravaged the planet and nothing can really live their.   Earth has magnetic fields that protect us from the solar winds and so life flourishes.  Mars used to have magnetic fields, and there may have been life, or at least water there, but the lava core cooled and the magetic fields went away and the planet is now desolate.  I don't think we have to worry about the earth's core cooling in the foreseeable future, but it is a poignant reminder of the ephemeral nature of life.  We'll have life on our planet for billions of years, but in the span of forever it isn't eally that long. 

It is a miracle that we exist at all.  Every minute is a miracle.
