Stopped Washington's high-powered offense 11 times in a row, deep into the fourth quarter. Just laid WASTE to that heralded, Joe Moore-winning offensive line with four rushers!!!! Penix is a class act, but he knew he was in trouble from the start--you saw it in the poor man's eyes. I feel awfully sorry for his ribs.

Yeah, it was getting sad toward the end. I was getting some Brady Hoke/Shane Morris Vibes.

Not the same situation, of course-- rib fractures aren't concussions, The Washington staff was checking with him after each play, and he was actually competing for something. Still, it was becoming painful to see.

That offense was tough to defend. That was way harder than the 13 points implied. Felt like every drive was a stressor with all of UWs motions and how quick and accurate Penix got the ball out. That is the best performance by the Michigan defense since...? You could go back a long time

I never imagined this.    NEVER.    It was the greatest day of my life.    Its all I ever wanted my entire life in terms of sports.    It can't get any better.   TEAM 144

Feels unreal still.  This team had so many likeable and stand up dudes.

Everyone played their part but good lord watching this defense grow from game to game has been an absolute pleasure

The offense continued to find a way even when all seemed hopeless

Team 144 is now etched in legend as champions

It surely was a team effort. The Michigan-D proves why they are Number 1.

CFP, beats 'Bama and Nick Saban then shuts down an explosive Washington offense in Houston for the National Title.

We can really say that this has been a dream come true.

Thank You Michigan Football program and congrats on a truely great achievement.

Sabb. Wallace. Sainristil. Johnson. Legends. They shut down Penix and UW's deep attack. Penix is a hell of a player and teammate. I wish him tons of success in the NFL. Michigan just had his number tonight.

Michigan's pass defense wasn't going to be able to keep up.  No chance, hadn't seen anything like UW's offense all year.  OSU was a shell of it's normal self.  So much speed and talent going deep.  More sophisticated routes than B1G defenses could ever hope to defend.  Would have to blitz to get pressure.  Would have to bring up the safeties to stop the run.

Michigan has been playing this defense for 3 years.  And this defense was designed to stop this offense.  It worked previously.  It worked again tonight.  And the only people surprised are the haters that tried hard to stop them off the field.

The secondary is incredible because of these players, but huge shoutout to Coach Clink for coming in here from Kentucky and turning around what was THE biggest weakness in this program. And I'll add Jesse Minter being a DB guy just augmented the coaching and took them to a championship level. HUZZAH!!!

Balled out. Credit to Sabb who laid some hard hits when it mattered. The Johnson and Sanristil interceptions instantly go down in Michigan lore.

They were fantastic! Had a debate with my son as to whether this defense is the best I’ve ever seen at Michigan. It might be overall but ‘97 May still be it. Nowhere ne’er the depth… but that team rally intimidated … I’ve never seen a team line up with everyone inside 10 yards on every play and get it done like that. ‘97 also had a guy who could take half the field. Johnson is super however. Beautiful night! Go Blue!
