Super Bowl Predictions + Guess the Score + Activities

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on February 11th, 2024 at 1:16 PM

Mates,

It is Super Bowl Sunday, with kick off ~ 5 1/2 hrs away.  Last game of the season.  The line on the game hasn't changed much, starting at SF favored by 2.5, going down as low as 1 pt favorites very quickly, and last I looked it was at 1.5.   Total points was at 51 two weeks ago, but has gone down to 47.5.

Anyway, time for predictions to amaze your friends and impress all around you:

1.  Who wins?

2.  Score?

3.  Are you doing anything for the game, party, cook-out, etc.?

Have a great day and for those who will watch, enjoy.

San Francisco fan so just want them to win. I think it should be a good game regardless of who you favor.

We watch the SB as a family event every year. This year we ordered some pastrami from Katz’s deli and the brother in-law is bringing some bread from Zingerman’s. Obviously, there will be some other food but that’s the main course.

I'm going chiefs, 27-24. We always host my wife's fam for SB, but wife and kiddos not feeling well, so looks like just us this year. Probably just order wings since we normally do a potluck.

I'm hoping for a 49'er's win. As for festivities, we have people over every year and this year, I made way too much food: shrimp creole, Mississippi Roast sliders with pepperoncini, Italian broccoli salad, and for dessert, a friend in Detroit sent me two Sanders Bumpy Cakes, which is a Detroit specialty.

The Mississippi Roast was one of those things I found on the internet and was very skeptical because it uses a packet of Ranch dressing seasoning and a packet of Au Jus seasoning, a stick of butter, and pepperoncini. How could this not be awful? Well, it's really good and if you like pot roast, I highly recommend it.

Chiefs 24 49ers 19. San Fran goes for 2 late to get it within 3 and the try fails.

McCaffery anytime TD scorer

Debo goes for 5 plus rushes for over 40 yards.

Not watching - don't care about NFL enough to watch a game that doesn't involve/impact the Lions.  Out for a date with the wife this afternoon/evening.

Chiefs 27-17. I'm making a roast in the crockpot with potatoes, celery, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and shallots. Just Mrs. Attack, the dogs, and I.

Watching the WM Phoenix Open til the game starts.

Rooting for Mahomes wearing a "KelceHowMuchYouCanSaveOnHomeAndAutoInsurance" jersey. Blasting my Taylor Swift playlist on repeat throughout. Will put on closed captioning so I make sure I don't miss anything Romo has to say.

Somebody, not you Henson, got triggered (now I know the real definition of that word, thanks to that same thread) last week when I mentioned that I didn’t know any Taylor Swift songs. I asked the other night at the dinner table of all the kids if they knew any songs by her and the answer was “no “. Then one of them thought they might know one come, but they weren’t sure.

Why in hell would anybody give a shit if somebody else hasn’t heard any Taylor Swift?

I’ve never heard a single second of her music and have no interest in doing so.

That won’t keep me from rooting slightly for KC, but I think SF has the lucky horseshoe up its ass this year so Niners 26, Chiefs 24

Watching game with my 98-yr old FIL. Wife doesn’t give a shit about sports so she’ll probably watch the Puppy Bowl. Cooking some tenderloin tips for dinner, baked potatoes, and fresh spinach. Nothing fancy.

It's like you can see right into my nightmares, Henson!

Niners in a classic:

Mahomes leads a late rally to pull the Chiefs into a 23-23 tie, but Ronnie Bell - forced into duty by injury - rips off a long return to give the Niners good field position. A couple of McCaffrey runs & a quick out to Deebo stops the clock to get the Niners into range for a long FG attempt. Steely-eyed Michigan Man Jake Moody comes on to nail a 49-yarder as time expires - his 4th of the game. He is named SB MVP & flashes the 〽️ as he accepts his award!

Go Blue, Go Niners!

1/ 2. Chiefs 28 - 49ers 23.

Money Moody with 3 FGs. 49ers with the ball late, but can't get it in the end zone.

3. Friends are coming over, we are eating Pulled pork, loaded potato skins, and 7 layer dip. We will be having a few drinks as well.

Rooting for the 49ers because they have more 〽️🏈 players!

I haven't been all that enthusiastic about the game, but I was surprised to see KC as an underdog.  I'm not sure if that's due to injuries for KC or because bettors really believe that SF has an edge.

I decided to put my money where my mouth is, opened an account online, and placed my first sports bets:

  • $5 on KC getting 2 1/2 points  (winning about $4.35 after the vig plus $200 in play money that I have to use within a week)
  • $5 on SF giving 2 1/2 points (winning $4.76 after the vig)

So I'm risking 24 cents for a chance to play with $200.

I assume that if I bet on 10 events randomly at $20/each (NBA point spreads?  NBA over/under?), I'll win between 3 and 7 of those bets and walk away with somewhere between $100 and $300.

In my heart of hearts (even though my approach to betting the game suggests I don't have one) I want both teams to lose.  But Moody with a last second field goal to beat Kansas City -- by 1 or 2 points -- wouldn't be a bad outcome.

1.  Who wins?

Chiefs (hard to pick against them these days).

2.  Score?

24-14

3.  Are you doing anything for the game, party, cook-out, etc.?

I'm going to air fry some chicken nuggets and fries for my kids and make some buffalo dip for my wife (my dip is the bomb) but otherwise no.  We would have liked to host, but our eldest had the flu this week and we aren't willing to endanger anyone else just to have some people over.

My prediction:

JFK Jr. and Elvis are going to make a triumphant return during the halftime show, descending from heaven and landing majestically on the 50 yard line. I have it on good authority this will happen!

Meanwhile, there are better odds (1:100,000) that an alien invasion will end the game in a tie than a score of two safeties and a field goal (1:500,000). What does Vegas know that they aren’t telling us? Wake up, sheeple!
