Great post! Good info, thanks for putting this together!
Ideal line up for Michigan next year-
1- Boyd ( FAU)/ Anderson
2- Davis ( FAU)/ Brooks
3- Burnett / transfer
4- Rooths / Tschetter
5- Goldin ( FAU)/ Transfer
3 best players from FAU
-Davis, Boyd, Goldin
2 Michigan players ( both leaders)
- Burnett, Tschetter
3 Michigan recruits ( re recruit Rooths)
- Rooths, Anderson, Brooks
2 Transfer players
A nice balance of players used to the system, players familiar with Michigan, the school, and facilities. With fresh new faces in 3 high level, high character freshman and 2 transfers.
I would like to see a new coaching staff, but I'd also like to see the core of this roster stay next year. A roster loaded with JRs and SRs would be a nice way to start off for a new coach.
1- Dug / GW3
2- Transfer/ Burnett
3- Burnett / Rooths
4- Transfer/ Tschetter
5- Reed / Transfer
If Michigan can find a 2 ( Love or Shannon type,) that would be there best player, and a 3 and D guy at the 4 they could make a run at the tournament next year, and have Dug, Rooths, Reed, and GW3 ready to step up in 2025/2026.
I'm not totally against Howard getting one more year. If the program has a better culture and the team has a better chemistry than it did a year ago, you could argue things are headed in the right direction, but with less talent this year.
Also, if the program really believes in Dug and Reed than let Howard lead them in their upperclassmen year. A lineup of
Doubt he plays this season considering he's being added so late.
1- Dug/ Llewellyn. 34/6
2- Burnett / Llewellyn 30/10
3- Twill / Yoyo 20/20
4- Nkamhoua / Jackson 20/20
5- Reed / Nkamhoua 28/12
There are a lot of potential X factors on this roster. One, how healthy is Llewellyn going to be? Two, can Yoyo take over at the 3 and give Michigan more upside there? Three, can Nkamhoua be an elite #1 option. Four, will Dug and Reed take big sophomore leaps?
8, 4* players ( 9 counting GW III)
3, top 50 players
Lots of athleticism and very good defenders. If Dug and Nkamhoua can be an elite pick n roll combo , and one guard ( hopefully Burnett,) steps up as a good scorer and 35%+ FT shooter this team could be very good.
This hire is... Fine?? I hope he can recruit really well. I would have like to see -
Partridge to DB
Jay to TE
Newsome to OL ( with Moore's help)
Moore to OC
Harbaugh to QB
But Harbaugh's track record is really good when it comes to hiring new coaches, so I'll trust him and hope that hiring an analyst for the most important position on the #2 team in the country the past 2 season's is the correct move.
So sorry to hear about your dad. I just lost my grandpa, who had Alzheimer's. This is so great for father/ son time! Thank you for doing this. Here is me and my dad, and me and my boys, Dezmond and Braylon at a game. We try to go to 1-2 per year. Go BLUE!
A few things stand out compared to this season, one, no freshman starter, two more athleticism, three more shooting. I personally like the makeup of this roster better, and I'm excited for the future. Go BLUE
I love watching this team. Sometimes I think they get too cute w the puck, but overall this is probably my favorite Michigan hockey team of all time. Finish it boys!! Let's GOOOOOO BLUE 〽️🏒. We want mooooore goals
I still really like Michigan's defense up the middle, which is where it all starts. Smith, Jeter, Colson, NHG, Moore, Moten. With some good athletic depth behind those guys like Jenkins, Morris, Barrett, and Paige.
Look for a guy like Will Johnson to come in and potentially make an impact at nickel as well. He played safety his Sr. Year, and can play anywhere in the secondary. I think Colson will be an impact guy as well, and a guy they can move all over the place for blitzes.
1. With Corum coming back into the game after his long run, he should be good for 6-8 carries or more on Saturday.
2. Cade. I think JJ is even more involved in 2022, maybe twice as many snaps. I think in 2023 JJ takes over. Cade will graduate and can either go pro or transfer at that point.
3.
1. Woodson
2. Hart,
3. Braylon,
4. Denard,
5. Hutch,
6. Desmond
7. Wheatley.
My boys names are Desmond and Braylon.
4.
1- Brooks / Collins 30/10
2- Bufkin / Zeb 20/20 until someone wins.
3- Houstan / Williams 34/6
4- Diabate / Williams 34/6
5- Dickinson / Johns 34/6
5. Equal, but BT title if I had to choose. That likely will never happen wo a win over Osu though, so it's hand in hand
Harbaugh and Michigan are about to go on their best 4 year run of QB and RB since he's been there, and offensive line won't be far behind. They have great energy, and culture as a staff, and will only get better on defense with a super young coordinator.
JJ, Edwards, AA, Will Johnson and others are at Michigan because of Harbaugh, Clink, Mac, and Hart. Now is not the time to start over. Without injuries Harbaugh and Michigan are almost a near lock to get 10 wins per year the next 4 years. With some good luck, and some playmakers stepping up, there is a solid chance for a BT championship or 2.
Offense runs through Dickinson, with 4 shooters around him! Experience isn't necessary at the 2/3 so put your McDonald's All American's there.
Tim McCormick said he see's Zeb as a 2/3 and I tend to agree, I think Bufkin is more of a natural 2 with some combo in him, than Zeb. I see Zeb as more of a Hardaway type.
T-Will will get more minutes when Dickinson gets into foul trouble, more Diabate at the 5 and T- Will at the 4 when that happens.
Other than having a Trey Burke at PG, this is pretty close to the perfect line up, and roster.
1- A Sr, glue guy who can move the ball and make the offense gel. His back up? An Uber athletic top 50 recruit.
2- Mcdonald's All American. Can shoot, drive, and pass. Might have been a 5* with a Sr season. Zeb will fill in some time here as a shooter.
3- Best recruit in over 25 years at Michigan. Glen Rice?? We can hope haha.
I like your optimism and breakdown! So in a depth chart form it should look something like this?
DE- 275 lbs
1. Hutchinson
2. Newberg / Mcgregor
NT- 315 lbs
1. Jeter / Smith
3. Transfer
DT- 290+ lbs
1. Hinton
2. Welschof
3. Morris
Rush LB-
1. Upshaw
2. Ojabo
3. Harrell
MLB-
1. Ross
2. Hill-Green
3. Hood / Wheeler
ILB-
1. Barrett
2. Mullings
3. Mohan
OLB-
1. BVS or
2. Colson
Nickel-
1. Paige
2. Faustin
3. Johnson
FS-
1. Hill
2. Paige
SS-
1. Hawkins
2. Morant
CB1-
1. Green
2. Seldon
CB2-
1. Grey
2. Green- Warren
2 Deep-
5* - 2
4*- 17
Starting experience-
2+ years- 4
1 year- 7
Never started- Upshaw? BVS?
Weakest spots-
1. CB2
2. OLB
This defense has size, speed and experience. The key for me is Hinton, Hill and 1 LBer stepping up and becoming a first team all BT type of player. Could be Ross, Barrett, or Mullings. This could or should be a top 3-4 defense in the BT!!
If Michigan moves Dax to CB, and Hinton, and Smith make a nice jump, I think this defense can be very very good. There will be a lot of competition at OLB and CB 2 with mostly 4*s.
I don't see a weak spot if those 3 things happen.
Offense-
It's time for a QB to step up and separate themselves. With Harbaugh coaching there now, hopefully that happens, and if it does the rest of the offense will fall in place.
I see this offense very similar to the 2015 / 2016 offense
I'm just saying, the numbers are there, the recruiting stars are there, and the size is there. Now we just need a coach that can get them to their potential
Wisconsin did it last year, they lost 4 and came back just as good. You have to think about who the replacements are at OL and remember that Ed Warinner is one of the best OL coaches. Replacements-
LT- Ryan Hayes 4*, top 150, 6'7, athletic, a few starts and 1 game ball.
LG- Filiaga 4*, top 150, AA, Sr, 3 years with Warinner
C- Carpenter, beat Clemson and Oklahoma for him, scout team player of the year.
RG- Stueber 4* tied for a starting spot last year before acl. Sr. , 3rd year with Warinner
And if the Sr. Guards dont work out,you have 2 4*, top 150 rs FR ready to step in.
So you have everything you need to have a great OL. Top level recruits, size, experience, competition and the best OL coach.
This is how college sports work, you get guys for 4 years, they move on, and sometimes the next guy coming in is better. When you get guys like Hinton and Smith, a 5* and a top 100 recruit at a Beast position like DT, they aren't going to come in and dominate. Look at Gary, Hutch, Graham, and many other, and then look at their Sophomore leap.
So. Hinton > 280 lb Dwumfour
Dax Hill > Metellus etc.
IMO all 8 spots in the 2 deep at DL will be better, especially DT and SDE. Hinton and Hutch are about to blow up
Thanks ! Anyone who calls someone an idiot for taking time to put some good info and their opinion out there should have their opinion ignored. #lazytake #bebetter
2. WR- top 3 core in the BT with 2 potential breakout stars in Collins and Jackson
3. QB - 3, 4* guys competing all 3 were top 10 QBs in their class
4. OT / TE- lots of experience and NFL talent here
Questions-
1. Interior OL- 2 Sr's competing with the RS Fr, Rumler and Carpenter are ready to go according to insiders. 4 good guys for 3 spots, plus Barnhart??? Not bad
Defense-
Rush end-
1. Paye
2. Vilain or Ojabo
DT-
1. Hinton
2. Jeter or Welschof ( already 280 lb) or Morris
NOTE- Michigan needs Michael Williams here
NT-
1. Kemp
2. Smith
SDE-
1. Hutchinson
2. Upshaw or McGregor
Viper / SLB-
1. Barrett
2. Solomon or Morant
MLB-
1. McGrone
2. Thomas
WLB-
1. Ross
2. Mullings
CB1-
1. Thomas
2. Turner II
CB2-
1. Grey vs Turner II
2. Green
FS-
1. Hill
2. Faustin or Moten
SS-
1. Hawkins
2. Johnson
Nickel-
1. Dax Hill ( if a #3 safety is ready ) or
1. Seldon ( if opposing offense has a small slot receiver)
Strengths-
DE- 2 all BT type guys with good depth
LB- a star in McGrone a good returning starter in Ross and lots of good options at Viper.
S- Dax and a returning Hawkins could be as good or better than Harbaugh has had at Michigan ( Hill and Thomas 2016)
Questions-
1. DT- I like the starters alot, I think Hinton is on track for a So. breakout similar to Hutchinson, but the depth is thin, Michigan needs a grad transfer like Williams from Stanford, and Smith needs to step up and be ready.
2. CB- Thomas is a great #1, but a couple of 3*s battling for #2 makes me a little worried. Both guys ( Grey and Turner ) have great size but we're 3*s bc of their speed.
K- Nordin
P- Hart
KR- Jackson
PR- Jackson
Overall-
I love this team I think QB, RB, WR, TE and OT are all upgrades offensively from last year. DPJ is a big loss, but I really like the WR core, and I think they will have more defined roles, which will help overall.
OG will be good with 2 veterans ( Stueber and Filiaga,) battling the young 4*s, Rumler and Barnhart, the biggest question will be C.
Gattis in year 2 is going to be fire, having guys like Jackson, Sainristil, Evans, and Henning will make up for an inexperienced OL. Gattis wanted McCaffrey over Patterson last year, he'll get his wish this year, along with the upside of Milton competing.
Defensively, Michigan has potential stars, BT first team type of players in Hutchinson, Paye, McGrone, Thomas, and Hill. That's enough top end talent to be elite.
If Hinton can make a So leap similar to Hutch did, and Michigan can find some depth at DT ( Williams, ) I think Michigan can have a 2016 type defense. It's so close and so similar to that team.
Defensive upgrades from last year are, DE, DT, LB, and Safety. Only CB is headed in the other direction.
2016 vs 2020
Charleton vs Paye -1
Wormley vs Hutchinson +1
Godin vs Hinton
Glasgow vs Kemp -1
Peppers vs Barrett -2
Gedeon vs McGrone +1
McCray vs Ross +1
Lewis vs Thomas
Stribling vs Grey -1
Hill vs Hill
Thomas vs Hawkins
Total- 2016 wins by 2, only real difference is Peppers ( and having Hurst coming off the bench.) Can a guy like McGrone or Hutch or Dax make up that difference??
Offensively, the biggest difference from 2016------> 2019 is Gattis, McCaffrey, Charbonett and Collins.
osu is osu, and Michigan will most likely lose a road game ( Washington or Minnesota,) but I don't see anything worse than 10-2, I also think 11-1 is more likely than 9-3. Go BLUE!

A few thoughts-
1. Great job with the depth chart
2. This is the best offense that Harbaugh has put together.
3.Getting Jeter back would be huge!! Michigan needs a little more experienced size inside on the DL.
4. If Dax comes back, this secondary is legit! If not slide Moore to nickel, and Paige to safety, or W. Johnson to nickel and leave Moore at S.

Hinton and Hutch are about to blow up
Michigan is lacking 5*s, but guys who were either top 250 recruits OR playing like it-
QB- 3
RB- 4
WR- 6
TE- 1
OL- 8+
Offense- 22 that's a 2 deep
DE- 5
DT- 3
LB- 6
CB- 3
S- 5
Defense- 22, another 2 deep
I have Brooks at 35 min
1- 2021 recruit / Zeb. 30/10
2- Zeb / Bajema. 25/15
3- Williams / Bajema. 25/15
4- Johns / Williams. 32/8
5- Dickinson / 2021 recruit 30/10
Obviously the 2021 recruiting class is going to be huge, especially at PG and C.
Remember Michigan has 3, 3* walk ons as well, and Nunez
2-…
1- DDJ / Brooks
2- Christopher / Jackson / Bajema/ Nunez
3- Wagner / Williams / Howard
4- Livers / Johns / Todd
5- Dickinson / Davis / Castleton
That's 15 with Christopher.
My guess is that 1 of Nunez / Bajema transfers and 1 of Davis Castleton transfers. Then you are back down to 13.
My best guess depth chart with Christopher
1- DDJ / Brooks 25/15
2- Christopher / Livers 25/15
3- Livers / Wagner 15/25
4- Johns / Todd 15/25
5- Dickinson / Davis / Johns 15/15/10
Overall minutes-
1. Livers 30
2. Wagner 25
2. DDJ 25
2. Johns 25
2. Todd 25
2. Christopher 25
7. Brooks 15
7. Davis 15
7. Dickinson 15
9 man rotation with-
2- 5*s
5- 4*s (4 upperclassmen) ( counting Wagner bc he played pro, and started all season as a Fr.)
2- 3*s ( both Srs)
1- DDJ / Brooks 25/15
2- Christopher / Livers 30/10
3- Livers / Wagner. 20/20
4- Todd / Johns. 20/20
5- Dickinson/Castleton 20/20
* Maybe do some small ball with Johns at the 5, and get Todd more minutes and Castleton less
2-…
1- Simpson / DDJ 32/8
2- Brooks / DDJ. 30/10
3- Wagner / Livers 28/12
4- Livers / Johns. 20/20
5- Teske / Davis 30/10
Total minutes-
1- Livers 32
1. Simpson 32
3. Teske. 30
3. Brooks. 30
5. Wagner. 28
6. Johns. 20
7. DDJ. 18
8. Davis 10
Thanks ! Anyone who calls someone an idiot for taking time to put some good info and their opinion out there should have their opinion ignored. #lazytake #bebetter
2 deep, a cleaner look, with less names-
Offense-
QB-
1. McCaffrey
2. Milton
RB-
1. Charbonett
2. Haskins
3. Evans
WR1-
1. Collins
2. Johnson
WR2-
1. Bell
2. Henning
Slot-
1. Jackson
2. Sainristil
TE-
1. Eubanks
2. All / Schoonmaker
LT-
1. Hayes
2. Keegan
LG-
1. Filiaga
2. Barnhart
C-
1. Carpenter
2. Vastardis or Rumler
RG-
1. Stueber
2. Rumler
RT-
1. Mayfield
2. Stueber or Jones
Strengths-
1. RB - 3 returning starters
Go BLUE!
DT-…
Rush- Paye / Vilain
DT- Hinton / Jeter
NT- Kemp / Smith
SDE- Hutchinson / Upshaw or McGregor
Other ends- Ojabo / Newburg
Other DT- Speight / Morris / Welschof
