New Day Muppets
I was waiting for the press conference, but if Angelique is reporting it, it's done.
This may be grave-dancing, but I've never had a problem with that. People should be evaluated honestly.
And you could have one without the other but by tradition there is a second video…
Go to the Indiana game, guys, and cheer hard.

It was time for him to go.
I'm sorry though, I really think the grave dancing is over the top. He was an ass so we should act like asses? He's gone, lets move on.
I'm glad we've made a change. Now I'm nervous though. We have to hope that the U won't f*ck this process up. We havea tight timetable and not alot of recent success to rely on for hope.
I wonder if the interim guy will fire Brady, allowing the next guy to come in with clean hands.

He did everything he could to make Michigan elite, in his mind. Continuing to build athletic palaces, charging exorbitant fees to get the "Michigan experience", etc. I'm sure he saw himself, and his department, as above the people -- the hoi polloi are to be manipulated, not listened to. He fed the separation of athletic life from campus life.
I'm not so naive to think that athletes aren't special and don't deserve special treatment. But Brandon basically divorced his department from the overall mission of the university. Athletics are PART of campus life; Brandon wanted athletics to be its own fiefdom where he was lord. Goodbye, DAB.

force this move and put Brandon's ouster front and center, we should also realize that the president has clearly understood the political realities of the situation in handling recent events, and doing it with the kind of professional aplomb you would expect from a man in his position.
I also think that once again, Mr. Bacon has also been a clairvoyant analyst in reviewing recent events and providing a roadmap for how things would likely turn out. They have, just as he predicted a week ago.

Now we can move on and get our Michigan back.

I was visiting MGoBlog from work for my daily fix, and once it started taking forever to load, I knew that something big was happening.
Quick check on ESPN, and boom, confirmed.

Glad to see DB go... he clearly never understood what his priorities were, and what fans and alumni wanted. That being said, I think it is important to remember that DB deeply loves and cares about our alma mater. He accredited much of his success in life to his time at Michigan, and was a successful businessman we could be proud of. Sure, he wasn't a great AD and we are almost unanimous in wanting a change there, but let's not villainize him as an enemy. He's a guy who gave a lot of blood sweat and tears into giving back to Michigan... he just went about it all wrong.

He would've cut a much more sympathetic figure if he wasn't such a condescending dick. It's one thing to suck at your job; quite another to suck at your job while acting like you're smarter and cooler than everyone else.

According to JUB, since taking over he fired over 160 employees in the athletic department. Karma's a bitch!

It's finally official, but it's really interesting that Schlissel is spending so much time "recognizing" and thanking "Dave".

Any chance at a transcript of the presser for those of us who didn't see it live? I'd like to read it everyday for some time to come.

... I'm very happy he is gone. I think it sucks that this is muppet worthy, but understand why Brian feels vindicated in his feelings and proud of his part in this.
That being said, I don't like dancing on graves. Honest evaluation and being smug in "victory" are not the same thing. Good bye and good riddance, but nothing more from me.
Onward.

Huh, I guess this email thing isn't just going to blow over in a couple days.

Also, I'm registering a complaint with Brian about how slow this site has been today. Enough with the "investigative journalism" nonsense, already, much less frivolous singing puppets. Let's talk football -- what could be more important than that, after all?

No qualms about dancing over the grave of any MBA. They have a history of building castles on ours.

To those saying "he's a good man, this isn't something to get excited over" I say BS. A good man doesn't treat people the way DB does. They don't speak in condescending tones, they don't treat other people like their idiots or ridicule anyone who has the audacity to question them. DB certainly isn't a good man on my books.
Now when and if Brady Hoke is fired I'll agree that wouldn't be appropriate. He seems like a good man who was just out of his league, but still a genuinely nice person.

I was looking for a Muppets version of the Smith's "I know it's over" but all I could find was this (which, while perfect for this blog, is not really fitting for today's news):
