George Campbell commits to FSU

I suppose the ship had sailed a while ago. Best of luck to the kid.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:26 PM ^
That ship sailed a long time ago for us. Good luck to that man.
September 5th, 2014 at 1:26 PM ^
The same way we keep the Hoke "well" count after each conference, we should start a "good luck to the young man" count on each thread a prospect turns us down.

September 5th, 2014 at 3:37 PM ^
Does anyone know if that ship has sailed or not?
September 5th, 2014 at 12:28 PM ^
At least we won't see him in 2017 at the Cowboys Classic against Florida.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:32 PM ^
I would want to see him. Senior Jabrill Peppers shut him down the entire game as we demolish them.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:34 PM ^
I have a feeling we won't be getting a senior year out of Peppers.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:40 PM ^
September 5th, 2014 at 12:49 PM ^
And earn that 8-0 record vs Sparty and OSU, too.
September 5th, 2014 at 1:37 PM ^
Please be a little realistic, you mean forth Heisman award.
September 5th, 2014 at 4:09 PM ^
You mean fifth Heisman award. The New York Athletic Club will give him one as a lifetime achievement award.

That kid's gonna make a hell of a DB some day.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:36 PM ^
Are you gonna change your avatar after the game tomorrow night?
September 5th, 2014 at 12:50 PM ^
I don't know. It took me 3 years to even make an avatar in the first place. I'm pretty complacent. But maybe I'll find someone else who could use the comeuppance. Dantonio would be a prime target. Who knows...
September 5th, 2014 at 1:25 PM ^
we can have legends avatars.
Lest we forget.

What is her 40 time?

September 5th, 2014 at 1:23 PM ^
made me forget about Campbell. With all the other guys we already have at WR, Michigan will do perfectly well without Campbell. Still, I wish him luck in the future.
September 5th, 2014 at 3:36 PM ^
Cole is better than Campbell, and it is not even close.
September 5th, 2014 at 1:55 PM ^
Just don't look for him to lead the team in interceptions.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:35 PM ^
Well it would be nice to still have him and Hariis in the fold for 2015 but I can say that I believe that Weber and Cole will help soften the blow a good amount. Best wishes to him either way, it will be interesting if he does end up at DB instead of WR.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:50 PM ^
I think Cole does more than "soften the blow" here. In a vacuum, I'd take Cole over Campbell in an instant.
September 5th, 2014 at 2:08 PM ^
Really? In a vacuum without any preconceived notions about either player, you'd take the guy that was 2" shorter and had a 40 time that was a good tenth of a second slower as your WR?
September 5th, 2014 at 2:35 PM ^
but the knock on Campbell is that he has a case of the dropsies. Given that, I'd give up 2" and a tenth of a second in the 40.
September 5th, 2014 at 2:53 PM ^
I'm aware of the knock on Campbell, but you can fix a case of the dropsies. Braylon had the dropsies and he turned out pretty good. You can't teach speed or height. I'd take the extra speed and height every time. Even if you don't throw it to him, you have to dedicate two defenders to someone that runs a 4.3 forty and is 6'4".
September 5th, 2014 at 8:28 PM ^
these forty times are legit. Watch the film and tell me who is faster. Also Campbell is 6'3" not 6'4" Cole is 6'2".... Cole is a much more physical player as well. All that plus hes an instate kid and less than ten spots seperate them on the composite ranking.
P.S. dropsies do not go away. It haunted your boy Braylon his entire NFL career.
September 5th, 2014 at 4:22 PM ^
This is exactly my thinking. Cole's scouting reports say he has great hands. Campbell is a preposterously good athlete, but the scouts say he struggles to catch the ball. Given the choice I'd much rather take the guy with already developed ball skills and solid-to-very good size and speed over the guy with a little more size and speed without a proven ability to catch the ball.

September 5th, 2014 at 4:23 PM ^
Haha, fair point.
September 5th, 2014 at 1:24 PM ^
will never be a DB. He plays defensive end in high school, so maybe DE if he bulks up. Kid is 6'4".
September 5th, 2014 at 2:56 PM ^
A while back I was listening to some scouts talk about what a freak DE he would be if he dedicated himself to that position. They said with his speed, quickness, and frame he could be like a Clowney type of guy. But Campbell wants to be a WR so it ain't gonna happen.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:34 PM ^
Ok Mr Campbell. Clowney? GC is a 6'3" bean pole. Clowney is a once in 10 years type of player. GC has no where near the frame to ever be a "Clowney" type. He is a solid player but come on. Seriously you must be the kids father.
September 5th, 2014 at 12:52 PM ^
Good for the ex-Mayor. Good luck to him, and hopefully he figures out how to catch the ball more consistantly. The free fall in the rankings has been sad to watch.
[edit]: Before I get negged to death here. I am being sincere. I like George Campbell a lot. He can end up being scary good down the line. His hands seem to be the only thing that might hold him back.

Honestly, I thought he'd already committed to FSU. Shows what I know.

Congrats to George Cambell’s uncle.

September 5th, 2014 at 12:43 PM ^
cole is a better player.
September 5th, 2014 at 1:44 PM ^
You mean Brian Cole, the guy who could be a better WR than Campbell, or Mason Cole, the guy who could be the best player out of Campbell's high school in recent years?
September 5th, 2014 at 12:45 PM ^
Good luck to him in the future. Also, good luck to FSU keeping him committed. I honestly don't think the guy ends up being a WR anyway at this point, which is where the coaches wanted him.
