From Mike Weber's Twitter:
"@LostLettermen it isn't fake a coach on the Ohio state staff sent it through direct message"
Also, where has Silverman denied it (I doubt he could publicly say anything since it involves a recruit)? It's Jeremy Birmingham from 11W that's claiming it's a fake made by some U-M fan and that anything official from OSU always has Urban's signature on it:
"Whichever UM fan made that Sports Illustrated cover for did a nice job - it’s a good looking fake, but not official OSU entry."
Believe who you want. I'll take the side of the recruit says he got it via DM from an OSU coach.
I'm leaning more towards this is fake or at least not from OSU. Doesn't look anything like other work they sent out. Weber probably just trying to save face.
If ANY of your comments weren't about Ohio State.
Does photoshop not have spellcheck?
Tho they did spell his last name correctly, OP...
True.
Photoshop does not have spellcheck, fwiw
PS does have a spell-check function -- click "Edit" then "Check Spelling...." Typos are not apparent via red underlines like you'd see in a text editor (e.g. MS Word).
I'll deilver that feedback internally. Glad tosu had a chance to follow in our footsteps. It was the Amercian thing to do.
I just switched over to using Linux again (since I will soon loose my work computer) and in all the times I used Photoshop over the past few years, I NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A SPELL CHECK OPTION. Better late than never, I guess?
for nuggets like this... and Michigan news, trivia and tripe of course. Go Blue.
Being using Photoshop since 1999...never knew...
Worth adding that f you do not specifically highlight a selection of text, Edit > Check Spelling will check spelling of all text in all text layers of the file.
You can also go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and make a shortcut (e.g. F7) that makes checking spelling a little easier. Double bonus!
if you are going to fisk them for spelling errors, maybe spell his name correctly
Seems like they have it covered up above...
WEBER
The Ohio difference.
I mean... surely you must be aware, as noted by the OP, that the Michigan difference just produced the same type of error. Apparently it's not about Michigan or Ohio... the Amercian educational system isn't deilvering.
The poster this is aimed at isn't aware of a whole lot.
The Theme From Deilverance
...which somehow seems appropriate anyway, seeing that we're talking about the backward state known as Ohio.
so in the eyes of the students, Deilver could arguably be correct. . .
FIFY
Pot meet kettle...
Amercian!
wasn't it?
I wasn't so got'damn long winded...I would've beat you.
Not sure why there is a need to repost. It was simply to say "OSU did it too!" Not call attention to something that Michigan didn't do, and do first.
Michigan's magazine is way cooler by the way.
anyone who can downvote this has a stick up their ass. talk about arrogance. they made the same mistake michigan did. you cant just laugh at that? geesh.
There's no reason why a school needs to photoshop pictures to recruit a player, it's weird. It's gets even creepier when the fans start to do it.
They took regulations off recruiting and now you HAVE to do this crap just because everyone else is doing it.
You can't fall behind to Alabama, UT, Florida, OSU, etc. just because you think something is dumb or immature. Kids like this crap and that's who they're trying to impress. Why did OSU put me on a magazine cover but Michigan did? They must want me more, I'm more of a priorty to them. Those are the thought processes you're dealing with.
The NCAA deregulated everything and now you can send media guides out the wazzoo, you can send any and every time of material or publication you want. I feel sorry for the mailmen and women because the new NCAA recruiting rules just made their lives a lot harder.
So don't blame Michigan, they're just doing what everyone else is doing whether they like it or not.
I guarantee athletic departments would much rather spend their time and money elsewhere, but it's an arms race. Football departments now hire their own graphic designers and marketing staff! That's crazy.
But you need someone to design, publish, and organize all this crap that no one really needs.
Posted below...this (that) is what I'm talking about.
It's going to further the game between the big schools that can afford to do all of this and the EMU's that can't.
But like I said, these positions are being created all over the country in the Big 5 conferences. I've worked in college athletics fror 8 years now, it's all that was discussed last summer as it was originally supposed to go into effect in August, but I believe it got tabled until the winter/spring...and here it is.
Enjoy, because it's likely hear to stay.
College football is so increasingly awful that "Hey, it's an arm race" feels like less of an excuse with each passing year. What's the end game?
As somebody who's worked in the field for longer than many MGoBloggers have been alive, I can say unequivocally that it's not crazy, it's absolutely brilliant.
It's brilliant for athletics departments to have their own graphic designers that handle all sports, including football.
It's not brilliant for the NCAA's new rules or non-rules to force individual football teams to have their own graphic designer just to do shit like this.
I'm all about providing employment, but these recruiting tools are totally unnecessary.
payments, this crap may be the only thing keeping the post office in business.
Well, between our gaffe and Ohio State, we've turned this poor kid into an All-Amercian who is ready to deilver titles, which would definitely put Weber in an unique position. If this is going to be a strategy for schools moving forward, it might be time to at least run some of these faux covers through additional QC checks before they get sent to prospective recruits.
*younik
My point exactly.

I thought stuff like this was against NCAA rules. Did they change them in a purge, or has everyone just stopped caring?
They proposed it, tabeled it, then passed most of it.
It's this, it's texting, it's media guides, it's a bunch of crap that big schools are going to go overboard with.
Pryor did the proofreading.
Tuos...I use it when tweeting with my buckeye faithful. Be surprise how many of them forgot his presser when he said who he was committing too.
"deilver"
spotted it.
Thought the same thing.
