So I got an email from Michigan Football
It seems the wheels are coming off in Ann Arbor. For a limited time only(until May 16th) and because I'm a former football ticket pack purchaser I've been invited to "be (in) one of the most exclusive groups in all of sports". For $100 donation I could get season football tickets in the endzone AND they'll waive the PSD.
Crappy schedule this year, I know. Nonetheless, I took the deal. I'm the very proud owner of 2 season tickets to Michigan football. I promise you, some of my greatest lifetime memories have come while I was inside Michigan Stadium.
Sorry, I don't know how to copy and paste the email to the board. Shoot me.
I have mine.
If your point is that those who are taking glee that ticket sales appear to be stalling aren't true Maize and Blue, I agree with you. I put them in the same category as those that desire Michigan lose enough games to give Brandon no choice but to fire Hoke.
But despite my arrogant narcissism, I didn't say anything when you very clearly came back after being nuked earlier this year. So I'm a benevolently arrogant narcissist. And that's gotta count for something.
So we're clear - I was just joking.
(Though I do think the whole "My family has produced All-American athletes for the University of Michigan" was a little much)
/ducks
I still support the team through my rooting preferences, and I support the program through merchandise sales and watching them on tv, whether the team and home schedule are good or not. I didn't renew because the in-stadium experience isn't worth the money I spend over the at-home experience; that's on the department for making the in-stadium experience feel like it doesn't give two shits about the fans.
Eventually people like will begin to weigh the pros and cons of going to live events, and when the in-stadium experience doesn't become worth it anymore, they will opt out. Sometimes change doesn't happen immediately, but a bad at-home schedule could be enough to push people over the edge.
It's different for moving away then to try to make a point.
The fairweather fan argument seems silly to me. If it is fairweather fans that have been propping up the sellout streak, it would be wise to have a winner!
This is coming from a season ticket holder.
yeah I am a fair weather fan for not ponying up $1000+ for season tickets...nice strawman fallacy.
Excellent! A strawman argument deployed as part of a complaint about strawman fallacies!
I hafta remember your post for when I need an example of irony.
Jesus. Y'all are some sadistic people. It's almost like everyone is rooting for the 100k streak to end, the team to suck next year etc.
or is it the fact people have less and less disposable income
used to
Bingo, as the amount of disposable income decreases so does my tolerance for Dave Brandon's antics...
The 100k streak won't end. Even if the attendance is lower they'll probably just lie.
Many of those who renewed were able to get better seats within their tier (if they requested). Others, like myself, were offered a discount to move up a tier. This leaves a sizable portion of shitty season tickets seats available (seats in the endzone). This is where they grab the next people in line on the donor list to fill these seats. Typically is was those who donated $500 or above. Apparently this crop of people aren't buying this year which is strange since they presumably donated money to capture the prestige of buying season tickets. Not this year and they weren't expecting that.
I've sat all around Michigan Stadium and I would rather sit directly behind the goal posts than anywhere between the goal line and 15 yard line.
My seats are on the aisle that runs right up through the center endzone section. I guarantee I have a better view of most plays than 90% of the stadium. And I pay a lot less than those people along the sidelines. I just wish I were a little lower down the bowl.
I figuratively LOL'ed at the word prestige in your post.
Faxed it just for you.
...and it's what you should do.
You add absolutely NOTHING to this site or this board except sarcasm and arrogance --- and we have plenty of that already.
You seem to feel like you need to be a dick to everyone, so maybe if I'm a dick to you...you'll get it. At least if you're going to act the way you do, you can provide some meaningful conversation at SOME POINT. But no...you just lurk around waiting to show you're smarter than someone else on the internet.
Clown.
PREACH.
That mother fucker told me to "go fuck myself" when I politely let him know he could watch new GoT episodes on HBOGo the moment they started in real time.
I mean, who does that? He's clearly a communist OR a terrorist.
It was 395 dollars last year. When you add one game for this year's team it is cheaper at face value. Tell me it's about money.
I'd be more than mildly upset.
welcome to my world as a michigan hockey season ticket holder when I see seats around me being offered for over 50% discount as part of ticket packs.
Is the PSD permanently waived with the $100 donation? If so it sounds like a very good deal - the PSDs' really suck. Or just for this year?
Waived for this year only.
It's normally a $500 donation.
