OT: KCP Goes for 30 Tonight
KCP had 30 points tonight for the Pistons. Shot 11-19, including 5-7 from behind the arc.
Added six rebounds and two steals.
Trey is one of my all-time favorite Michigan players...and yes I was disappointed when the Pistons passed on him...but I'm a life-long Pistons fan so it was nice to see KCP get some PT and take advantage of the opportunity.
There's a lot of talent on this team. If Gores can get the right GM and Coach, this is a playoff team.
Drummond/Moose/KCP/Jennings...and find a decent SF thru FA, trade or draft.
Maybe they can find some moran to take Josh Smith off our hands.
Hoping for a Sacremento victory tonight so we'll be tied for 7th worst record...and then hope everything goes our way so that we keep our pick.
Bad Boys 30 for 30 tomorrow night!

I think this is the very definition of OT.
EDIT: And now that you've changed it, to save my own face, I'll also leave a comment. This Burke vs. KCP drama is way overplayed here and never seems to end well.

We have rules, you know. And I still don't know what the heck a KCP is.

Everybody knew the drama was coming though. KCP will forever be the guy that the Pistons took over Burke. It of course comes from nothing KCP did, but that's going to be how every Michigan fan remembers him. Maybe he develops into something special and makes us forget it, but considering that Burke has been pretty good so far, I don't think anybody will be forgetting anytime soon.

And his team won
April 16th, 2014 at 11:06 PM ^
Trey Burke finished as follows:
32 points
10-21 FG
2-4 3- pointers
10-10 FT
7 Rebounds
9 Assists
Wow!
April 16th, 2014 at 11:22 PM ^
but it took a 2 OT against a mediocre Minnesota team
while KCP had
30 pts
11-19 FG
5-7 3 pts
6 Rebounds
2 Steals
KCP had a better game because he did it in regulation time against a vastly superior team even though Trey had a good game as well.
Minnesota team while KCP did it against a full strength OKC team. KCP did it against a much tougher competition.

Sacremento will start pulling old ladies from the stands to play before they allow themselves to win that game... which is what Detroit SHOULD have done weeks ago.
They went to OT.

Obligatory:
-NBA sucks
-Pistons should've taken Burke
-Pistons' front office sucks
-LeBron sucks

OT: Tigers had runner on third with one out, down one in the ninth and failed to score. Tough early loss to the damn Indians.

Don Kelly had one job... one singular job.
April 16th, 2014 at 11:35 PM ^
Tis the problem when you have a weak bench, can't even get someone to lift a flyball.
April 16th, 2014 at 11:41 PM ^
What might be more troubling is that Don Kelly pinch hitting was probably a good idea at the time, given who was scheduled to come up.

Didn't see it, but check the box score b/c of this KCP stuff. The Pistons (shockinigly!) blew a late lead to lose by one. Their final three shots:
- Brandon Jennings misses a 3-point jump shot from 29 feet out.
- Derek Fisher blocks a Kentavious Caldwell-Pope layup from 2 feet out.
- Brandon Jennings misses a 3-point jump shot from 31 feet out.
Surprised Jennings wasn't shotting from half-court with his great shot selction.
An appropriate way to end an atrocious season.

This is good, right? Didn't they need to tank tonight to keep their draft pick?
April 16th, 2014 at 11:40 PM ^
... Reading the box score doesn't really provide grounds for criticizing his 29-foot jump shot. He was taking a desparation turn-around three at the buzzer off of a tipped jump ball. It was a wild shot, but the only shot he had, and he almost hit it.
I hope this is the last time I have to defend Brandon Jennings.
Also (to Frito) the Pistons had already secured an 82% (or thereabouts) chance of keeping their draftpick. I don't know whether a Sacramento win tonight (implausible) would bump that up another 10%, but we're well past the point of outright guaranteeing or outright losing the pick.
I don't know why anyone would defend Jennings. Doesn't defend, doesn't penetrate, turns the ball over, shoots way too much. He. Is. Terrible.

Why don't the Pistons, Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings draft the respective Michigan teams each year?
Like I don't get it. I want my teams to draft the best player available who they think can help their team out in a position they need help in. I don't care where he went to school. I can still root for Michigan players outside of Detroit teams. I'm happy for their success no matter where they play and I don't need them on Detroit teams to enjoy their success.

dear lord, I knew when I saw the stat line that there would be a thread on this page...
maybe we should just do one thread a month so as to limit the clutter? lol

30 For 30 on the Bad Boys. Looking forward to seeing that, those Pistons of the 80's (Chuck Daly, Zeke, Laimbeer, Mahorn, Rodman, Vinnie, etc)---so much fun to watch.
The Bad Boys were to the NBA what the Hanson Brothers were to hockey.

but actually getting touches does wonders--tough to do when Jennings and Smith are on the floor. Hopefully this is a glimpse of better times and not an outlier. Good for KCP.

plus actual touches, not some token touches to show what he can do. The result? A very efficient 30 points game while disrupting Westbrook for most of the night. KCP needs to start and play 30 minutes every night next year and get actual touches as well.
KCP had a really bad rookie season. No excuses...the kid stunk up the joint and eventually got benched.
You need to check some box scores if you think KCP didn't have any games with an opportunity to shoot. Face it, bad rookie year.
I don't disagree and think he had a good year, but the timing of his benching was very strange. He was pretty solid in January - 47% from the field, 8.5ppg, 3 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.7 spg and played solid defense (something few on the team did). Not spectacular, but definitely worthy of keeping some consistent playing time. Following January, his minutes in games in February were as follows: 21, 8, 13, 8, 12, 21, 9, 10, 3, 3, 14, 2, 11. I don't know how anyone maintains any consistency getting those minutes. And even if the Pistons were still trying to get into the playoffs at that point, he should have been getting at least 25 minutes a night the last two months as we started to tank. I mean, they were giving Jerebko some pretty solid playing time the last month. I mean, why is a 27 year old role playing getting 20+mpg consistently, but your rookie SG who isn't a tire fire isn't when you're not even trying to win games? Makes no sense.

doesn't love Chachi any more, so maybe Erin Moran would be willing to take Josh Smith off the Piston's hands for you.
