Recent injury situations, Michigan, OSU, Illinois
For Michigan, latest (and I hope very temporary injuries) are Edwards (played a couple plays, then was out for the rest), Schoony (didn't play today), Morris (some sort of leg pain late in the game today). Various others (Keegan, Jones, Paige) -- not sure of status there.
OSU lost Miyan Williams in today's game. The tackle where it happened didn't look too bad, but he seemed to suffer a lower-leg injury, and was driven off in a cart. TreVeyon Henderson was already out, wearing a boot on his foot still today. Jaxon Smith-Njigba didn't play in the Indiana game.
Illinois lost Chase Brown in today's game. It didn't look minor, unfortunately for the kid.

Praying Edwards was out just for precautionary reasons. He brings such dynamic element to this offense. Need him to play in Cbus.
November 13th, 2022 at 6:41 AM ^
I think CJ has taken some positive steps and can spell Blake if for some reason Donovan still can't go against the Illini. We should do good against the Illini, now that Brown is out of the picture. Bert rode him into the ground and that team's future success is in doubt.
November 13th, 2022 at 7:06 AM ^
Donovan's value, specifically the way our offense is struggling in the passing game, is to be spread out as a slot receiver.
The dropoff from Blake to Donovan as just a back toting the rock is pretty obvious, but D Edwards is a huge factor in the passing game. We will need him in Cbus, and if healthy, I would not be surprised to see us with the 2 backs in there at the same time, where we motion DE out as a WR.
November 13th, 2022 at 7:19 AM ^
CJ Stokes ran with confidence and fortunately did not fumble nor have any near-fumble moments.
November 13th, 2022 at 8:44 AM ^
Bert rode Chase Brown hard, to the tune of ~30 carries/game. Which kinda sounds familiar... I mean, it's not fair to blame that on Bert if we're not riding Harbaugh to slow down Blake's pace. Is Brown Illinois' offense? Yes. But the same can be largely said of Michigan. I LOVE watching Blake run - best back I can clearly remember at Michigan and the Heisman is a real possibility. But I do sometimes wish the offense could be a little more diverse...
November 13th, 2022 at 10:00 AM ^
I am still hoping that Harbaugh will open things up against OSU. That he has been holding things back. Is that a foolish hope!? Do we say this every year!? Maybe…I don’t know.
November 13th, 2022 at 11:53 AM ^
It's hard to be good at things when you don't rep them live fire in a game. Busting out a passing game isn't like flipping a switch. They need to throw more than 15 passes against Illinois.
November 13th, 2022 at 12:01 PM ^
Yep, I've been saying this for most of the conference schedule. The attitude should have been, "we need to pass because we need to be better at passing", not "we don't need to pass, so we won't".
We will need to pass, and I'm not convinced we will be able to effectively at this point. Everything in the pass game is out of sync. Receivers are off, QB is off (including now making incorrect zone reads), and the timing isn't there, either.
It's not gonna get turned around in a week. It's going to be Michigan running versus OSU passing. I sure hope we can handle 8 in the box.

Yes
Remember when we were saving Jabrill gadget plays for the OSU game?
November 14th, 2022 at 12:18 PM ^
It’s mostly lan urban legend that coaches hold back segments of their offense to surprise another team. Generally, they add a wrinkle or two each week based on any weaknesses they think they can exploit against the opposing team. Rather than hold back segments, they put them on film and force the opposing teams to prepare for them.
OSU and UM will have wrinkles they add during hate week, but there is no portion of the offense they have had in their back pocket for the last 10 weeks.
November 13th, 2022 at 9:57 AM ^
CJ still moves ball around too much when he runs for my liking: too susceptible to fumble.
November 13th, 2022 at 5:06 AM ^
It looked like Morris cramped up, at least I hope that’s all it was.
November 13th, 2022 at 6:50 AM ^
I hope you're right, but he was limping when he came out of the tent.
November 13th, 2022 at 7:10 AM ^
Morris got rolled up on by Upshaw on the final sack of the game. I think it's an ankle.
November 13th, 2022 at 7:15 AM ^
Just awful player management with him in the game at that point: Up 28 points, 6 minutes left, Nebraska flailing on offense with their 3rd string QB--and Morris, the team's best pass rusher, is injured two weeks before playing OSU?
November 13th, 2022 at 2:32 PM ^
harbaugh needs to do much better in this area. if youre not gonna pull all your starters most teams have a solid nucleus they should protect late in games. few good reasons for one of your top players to still be out there in that situation - of course the guys want to play but sense must prevail.
theyve had teams diving at corums legs up 3-4 scores with 3-4 minutes left. i dont know how a coach defends that
November 13th, 2022 at 8:42 AM ^
Morris nodded to a teammate after he was taken out that he was OK.
November 13th, 2022 at 7:12 AM ^
That wasn't a cramp, I'm not sure what you saw, but he was in pain for awhile after the play was over. It was weird, but it looked like he went up in the stands after he left the game, because they showed him limping down the stairs back on to the sidelines.
November 13th, 2022 at 10:28 AM ^
Brandon Brown said on Twitter he got leg whipped
November 13th, 2022 at 10:31 AM ^
I've had leg cramps that left me limping all day.
November 13th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
Dude that was not a cramp, plainly obvious.
November 13th, 2022 at 8:07 AM ^
Someone in another thread or on Twitter said it was a hamstring cramp.
November 13th, 2022 at 8:11 AM ^
I read that he's in a boot and getting x-rays.
Which generally sounds like an ankle sprain (most likely if true). The X-ray is generally to rule out anything worst.
Holding my breath on that one.
Edwards issue is apparently his hand.
November 13th, 2022 at 9:25 AM ^
Adjectives, it is a pet peeve of mine.
- Bad, adjective That injury looks bad.
- Worse, the comparative form of bad used to compare two things, His injury looks worse than the other one's.
- Worst, the superlative form of bad comparing more than two things. His injury looks bad while this other guy's injury looks worse but, this injury is the worst one of the three.
November 13th, 2022 at 10:31 AM ^
Adverbs are what really grind me!
November 13th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
Utterly.
November 13th, 2022 at 8:37 AM ^
Twitter is the last place I'd go for news and info right now.
It's sad.
And now the big thing is to "screen capture" instances of users with imitation accounts saying outlandish stuff.
Except the screenshots are just photoshop. And so it's an imitation of an imitation account.
It's like Inception.
November 13th, 2022 at 8:45 AM ^
I find out things on Twitter faster than anywhere so that's not true at all. It comes down to hearing it from the right people on Twitter.
November 13th, 2022 at 8:52 AM ^
Twitter is a cess pool of hate now led by a narcissistic troll.
November 13th, 2022 at 9:25 AM ^
But it was ok before, yes?
November 13th, 2022 at 9:31 AM ^
Yes. It was ok before because the blue checkmark people could spew their hatred and bigotry for free. Now they have to pay $8/month to do it.
/eyeroll
November 13th, 2022 at 9:50 AM ^
Jesus Christ, WindyCityBlue. Do better.
Roscoe Village, here.
Anyway, it has nothing to do with that.
1. Now people can pay $8, get a checkmark and claim to be a person or entity that they are not.
2. Now people screenshot something that people with blue checks have...share it. Only they didn't screenshot the real account.
3. Now because people are screenshoting, others are creating fake screenshots by photoshopping tweets when there isn't even a fake account.
4. Now real reputable sources, ones that you and I trust...are retweeting and quoting fake accounts and fake tweets at an alarming rate, because they're getting tricked by the blue check.
Did you not see the insulin deal this past week? Real life shit is being impacted by this because people DO consider Twitter to be a news source (myself included). But it's harder now more than ever to wade through the garage and one mistake by one person can release a cascade of misinformation. That's a problem.
So fuck your sarcasm. Go Cubs.
November 13th, 2022 at 10:11 AM ^
I’m sorry, but anyone who goes to Twitter for credible information (pre or post Elon) is just plain stupid. YOU can do better MaizeBlueAA if you were duped by someone on Twitter. If you got your degree at Michigan, then you slept through the part of college when they taught you how to think critically.
Besides, Twitter never was meant to be a place for credible information anyway. If that was the case, then they never should have given you an account.
November 13th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
Hey, wait, there’s a whole thread posted based on a series of tweets from John U Bacon. We can’t treat those as credible information? (Not that twitter isn’t overall a cesspool.)
November 13th, 2022 at 12:06 PM ^
Well according to MaizeBlueA2 you can’t trust Twitter these days, so…
November 14th, 2022 at 6:57 AM ^
No. I wasn't not duped.
But people are is my point.
And so you're calling a lot of people on this board...stupid. Including the people who responded to me who thought I was calling them stupid for using Twitter to get news.
Which isn't exactly why I wasn't knocking people who get news and info from Twitter.
But rather I was calling attention to how much worse things have gotten in the past couple of weeks and how much MORE misinformation is being spread.
How did we get here?
People thought I was calling them stupid for using Twitter for news, which I didn't...and then you outright DO call them stupid.
----
But you can miss me with the rest of your bullshit post because it doesn't apply to me. I'd never use social media for anything more than what it is. But if you can't acknowledge something that is today's reality whether it was intended to be or not, that's your ignorance. Or, sorry, stupidity.
November 13th, 2022 at 10:30 AM ^
They already pulled the plug on the $8/mo checkmark.
November 13th, 2022 at 1:27 PM ^
Getting back onto MGoBlog is not such a bad deal at $5.
November 13th, 2022 at 10:45 AM ^
No. It never has been. Social media is fucked and always has been. It’s the reason people walk around filming themselves doing the most mundane, nonsensical shit nobody should care about just do they can get imaginary, virtual “friends” and “likes”. Down vote me to eternity. I don’t give a shit.
And get the fuck off my lawn!
November 13th, 2022 at 11:19 AM ^
Isn't MGoBlog pretty much social media? :)
We're making posts, chatting with people online, hoping to get points/likes... I think the most points I've ever received here was posting a pic of Anna Kournikova.
November 13th, 2022 at 9:40 AM ^
I'm agreeing with you, most people do as well.
But if you haven't been following the past couple of weeks. That is changing and there are "credible" sources saying outlandish things except its not actually the source you think it is.
So for that fact...I would caution anyone from considering Twitter a news outlet right now.
Because it's very easy to deceive someone and that credible source that you trust could very easily be reciting something that is completely made up.
It's happening like crazy right now.
I'm not sure why so many of you got offended by something that is fact, lol...but my apologies if I could've worded it to be less offensive.
November 13th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
You're really picking up on how this works. :)
November 13th, 2022 at 10:32 AM ^
From the stands, I thought cramp as well. Usually guys grab at their knee or ankle if that's what it is. His leg was straight out, and then he suddenly popped up and hobbled off the field. With it being late in the game, it'd make sense. Might just be wishful thinking though.
November 13th, 2022 at 10:57 AM ^
Giving a +1 for the first post after yet another politicized “discussion” about Twitter.
Im hoping Morris’ issue was just a simple leg cramp too.
November 13th, 2022 at 11:18 AM ^
I mean the spot he was grabbing initially was either a hamstring pull, etc or a cramp. Hoping it's a cramp because I think a hamstring pull would be unlikely to heal by OSU.
November 13th, 2022 at 7:29 AM ^
Got to hope these guys are all ready in two weeks. You’d like to think they won’t be needed next week and can hold them out as a precaution if need be. But if they’re not available in Columbus, that is…..problematic.
I’m hoping whatever DE had isn’t serious. I saw several shots of him still on the sidelines with his helmet on so from my untrained eye, it looks like he could’ve played if it was necessary. Morris, I’m not so sure about. He looked like he was still limping when he came out of the tent.
November 13th, 2022 at 8:07 AM ^
Edwards had his hand wrapped. He was doing running drills with Hart before the start of the 3Q and looked very crisp. But he does need two hands so hopefully that can be treated this week.
November 13th, 2022 at 7:31 AM ^
Did the rules about reporting injuries change this off-season? I don’t ever remember such opacity around our players’ injury statuses.
