Which is funnier? Rutgers losing to Nebraska or Nebraska losing to Rutgers? Both have potential.
On a similar note, what if Michigan State beat Ohio State? Would you be happy because Ohio State lost a game, or mad because MSU's disaster season suddenly includes an upset for the ages?
October 7th, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
I would rather MSU beat OSU since it shows OSU is human and gives us a little more cushion to work with. MSU to toast regardless and their season is over.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:18 PM ^
Unfortunately even after they get smoked their season isn't over because they haven't played their Super Bowl yet
October 7th, 2022 at 8:24 PM ^
Doesn't really add any "cushion" though does it? If they are 10-1 with a loss to MSU and we are 11-0 going into the game then the stakes are exactly the same right? They'd need another loss for the msu loss to come into play. I'd like to see MSU get torched.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
I mostly mean there's slightly less pressure to win every game, mainly PSU. Somewhat like last year.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:39 PM ^
MSU's season is the Michigan game. If they somehow beat OSU, that would 1) suggest that they're also talented enough to beat us and 2) give them a monster emotional lift, just three weeks before our game. No thanks. I'd rather see MSU continue to tank and people make fun of Tucker and his ridiculous contract. Fortunately, that's what will happen.
We'll get our crack at the Bucknuts.
October 8th, 2022 at 8:51 AM ^
I agree. OSU's program will still be very good, even if they were too lose. MSU's program has a better chance of going into the crapper entirely as the beat-downs pile up.
However, if MSU were to win, there'd always be the wonderful consolation of OSU losing. As long as I remain focused on whichever team is losing, I'm fine with it.
I always enjoy watching this match-up, because I know that one team that I hate will lose.
October 8th, 2022 at 6:24 AM ^
This is the most based take, but naw, I hope OSU beats them by 70.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
Easy: Nebraska losing to Rutger. Look at that stadium. It's empty. Rutgers has too few fans to truly appreciate the reverse. They expect to lose because it's all they know.
October 8th, 2022 at 1:20 AM ^
I think I heard someone say the stadium is now branded "SHI" Stadium. They seem to be one letter away from a very cute prank.
Devin is doing well. He has a natural talent for this.
October 8th, 2022 at 8:55 AM ^
I just spent a week on the far east coast, (NJ, CT, RI) and was struck about the apparent lack of any interest in college football. No banners, no signs, no team shirts etc.
I'd be interested to see an analysis of how much the addition of Rutgers to the Big Ten has resulted in an increase in revenue for the conference.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:33 PM ^
Nebraska losing to Rutgers is funnier. It wouldn't be surprising, either, although it would be the first time Rutgers has actually beaten Nebraska.
I don't see Michigan State winning unless Ohio State's entire first team is trapped on the bus and doesn't make it into the stadium. The real drama is going to be whether or not Ohio State covers the spread.
I think they do, but I think there's a chance Ohio State doesn't take MSU as seriously this year and slops their way to something like a 45-24 win.
October 7th, 2022 at 10:08 PM ^
Even if OSU plays sloppy, you still think MSU has enough to put up 24? That would shock me for sure.
October 7th, 2022 at 11:02 PM ^
My premise is that Ohio State plays a sloppy game and doesn't cover. Sure MSU could score 24 points, given some turnovers and poor defense in garbage time.
Will they? We'll see.
October 8th, 2022 at 9:04 AM ^
27 is always a lot of points, especially on the road. A MSU 3rd-and 1 that gets broken for a TD, a pick-six, a fumble recovery, any cheap scores like that, and you're looking at OSU having to put up 40-50 points on the road to cover. I'd find something else to bet on.

the funniest thing tonight is this Facebook ad I received. It seems the "cooler pooper" reputation is now a "precious moment"
October 7th, 2022 at 9:17 PM ^
The girl is saying: "Please don't shit in there, I beg you. Not this one too."
October 7th, 2022 at 10:19 PM ^
Nevermind the fact she looks about 10 years old, and is holding a beer.

Standard
October 7th, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
Personally, I like the energy he brings in this role. I haven’t noticed any bias, and he sounds like he’s done some homework. Still a bit raw, but the potential feels off the chart to me. Go DG, and Go Blue!!!
October 7th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
Exactly what bias would he potentially bring to this game?
October 7th, 2022 at 9:04 PM ^
Strong aversion to terrible football?
October 7th, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
This strobe light effect is terrible, but perhaps epilepsy is better than watching.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:26 PM ^
New Jersey at nite--everybody's got that sniff!
Anyway, this is now the Night Game/Friday Whatcha Drinkin' thread by default. I'm usually out Fridays but caught a cold, so it's a night at home and weed smoking for me.
Baseball playoffs are also a thing. The Mariners beat the Blue Jays while the Cardinals choked away a big lead in the ninth. Fuck the Cardinals. I'm interested in the Mets / Padres tilt because I would like my Met peeps to have good things for once this century. As long as it's not at the expense of the Yankees. I'll stick with the Rutger / Fightin' Interim Head Coaches clash until the point at which my eyes bleed.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:33 PM ^
Since this is the drinking thread now, I'm on my second pour of Springbank 12 cask strength.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:56 PM ^
I'm drinking the Champagne of Beers.

Always a +1 for living the High Life.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:39 PM ^
Rutgers really does have a knack for blocking kicks/punts.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
And Nebraska has a knack for failing HARD at special teams.
It's quite the combination.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:05 PM ^
Too bad Rutger doesn't have a knack for anything else.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:50 PM ^
Another int. This might be Nebraska bottoming out right here. Down 10-0 and chucking it away again.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:50 PM ^
Thanks for the heads up. Go Rutger!
October 7th, 2022 at 7:51 PM ^
Devin needs a little polish, but you can tell he knows a ton
October 7th, 2022 at 7:53 PM ^
Love Devin. His commentary is great, wish he could keep the energy without sounding like he's trying to yell something to a friend in a loud bar. When he gets his volume level adjusted to like a 7, he's fantastic.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
Just put the game on for a few minutes. A couple of observations…
***This is brutal to watch. Two really bad teams.
***Gardner sounds really raw but it’s clear that he’s very knowledgeable. I’m guessing he’ll improve quickly!
October 7th, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
During the worst of the Rich Rod and Hoke years, Michigan was never as bad as this Nebraska team.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:56 PM ^
Yeah, even RR's 3-9 team would have housed this Nebraska team. They're atrocious.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:32 PM ^
The one that lost to Toledo?
October 7th, 2022 at 9:13 PM ^
Nebraska lost to a Sun Belt team. Michigan under Rich Rod could score in bunches. They were capable of 40+ easy on weak defenses and 20+ on the elites. Rich Rod's defenses were atrocious which held the team back. Michigan under Hoke beat OSU (I saw that at Michigan Stadium!) and played them close the next year when they had Meyer coaching. The offense under Hoke was...what it was and that held those teams back.
This Nebraska team is terrible at ALL phases of the game.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:15 PM ^
Our 2008 team couldn't score in bunches. That was the team with Steven Threet and Nick Sheridan at QB. But it had a halfway decent defense, at least until RichRod decided to change to a 3-3-5 the week of the Purdue game.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:45 PM ^
Okay, yeah, facts. That team couldn't score. I still think they were better than this NU teams.
October 7th, 2022 at 11:41 PM ^
Exactly. Pretty sure that team scored 30 or more only once all season, and that was the game that they put up over 40 on Purdue... and decided to lose anyway.
October 7th, 2022 at 9:35 PM ^
RichRod Michigan lost to Toledo 13-10. Not exactly scoring in bunches.
October 7th, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
Nebraska is such a shitshow. The fact that they beat Indiana by 2 TDs last week should tell us something about how tomorrow is gonna go
October 7th, 2022 at 7:57 PM ^
Nebraska suuuuucks. By extension, Indiana must really, really suck.
October 8th, 2022 at 6:25 AM ^
I was saying this in the first half as well. Was pretty surprised to wake up this morning and see they somehow won this poop fight.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:07 PM ^
This game is so so SO painful to watch. I may need to flip to Mets/Padres soon.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:12 PM ^
Devin was badly coached while at Michigan and didn't even get to have his own number.
Not quite good enough to stick with a NFL team.
Happy to see him make a little money from a sport he put so much heart into.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
He's also a private QB coach which probably brings in some decent coin.
October 7th, 2022 at 8:32 PM ^
Devon got enough of the spotlight at Michigan that he was able to parlay it into a successful career. That's the Michigan difference.
