Fucking terrible, prayers to Caris!
January 16th, 2021 at 6:26 PM ^
That trade was a blessing in disguise.
January 16th, 2021 at 6:41 PM ^
I see what you’re saying, but I doubt the Nets see it as a blessing in disguise. They got James Harden. A blessing in disguise usually arises when something happens that is initially perceived as a bad thing.
I don’t think anyone in the Nets organization or in Nets fandom ever perceived the James Harden trade as a bad thing.
January 16th, 2021 at 6:50 PM ^
I think he meant in terms of Caris being traded from the Nets to the Pacers.
January 16th, 2021 at 6:53 PM ^
Maybe he means Caris likely wanted to stay with the Nets, but because of the trade he had an extensive physical that identified something he might not have otherwise found?
January 16th, 2021 at 7:01 PM ^
Bingo.
January 16th, 2021 at 8:37 PM ^
I dont think you saw what he was saying.
January 16th, 2021 at 6:36 PM ^
Thank God, or rather, science for non-invasive means to look inside the human body. Good or bad, at least it was found and they can do something about it. Be strong, Caris.
January 16th, 2021 at 6:44 PM ^
One can be thankful for both... not mutually exclusive.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:56 PM ^
God forbid he might be an atheist. Good thing you cleared that up for us. I was about to faint from the blasphemy.
January 16th, 2021 at 9:00 PM ^
Which is why the qualifying verb "can" was used. No need to be an ass.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:44 PM ^
And the people rejoiced
January 16th, 2021 at 6:55 PM ^
mass on kidney just doesn't have much of a chance of being anything other than bad, but we can hope. sincere thoughts and prayers that it is some benign mass.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:07 PM ^
I’m hoping “small” is a good thing
January 16th, 2021 at 7:20 PM ^
Not a Dr but a very quick web search uncovered
“The incidental discovery of a mass on the kidney has become a commonplace occurrence now that imaging modalities such as ultrasound, MRI and particularly CT scanning is so prevalent. It is of course very scary to be told that by accident a mass or lesion has been found on one’s kidney, and almost always in such a circumstance a patient will be referred for counseling or perhaps even surgery to remove the mass. It is important to remember however that many masses or suspicious lesions may not need to be removed, may not be cancerous, and even if cancerous are usually cured with removal alone.”
”Kidney cysts can be very normal findings, and if they have no suspicious characteristics may not require further treatment or even to be followed.”
January 16th, 2021 at 7:58 PM ^
It is possible for someone to have an opinion without you having to correct them all the time. God your shtick is tired and old.
January 16th, 2021 at 8:04 PM ^
His "opinion" was just wrong though. The person correcting him gave him information he didn't have before. That's a good thing.
January 16th, 2021 at 8:13 PM ^
actually jon, in your desperate rush to do or say anything that is negative, it really wasn't even an opinion as much as it was the thought that any one of us (even you jon) who got the news that lavert got would be extremely worried about the diagnosis and prognosis. that won't stop you from attempting to jump on any of my posts, but for us normal folks it provides a little insight.
January 16th, 2021 at 10:29 PM ^
What “insight” was contained in your original reply? When did you become such a know nothing shit poster?
January 16th, 2021 at 11:11 PM ^
Hilarious that the poster that chimes in with 'not much of a chance of being anything other than bad' gets on another poster for being negative.
You can't make this lack of self-awareness up.
January 17th, 2021 at 6:13 AM ^
Or maybe he's just expressing his worries upon seeing the title. Admittedly my very first thought was "oh crap that can't be good" until reading further.
Lordy people here really need to relax.
January 17th, 2021 at 9:07 AM ^
Agree... My immediate thought was cancer, because cancer fucking sucks. I still wonder why people get so riled up, so quickly. Well, I really don't wonder why...
January 17th, 2021 at 9:19 AM ^
The same reason why people get super pissed at the asshole who cut them off getting onto the highway, because they assume he is doing it for no reason other than to show off his dick and be an asshole, rather than give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe his wife is in labor or his mother is on her death bed. And yes I'm a major hypocrite for saying that.
January 17th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Am I missing something here? Isn’t the fume’s response related to xtra’s attack on Jon06, not xtra”s original post where he was as you stated “expressing his worries”?
January 17th, 2021 at 9:51 AM ^
Nevermind - misinterpreted Fume’s post
January 22nd, 2021 at 9:21 PM ^
"Normal folks" don't pretend to have been lawyers while not knowing the basic definitions of legal terms in the states where they pretend to have practiced law, xtra.
January 16th, 2021 at 9:21 PM ^
Yeah, we’d all be much better off if people who actually know what they’re talking about defer to people who don’t. Sound logic there
January 16th, 2021 at 11:20 PM ^
I'm glad to hear this. Let's hope it's something benign. After all the crap he's put up with relating to his feet, Caris is due for some good luck.
January 17th, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
Thanks for posting this. I was afraid to research it after reading some of the earlier posts. I saw Caris at a football game once, and (yes I'm "that guy") begged him for a pic. I'm not even on social media, just wanted to impress my wife and kid. He could not have been nicer or more engaged. Wish he hadn't called me "sir" but he was right/I'm old af.
Spoke to a few friends in Indy they view him as a younger Oladipo without the sense of entitlement. What a blessing this trade happened which led to the physical that hopefully caught this early. Prayers to Caris and his family.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:28 PM ^
Physician here. Angiomyolipomas and hemorrhagic renal cysts are benign lesion that can mimic suspicious masses on imaging.
With additional testing including a possible biopsy, they'll figure out what it is. It's unlikely but not impossible for someone of caris's age to have a malignant kidney mass.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:35 PM ^
Excellent. Thank you.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:42 PM ^
Nephrogenic Carcinoma is possible but curable, usually found with bloody urine ( hematuria ) when they are large. If found small simple excision possible.
January 16th, 2021 at 8:07 PM ^
I was going to chime in and say that my Boxer Winston Churchill has had a benign mass on his kidney for a good three years, and it hasn't caused him any problems.
But your info is much more useful.
January 17th, 2021 at 9:11 AM ^
There's a lot of fancy words in here, fancy medical words, so it must be true! But then, he failed to capitalize 'Caris', so it might be fake news. I'm so confused!!!
(BTW - thanks for the good news and real (virtual) diagnosis explanations...)
January 16th, 2021 at 8:09 PM ^
Finally something I’m actually knowledgeable about here. I’m an interventional radiologist. This could be bad, or could be sorta bad as an AML or other benign mass that still requires treatment. Could be a complex cyst. Would need specific MRI sequences to start to differentiate them. Renal cell carcinomas do not need to be biopsied if they have meet certain criteria. If the lesion is small enough and not invading other structures they can be treated percutaneously with surprisingly few side effects even for a top flight athlete. AMLs can also be treated quite easily without “surgery.” Time will tell hope it’s nothing too bad.
January 16th, 2021 at 9:25 PM ^
I am a radiologist and have seen thousands of renal masses on MRI, ultrasound, and CT, and have to second what you have written.
January 16th, 2021 at 11:01 PM ^
Actually Kidney cyst are quite common. Usually they're not large and are benign. Hopefully it is not Kidney cancer but one can survive normally on one kidney.
January 16th, 2021 at 6:56 PM ^
The Pacers knew about this PRIOR to finalizing the trade; says a lot about their organization that they still went through with the trade.
Hoping Caris has a speedy and quality recovery.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:02 PM ^
Goddamn. Hope he’s okay.
January 16th, 2021 at 7:15 PM ^
Prayers! Prayers! Prayers!
January 16th, 2021 at 7:24 PM ^
Yeah, hopefully it's benign and he's able to come back with no lingering issues. Has to be scary
January 16th, 2021 at 9:13 PM ^
Oh no so sorry to here that! Get well Caris! God I hope all will be well. Prayers to you!
January 17th, 2021 at 9:14 AM ^
In all the fuss over my heart, they found a small mass on one lung, in my case. Quite small, in fact, and as we know now, quite benign, but even the discovery of such a thing can have you spinning some rather dark thoughts about your future in your head until you get those results that tell you that it will be OK. I don't wish the temporary uncertainty on anyone, let alone the discovery. I certainly hope all turns out to be well for Caris.
