I was in the car with a friend, turned the game on in the 6th inning, heard he had a no-hitter going and promptly drove to a bar to watch the rest of the game.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Chris Evans as most pleasant surprise||
Shocked his name was not mentioned. In his recruiting profile it notes that he was recruited as a db or slot and the projection was that he would redshirt. In the post spring 27 tickets, two true freshman running backs (Kareem Walker and Kinston Davis) were mentioned but there was no mention of Evans.
Halfway through the season, he is the leading rusher on the team in terms of total yards, is second in yards per rush and longest rush to Peppers and has accomplished all of that while only being third on the team in carries.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Was there ever a chamce Cole wouldn't play?||
i agree with the best of Kugler/Newsome, but for Cole, the only question was where would he play, not if he would play.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||California does have a few other challenges||
The biggest probably being lack of water. In general, when factoring mother name into decisions on where to live, having water should rank pretty high.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||The old, "it's everyone elses fault"||
You chose to respond to "everyone else", who decided to take it to a whole different level. Didn't you make the choice to keep responding?
Further, you claim to be a pretty smart guy, can't you figure out for yourself why it might not be quite as as easy for everyone to leave as you suggest?
People don't have money
People have disaster resposibilities - fire, police, medical, national guard, power company and more
People have physical challenges - old etc.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Maybe they don't have a car?||
Some people aren't fortunate enough to have a vehicle to pack their supplies in
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Because unfortunately not everyone has $400||
There are plenty of people living paycheck to paycheck who don't have the option of just spending $400 to get a hotel.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Likewise||
I love a good argument - I suspect that an evening of beer drinking with you would be very interesting.
Some parts would be interesting and respectful debate, some parts would royally piss both of us off and some parts would probably make each us go back and re-think some things.
It"s also awfully hard not to respect someone who took the time to reply to a post poking fun at them.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||I can upvote you||
When you are sounding so much more reasonable.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Reread the two exaples I am responding too||
"There is definitely wiggle room there for the cyclist to do everything they feel necessary to be safe. If I'm in a road that has two lanes in my direction, i will ride with enough distance from the curb that my only safe option will never be to swerve left, which usually requires 3 feet or so. But if someone passes me within striking distance, I will take up enough of the lane that future passers have to acknowledge my existence, usually right in the middle. If drivers are being more aggressive, I feel it is even more important to use aggressive lane positioning to protect myself from them and increase my visibility. If I'm going 25 in a 35, and someone misjudges the distance or just doesn't me, any hit would likely be fatal."
Aggressive lane positioning to prevent passing is not the same as "riding as far to the right as practicable"
'I don't know about that. I've found that the closer to the center of the lane I ride, the more room they give when passing. It also mitigates the distracted driver problem by causing a slow line of cars for them to get caught in"
Driving closer to the center of the lane is not "riding as far to the right as practicable".
|4 weeks 6 days ago||None of these points suggest||
That bikes and cars can't coexist. I haven't seen anyone in this forum who is supporting cyclists rights suggesting that we get rid of cars and trucks, we are just suggesting that if people driving the two tons of steel had more respect for cyclists there would be less problems. You on the other hand have advocated the extreme, no bikes on roads position
|4 weeks 6 days ago||If I misinterpreted your original postings||
And they did not come from a place of dislike for cyclists on roads but were merely an expression of love, respect and caring for all people, regardless of the number of wheels on the vehicle they use and the source of power of that vehicle, I am sorry.
If it is only because I so insensitively suggested that contrary to the true feelings within your heart, you were a complete ass with regards to your attitude towards cyclists, I apologize.
And finally, if I through my actions have transformed a man who used to be able to peacefully coexist with all men, no matter the number of wheels on the vehicles in their garages, to a man who now has no choice but to believe thar we should, "fuck bicycle riders", I am sorry not only to you, but to any cyclist subject to the rage that I have caused.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||The car isn't the problem||
The driver is. Cars and bikes can co-exist on roads when both parties obey the rules and common courtesy. If you don't want to share the road with a biker, stop driving. By your logic we should also ban walking, because the pedestrian is also likely to come up on the short end of the stick if they are hit by scar crossing the street. If drivers, cyclists and pedestrians all obeyed the lpublic statutes, the laws of physics would be much less if a problem.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Well said||
I think we can all agree that there are plenty of jackasses.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||And you ask||
Why I think you are an ass towards cyclists?
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Not sure what that has to do with who is at fault||
In a bike vs car accident? Maybe a counterpoint to someone elses post about bicycle apparel?
|4 weeks 6 days ago||In my opinion||
Your opinion that roads should be the sole jurisdiction of cars and that bikes should not be allowed on them qualifies as being an ass towards cyclists. You are more than entitled to have that opinion, just as I am entitled to my opinion of it.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Generally causing a slow lane of traffic||
Is impeding traffic which is in fact illegal.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Speaking of generalizations||
Mister, I'm gonna throw out some made up statistic to back up my argument. My quick google search suggests that the info is nowhere near as clearcut as you suggest on who is likely to be at fault.
http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2011/05/20/136462246/when-bikes.... In 3 of 4 studies cited in this article, drivers were more likely to be at fault.
Also, you don't help your case when you assert something is illegal that is not. Michigan Vehicle Code 257.660(b)
'Two or more individuals operating bicycles upon a highway or street shall not ride more than 2 abreast except upon a path or portion of the highway or street set aside for the use of bicycles."
|4 weeks 6 days ago||I think you are being awfully liberal in your reading the law||
While generally Mad Hatter seems to be a complete ass in his attitude towards cyclists, the intent of the law is pretty clear that you should be riding closer to the right side of the road. It is that kind of aggressive riding that makes drivers angry at the rest of us who are trying to obey the law.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Out of curiosity||
Are you one of those asshats in a car who rolls down his window and curses at a biker who is riding legally, drives through crosswalks at stopsigns when pedestrians are crossing, either sits right behind a biker for minutes when they could easily pass or alternatively passes them providing as little room as they possibly can or the myriad of other things shitty drivers often do to cyclists and pedestrians?
|4 weeks 6 days ago||many bikers||
Also pay vehicle registration fees and gas taxes. Most local roads are maintained using property taxes.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Maybe the person in the two ton box of steel||
Should drive better. Having been hit while walking by a driver pulling out of a parking garage and having hit a car (on a bike) that was pulling out of a parking garage, not to mention numerous instances of almost being hit by cars while in the cross walk, the generalizations about bikers not following the law are at lesst as applicable to drivers.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||Bredeson and playing for October and beyond||
I wonder if Harbaugh and Drevno think Bredeson has more very short term upside. It seems like He was in a battle for the left tackle spot until very late in preseason camp. While he was probably spending some time at left guard, I suspect he was likely more focused on left tackle. While I think there was a presumption that Bredeson competing at left tackle was both a worry about Newsome and a credit to Bredeson, Early returns from Newsome suggest it may have had much more to do with how good Bredenson is rather than a knock on Newsome.
Harbaugh and Drevno may be thinking that if he is solely focused on left guard, he may have a quick learning curve and they are expecting rapid improvement. Maybe they have thoughts that he can be better than either Braden or Kugler later this season.
I think this is also consistent with Bushell-Beatty getting all of the snaps at left tackle and Kugler getting none at left guard against UCF. I think the coaches are assuming that by Wisconsin, Braden will be back to late season form and Bredenson will be continuing to improve with the hope that Bredenson can be the clear stater by later in the season. With two games before Wisconsin, I think this is a risk woth taking.
If Braden does not look better against Colorado, maybe they re-evaluate but stll have the Penn State game to get Kugler some left guard snaps if need be.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Wonder if feeling better about the current team factors in too||
We"ve heard that they might take up to 7 next year. That is a huge offensive line haul. If you are starting to feel better about Newsome at LT, feel good about Ulzio at RT, feel BushellBeatty is at least a solid backup (I found it interesting, that at least based on the player participation list, he is the only guy except for Newsome that played any LT) and feel that Bredenson can also play LT in a pinch, then maybe you don"t feel as compelled to take 7 next year.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||We were already divided||
I don"t think CK has created new divisions so much as exposed existing ones
|8 weeks 2 days ago||It has raised my awareness||
I am probably in the minority, but the stir (granted more caused by the Harbaugh connection) has made me delve deeper into the issues.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||Thanks for your service||
And your sentiments. The best post I have seen in this thread

I suspect they would ask. Since they didn"t, it seems like a much less likely question.
