What happens if we lose tonight?
I’ve been thinking that this is a real possibility based on how we’ve looked so far. Is anyone else actually nervous about losing to Rutgers? Or is this game a guaranteed W?
Also, what do you think happens if we lose? I think if we lose tonight it cements Harbaughs fate and also guarantees that I won’t watch another game this year. What about you?

Team walks home !? Coaching search intensives!

I’d like to thank the OP for another thought provoking post. We haven’t had enough of these the past 3 weeks.
November 21st, 2020 at 3:30 PM ^
I would also posit that the sun will rise in the east tomorrow morning. Life will go on.
November 21st, 2020 at 7:01 PM ^
We are a poor, nearing awful football team, but we are not going to lose tonight. We should cover the early week spread of 8.5, beyond that, who know? However we will win the game.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:14 PM ^
Nothing of note will happen, as evidenced by a loss being legitimately on the table and nothing happening so far.
November 21st, 2020 at 6:48 PM ^
The yard will have officially been fenced by New Jersey.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:15 PM ^
There will be more ridiculous threads about feels and hot takes.

Status of Paye, Mayfield, and Hayes?
November 21st, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
Would you play if you were them?
November 21st, 2020 at 3:02 PM ^
Yeah! That's the kind of attitude this blog needs! Starting with me; I was going to add something suckworthy to the list of suckworthiness...
November 21st, 2020 at 2:28 PM ^
Paye didn’t practice through Weds for sure. Very unlikely to play. Mayfield and Hayes??? Jeez, not the news expected earlier today. Carpenter starts at Center. McNamara will play no matter how the game is going. He is getting a look tonight. TE is a mess. Probably All first and less Eubanks. Corum/Haskins 1-2. Should see a shake up at LB.
November 21st, 2020 at 2:31 PM ^
What did Charbonnet do to Harbaugh that he refuses to let him play?
November 21st, 2020 at 2:54 PM ^
Made fun of his boner mask.
November 21st, 2020 at 3:02 PM ^
You can’t pick your boogers this way.
November 21st, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
Cade should be given his chance to start and see what he can do or that's a issue!
November 21st, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
Can UM lose: well, obviously.
Will they? Maybe.
If they do, the Fire Harbs train will be full steam ahead.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:57 PM ^
As if the last 3 weeks weren’t enough? Have you seen MSU play after their Super Bowl? How the hell Michigan lost that one is mind bog....oh nvm, Harbaugh.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
Drinking happens. Then some will be glad because they think it means Harbaugh will not return. To me, it will just be a sad loss and step in continued decline.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
Who cares. I’m watching OSU look like an NFL team. Each year Harbaugh has us further and further away from competing against them.
If we lose to Rutgers it just tells us what we know, Michigan is in shambles and Harbaugh can’t prepare his team properly. If we win, chalk up another meaningless win for JH.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:39 PM ^
One could contend that this is the biggest game in Coach Harbaugh's tenure at UM. With that said, a win is far from meaningless.
November 21st, 2020 at 1:17 PM ^
If this game (win or lose) changes anyone’s perception (for better or worse) that’s probably the strongest indictment of the program.
It’s Rutgers. You play it because it’s on the schedule. Winning it isn’t a sign of improvement, losing it just provides a reminder of what we’ve already seen.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:49 PM ^
After that first drive they haven't done much besides fields throwing 2 picks. Still the first quarter but this is by far the worst osu has looked this season with about 2 mins left in the first.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:54 PM ^
Looking like an NFL team turning it over every drive?
November 21st, 2020 at 12:57 PM ^
My comment was after their first drive.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
He didn't say a GOOD NFL team.
November 21st, 2020 at 1:25 PM ^
So the game only means something if it is a loss. Great.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:17 PM ^
Pain, agony and sadness
November 21st, 2020 at 12:17 PM ^
This is the first year in a long time I've been completely numb to Michigan losses. I actually couldn't care less if OSU beats us. Usually I am nervous for The Game but I just have checked out mentally. I still tune in but after the MSU loss I'm not letting it ruin my weekend. The expectations thereafter have just plummeted. So if it happens, well it's sad but not unexpected given the circumstances.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:22 PM ^
It has become easy to not care when OSU beats us. We have no chance. This year especially. With Harbaugh’s actions pissing Day off at B10 media day, you can rest assured Day is gonna try and drop 100 on us.
November 21st, 2020 at 6:37 PM ^
Day should keep it close in order to convince Warde to keep JH.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:28 PM ^
What will the spread be for that game? Seriously? They’re favored by 20 over IU. 30? 35?
November 21st, 2020 at 12:50 PM ^
If Vegas was smart they wouldn’t let anyone bet on this game. Free money for OSU whatever the spread is.
November 21st, 2020 at 1:33 PM ^
Yep. And as a Michigan fan, don’t bet it against us because, inevitably, we’ll somehow cover the 41 point spread with a window dressing TD with OSUs 3rd string in the game.
November 21st, 2020 at 1:29 PM ^
35 pt line i would take osu without hesitation
November 21st, 2020 at 12:18 PM ^
If they lose I’ll just laugh quietly to myself. If they win, I’ll be happy for the players, but still feel the same about the coaching staff.
There was a point where losses were soul crushers for the day or even the weekend, but since 2008 (and honestly, 2007), it’s become something I’m numb to. Let’s be honest, outside of 2016, it’s not like losses mattered to the team’s hopes of winning a championship.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:18 PM ^
If we lose, the MGoBoard will have version 20.4 of bedlam.
I'd rather start drinking and go to bed than have to deal with the aftermath.

November 21st, 2020 at 12:19 PM ^
What happens?
This site crashes a couple times over the course of the evening from all the bitching. Fans are pissed off. Everyone's weekend gets shot to hell....and then we do it all over again next week.
That's all.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:20 PM ^
We have 4 losses instead of 3.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:20 PM ^
What happens? We are 1-4 is what happens and we fill up the board with what if's. I just want 2020 to die.
Go Blue!!
November 21st, 2020 at 12:21 PM ^
If they lose, it will be the point of no return, meaning they could lose out.
This is surely NOT a guaranteed win. I give us a 50/50 chance of winning, tonight.
I am a loyal Michigan fan so I'll watch but probably not the whole 60 min of football if the Maize and Blue are getting blown out. Any more blowouts WILL seal the fate of Jim Harbaugh.
It's do or die time for this football team.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:38 PM ^
No, it won’t. Your hope doesn’t equal to reality.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:50 PM ^
Every single game is a 50/50 chance of winning or losing. Come on....
November 21st, 2020 at 12:21 PM ^
Rutgers should be favored in this game imo. I'm not nervous that we're going to lose. I expect it. Nothing. Losing to Rutgers is no worse than losing to Wisconsin 49-11. Or getting pantsed by Indiana. Or getting beat by MSU.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:23 PM ^
Nothing....program sucks anyways.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
A loss is catastrophic and not something this staff can come back from.
Even if we win 50-0 (which we won’t) everyone will say it was just Rutger. So there’s really no winning if you’re the team or staff.
November 21st, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
The sun still comes up tomorrow. We will wake up tomorrow morning and remember that it’s just a game, and then just move on with our day. At least that’s what I’m going to do.
At this point, I really don’t care. I don’t really care about the fact that Rutgers could legitimately be better than Michigan, or that OSU is probably going to beat us by at least 60 in a few weeks. At least. Their football team being really good and ours being really bad doesn’t make their fan’s lives any better than mine. They all still have to wake up and deal with the same shit as everyone else. Go to work, pay their bills, file their taxes, lament over politics, etc.
Football, to me, is all just entertainment at the end of the day. I hope Michigan does well, but I’m not gonna lose sleep over it if they don’t. I’m not the one out there playing or coaching, so I don’t have to answer to anyone for anything the football team does wrong or poorly.
