10+ plus Wisky Players Out
Several reports indicating Wisky will have more than 10 players out tomorrow. Will it matter? Mertz is still listed as QB1, but that could be disinformation. Wisky still has a strong run/pass game. Can Michigan keep pace? We are small up front on defense and the OL is far from being settled. Lots of young guys getting a shot tomorrow. Recipe for disaster?
November 13th, 2020 at 10:26 PM ^
If true, and if they’re starters, considering our outages it sounds like maybe we have an even match on our hands
November 13th, 2020 at 10:37 PM ^
If they have 10+ starter out, they're in serious trouble. I'm sure it's more like 3-4 and that they'll be fine. Michigan has more than that many starters out with injuries.
November 14th, 2020 at 7:44 AM ^
So you’re saying there’s a chance!?
November 14th, 2020 at 8:28 AM ^
Not if Harbaugh's gonna lean on offensive play calling.
November 13th, 2020 at 10:27 PM ^
Well, we have at least 6 out that either are injured or elected not to play so i don't think it makes that much of a difference. All 6 of ours would've been starters and in crucial spots.
November 13th, 2020 at 10:40 PM ^
And it's literally all of our top players. Hutch, Kwity, Nico, Ambry, and Mayfield were supposed to be our best players this year.
November 13th, 2020 at 11:42 PM ^
Nico and ambry aren’t out, they quit the team. I’m not saying that they didn’t do it for good reason, but they aren’t on the team
November 14th, 2020 at 9:02 AM ^
“Quit”
and
“Chose to pursue their passion where they could be compensated commensurate with their level of talent”
Are two different things. Do I wish they were playing for U of M this year? Hell yeah, but both of these fine young men made a business decision...and probably a health decision, in Ambry’s case.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:26 AM ^
I can’t give Harbaugh plaudits for being a “player’s coach” and then criticize him for his team’s poor performance because the top players quit on the team to protect their future value and valuable depth transfers to seek playing time. That would be hypocritical of me.
November 14th, 2020 at 12:34 PM ^
Plaudit is a new word for me. Thank you
November 14th, 2020 at 11:32 AM ^
No, that is still "quitting". The justification for the action does not change the action itself.
November 13th, 2020 at 10:50 PM ^
I don't think it matters who starts at QB for Wisconsin. All Wisconsin has to do is use their always sturdy and massive o-line to bully our d-line and run the ball. They'll just tire our defense out and I doubt we will have the ball much unfortunately. Michigan can't afford to have another week of 3rd and longs and short drives if they go with this game plan. Unfortunately the "make Milton pass" blueprint has been firmly established.
November 14th, 2020 at 11:08 AM ^
a) If some of those missing starters include offensive linemen, then that could be a problem.
b) This is Wisconsin's worst running back room going back to at least 2015, when Corey Clement missed a bunch of time. But if you include Clement, it goes back at least a dozen years or so.
November 14th, 2020 at 3:06 PM ^
Their backup O linemen start at UM.
November 13th, 2020 at 10:51 PM ^
Time for eight man football.
November 13th, 2020 at 10:52 PM ^
This season is a scrimmage, just accept it.
November 14th, 2020 at 10:08 AM ^
6-8 exhibition games for Michigan to reboot for 2021....?
November 14th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
Yep - do not take this year seriously. Just be glad the guys get to play and we have some football to watch.
November 13th, 2020 at 10:56 PM ^
Im sure they carve through us like a hot knife through butter.
November 13th, 2020 at 10:59 PM ^
What's the percentage of the roster that needs to have covid for the game to be canceled? 10+ is a lot and I'm pretty worried that they might give us an outbreak
November 14th, 2020 at 9:01 AM ^
The percentage is based on testing for that week alone. The guys Wisconsin has out are guys that tested positive 2-3 weeks ago. So as long as their tests for THIS week are below the threshold, the game can go on.
November 13th, 2020 at 11:00 PM ^
Life sucks, everything sucks, we're doomed....how will we survive.
I guess we're just 2020'd.
November 13th, 2020 at 11:02 PM ^
New Mexico and Oregon are shelter-in-place once again. It’s fucking appalling that they’re still playing these games. Shut this shit down.
November 13th, 2020 at 11:52 PM ^
Albion is sending everyone home. They all have to be gone by tomorrow at noon. Someone I know has a kid going there and they have to leave even if they are covid positive or showing signs of symptoms. I'm unsure of whats going on with colleges around the state. Rumor has it the state of Michigan is headed towards a shutdown, possibly by Monday. Unsure if its a legit rumor, but it feels like thats where we're headed. Its really starting to hit the older folks where I live now. A friend of my kids' grandfather passed from it today and I know of another thats having a hard time with it thats not looking good.
I hope parents with seniors in high school playing sports are telling them to enjoy/embrace every snap or play. Each game they make it to at this point is the cherry on top of the cherry. It doesn't seem like its going to go on much longer with the way things are going. Schools seem like they're headed for all virtual until an extended xmas break. Hopefully the seniors who play winter and spring sports can get some games in.
November 14th, 2020 at 12:40 AM ^
My oldest son goes to CMU and they are wrapping up their semester next week. They started 2 weeks earlier than normal to be able to do this. They are not suppose to go back to school until the 3rd week in January. Right now, I give that about a 30% chance of happening and dropping each week.....
November 14th, 2020 at 6:58 AM ^
No evidence that lockdowns work. And much of the transmission now is from private/organized gatherings- not going to your local restaurant, cafe, etc.
November 14th, 2020 at 7:47 AM ^
"No evidence that lockdowns work."
Fine. What, exactly, should we do with virus numbers going up and some hospitals -- at least temporarily -- reaching capacity. "Open her up?"
I'm sure many cases can be traced to private gatherings. Does that mean we should go Scott Atlas and remove all restrictions?
As always, the economic effect of lockdowns is the elephant in the room. Severe, yes. But (again), what exactly should we do? Don't bitch unless you have a detailed answer.
November 14th, 2020 at 8:55 AM ^
No evidence lockdowns work? Stopped reading there.
November 14th, 2020 at 9:13 AM ^
there’s definitely evidence lockdowns work. You’re eliminating points of contact at places like restaurants and schools. You limit points of contact, you limit exposure. You limit exposure, you limit cases. Period. Kids not going to school means they won’t be passing it to each other and taking it home to parents and grandparents who then take it to work, etc.
Now, the question that can be asked and debated is whether the shutdown and its negative effects on education, mental health, and the economy outweigh the effects of the virus on the population itself. But to say that shutdowns have no proof of being effective is pretty silly.
Is it 100% effective? No, but nothing is. But that doesn’t mean steps shouldn’t be taken to address an issue simply because it isn’t 100% effective.
November 14th, 2020 at 12:56 AM ^
Good grief, chill out dude! We had 3 games already played safely tonight and 34 more scheduled for tomorrow. Should I list all the High School football and other sports safely playing?! This was always going to be a special year, no need to cut and run in the middle of the season (although that might save UM any further embarrassment)
November 14th, 2020 at 9:34 AM ^
And here in Michigan we had at least 6 third round playoff games cancelled due to covid last night with quite a few games yet to be played this afternoon and evening.
There's one school that, due to forfeited games, won their district by winning 1 game over 3 weeks. Thru the first 3 rounds, there's even been a few undefeated teams that were forced to forfeit, this ending their seasons.
So yes, high schools are trying to work their way thru it, but this season's HS football playoffs has been as much a game of dodging covid 'land mines' as it has been of dodging tacklers.
November 14th, 2020 at 6:55 AM ^
What makes New Mexico and Oregon right?
November 13th, 2020 at 11:07 PM ^
Explains why the line is where it's at. I'm probably still going to hedge and put a hundo on Wisconsin. Might as well profit off my misery.

What site do you bet through? I’m in California and have never done it
November 14th, 2020 at 12:00 AM ^
In California you might have to use something like Bovada. It's easy to do with bitcoin or a VISA. That's what I used before DraftKings was made legal in IN.
November 14th, 2020 at 12:05 AM ^
Bovada stole my money. They had customer service that would not assist in recovering a lost account. Not trustworthy.
November 14th, 2020 at 12:15 AM ^
I've used Bovada and Betonline. Bitcoin is the way to go. Easiest to get a payout. I pretty much use Bovada because the offer 1st quarter team totals. I've been off on full game outcomes this year, but 1st quarter team totals have been pretty good to me.
November 13th, 2020 at 11:21 PM ^
At this point, it's impossible for me to by anything worse than disappointed by the outcome of this game, with or without these 10 Wisconsin players being able to suit up. My expectations are so low, they're next to friggin' dinosaur bones. I hate that I'll still end up watching the game as I am terribly busy tomorrow and already have a new Saturday hobby to fill the rest of this season (and probably beyond). Why can't I stop subjecting myself to this?
November 13th, 2020 at 11:24 PM ^
I’ll bite. What’s the new saturday hobby?
November 14th, 2020 at 7:03 AM ^
Welcome to the family, First Gen! You can't stop because you care; you want to take pride in it even though it hurts. You won't stop... But don't fret too much, give it a few years and the dong punches will become just another thing in your life. It's actually worse than being a Lions fan - you know Michigan is supposed to be good, so it really sucks when they're not.
With the Lions, you just know they suck and watch more out of a morbid curiosity than actual hope...
So welcome! Unpack your bags and stay a while!
November 13th, 2020 at 11:26 PM ^
My excitement level is the lowest since RR first season and Hoke's last season. Oh well, at least it is a night game, so I won't waste a day watching this game.
November 14th, 2020 at 7:08 AM ^
Yes. MSU was shocking; IU ended future hope. I'm convinced now that the offense will never completely modernize under Harbaugh. I do believe he really tried to get it going, but he always reverts to 1990's ball control. Always. Too many different OC's, schemes, and player type recruiting changes to bring it back on the OC's or players. One common denominator.
I still love Harbaugh, and I firmly believe his (and the entire Harbaugh family's) Michigan legacy is secure and that he'll always be welcomed back to the Big House. But his time as head coach needs to end.
November 14th, 2020 at 7:31 AM ^
Unfortunately I agree, no one can tell me that gattis called the minnesota game with all the unique plays and screens etc, then we rolled out the dogshit playcalling against msu and Indiana under gattis?
It literally just does not add up to making sense at all. Harbaugh is the only constant.
The sad thing is last year we used so many screens etc against msu and killed them. This year we did nothing.

This season is a clown car
November 14th, 2020 at 7:54 AM ^
Have you seen how many clowns come out of those things? If this season really was a clown car I’m sure we could pull a few DTs and CBs out of it.
November 14th, 2020 at 12:48 PM ^
Unfortunately, it's a socially distanced clown car. So, no DT or CB made it in.
November 14th, 2020 at 12:09 AM ^
So either our depleted squad beats their depleted squad for a win that means nothing and few will care about. Or it ends in a loss that will just make many of us feel worse about the season because we can’t even beat a COVID ravaged UW team that has been shut down for the better part of 3 weeks.
Go, fight, win!
