Isaiah Todd says he is coming to UM in an instagram comment
We have all been optimistic here for a while but this is the first time I've seen it confirmed by Isaiah himself. Check out the comments in one of his instagram posts. Hopefully Josh Christopher is next.
No idea if the screenshot I tried to attach will work but let's hope for the best. Link below.

Awesome news! This team is shaping up to be an NCAA contender. Josh Christopher can be the cherry on top. His game is fun to watch and he really fits the last real need. He can score from anywhere and work with the ball in his hands. I can’t wait to watch this team.
Picture this if j. Christopher joined the class. And then all of them stayed 2 years like the fab 5. And then, you have Franz stay for his junior year. And you bring in another top 5 class for freshman. Man. This quarantine got me all fucked up dreaming.
Sounds great, but there's about 0% chance that happens. Remember back then barely any freshman started. Having a whole team of them was crazy. May as well stick to fantasizing about next year, which should still be awesome. With Josh Christopher, minimal transfers, and Howard seemingly a good coach, it's hard to imagine them NOT being a top 5 team next year.
There are a lot of moving parts still in play with this team. I remain very optimistic. If Livers and Wagner return and Todd and Christopher do in fact come...the sky is the limit here. In general, everything is pointing up.

Yes - IF all four of those things happen, we will be unstoppable. Personally, I have a hard time seeing all of them happening, maybe because it just never works out that way. That said, all of those things are very likely independent of each other, so it's definitely possible. If we have 3 of those four next year (and healthy) we'll be a top 5 team I think.
Get a great class of one and done's and then the season never happens, this is how it must be for Michigan fans.
This would be the most Michigan thing ever. Livers is ready to play his senior season. Add year two of Franz and an awesome recruiting class but the season gets canceled.
Can we sacrifice the football OSU annual ass beating instead? Take a decade of those and we will call it even.
Pray the coronavirus doesn't mutate and herd immunity occurs. Oh, and we actually get testing and tracing.
Yes, it would have been great if the medical system was scaled for such a situation. Guess the goverment learned nothing from or had other priorities after N1H1. Dont ever see this being the case going forward.
The government response to N1H1 was horrible. We had 1000 dead Americans and 20,000 infected before we even declared a health emergency. This response has been drastically different. I'm amazed how many people think you just plop down a building like it's the next Dollar General and poof, you've got medical coverage for everyone. I mean China built a hospital in a couple weeks, why can't we just have them sitting waiting for this to happen?
The H1N1 response was far better than this cluster fuck has been. You should actually learn about news from unbiased sources - like this.
Well, in fairness, the China hospital kinda collapsed and killed a lot of people.

This is wrong. Obama declared a health emergency for H1N1 on April 26th 2009. At the time there were roughly 20 cases and no one had died.
https://apnews.com/afs:Content:8603491796
Literally the next day we had approved antivirals and an approved test and in one month’s time, over a million people got tested
Was there something about the H1N1 testing that would allow for such a fast turn around vs. this? Is covid being a "novel" virus make it more difficult? I'm only asking because, worldwide, I don't think we've had 1,000,000 tests completed for Covid 19 but for H1N1 the US was able to do it in 30 days...that seems odd.
March 25th, 2020 at 10:07 AM ^
You don’t know what you’re talking about. It was declared a PH emergency before a person died. I’m in Public Health, we had clear direction.

Clue #1: "N1H1"

Then sit down and think about your actions. And your thought process. And where you get your "news".

I find it really hard to believe that they would cancel the upcoming season. There is just too much money to be lost by the NCAA. Anything short of the Kung flu taking out an entire team the NCAA is going to fill those stadiums and roll the ball out on to the court. Michigan can have nice things and the team that coach Howard is building is shaping up to be special. I have to believe that those who stay will be champions does not apply in this situation as one and done may be enough to live that dream with the caliber of players that are committed/committing. Let’s keep the faith and get ready for an amazing season!! Stay quarantined if you can so we can get through this as quickly as possible.
Go Blue!!
I don't think next season will be canceled, but how can you claim there's too much money to be lost? They just canceled the whole tournament. That's easily the most lucrative part of the whole season. Not to mention the decision may not be in their hands.
It is so helpful when the bigots self-identify for us.
and so too the snowflakes....
Thanks

You know it's hilarious to me when our piece of crap President's supporters throw around the word snowflake when he is literally the biggest snowflake around and acts like a man baby anytime someone doesn't kiss his ass or calls him out on his bullshit. Him and his supporters are pathetic.
March 25th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
The piece of crap president left office in January 2017. The successful president that has lead the best economy in history is currently in office, and he is doing everything he can to lead the country through this, with a great team in place.
He’s objectively not doing “everything he can”. If you like how he’s handled it, that’s one thing, but he is not using all the tools at his disposal
"Both the new coronavirus and SARS outbreaks likely started in Chinese wet markets."
https://www.businessinsider.com/wuhan-coronavirus-chinese-wet-market-photos-2020-1
"A "wet market" in Wuhan, China, is catching the blame as the probable source of the current coronavirus outbreak that's sweeping the globe."
So that makes it okay to start using racial pejoratives with white nationalistic overtones? Because let's be real - that's exactly what "kung flu" and "chinese flu" and "China virus" are, despite what some in our political leadership would have you believe. Nothing overt yet, but the subtle passive-aggressive hostility is real and comments like that do nothing but cause greater division.
Source: Asian American and target of pandemic-related subtle passive-aggressive hostility.
andrew--isn't using the word "oriental" thought of to be, by some, a racial slur -in fact Obama banned the use of the word "oriental" in all federal documents because of that- also you do know what MERS stands for (Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome) - EBOLA was from the river in Africa where it originated - What about the Spanish Flu - Lime disease was from Lime, Conn -- Lighten up we have more important things to worry about than what we call a disease-- like our 2020 football recruiting.
GO BLUE

COVID-19/ Corona Virus already has a name. Making the choice to call it a "Chinese Virus" or worse "Kung Flu" is racists/xenophobic. You can't inject that into the conversation and not expect to be called on it. Crying about being called out is the ultimate snowflake. If you're going to be an intentional dick you should own it.

Whoa... easy princess you are getting your panties all in a bunch.... put your hair up in a bun, go get a Starbucks, go back to your mom's basement, put on Netflix, and relax....

It's a shame your three daughters have such an awful role model for a father.

Shame on you for bringing a person's family into what I considered a fun back-and-forth on a sports blog. Obviously, you know me, and you know I joke around a lot. Do me a favor -- don't come near me.

I actually deleted part of my previous post that was an aside because I thought it was off-topic/inappropriate, but your response makes it germane. I think the term snowflake is brilliant. It was supposedly invented by the alt-right on some 4chan, 8chan, 64chan message board to denote people who melt down with the slightest criticism. But it is so much more than that. It is the non-misogynistic replacement for the word pussy. As a teen, the word pussy was great. Everyone knew exactly what it meant; grow a pair and deal with it. But most people don't hate women or are at least cool enough to realize that anti-women slang isn't positive and helps no one. I'd like to thank the alt right for advancing political correctness.
Enjoy your melt down.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:48 PM ^
Brilliant. You've completely changed how I feel about that word.
March 25th, 2020 at 10:58 AM ^
Calling it the Wuhan Virus (what it was originally called) would be acceptable in my mind. Calling it "China Virus" is nothing more than a fucking dog whistle used by a terrible human being for purely political purposes.
Do better.
March 25th, 2020 at 11:19 AM ^
Lol, what about the Spanish Flu? It didn’t originate in Spain, so it kind of proves the opposite of what you think it does
March 25th, 2020 at 11:34 AM ^
1. It's used ironically. Some longtime mgoblog denizens will recognize this.
2. As someone else commented, the virus and disease have actual names. While Spanish flu is a common name, it only happened because of censorship of reports in partisan countries involved in WWI. That's bad, although it wasn't racially motivated (rather, a political wartime ploy). These terms absolutely play on particular marginalized demographics in this country.
3. What we call a disease is an indication of one's maturity and worldview. Perhaps you're not aware of the tone of the messaging, but it's clear and hurtful and insulting to many others. As Stephen R Kass suggested in the HIPAA/privacy thread, we like to think of ourselves as a community. The extent to which that's true is restricted by the anonymity of the internet, where there are fewer consequences for being laissez faire, at best, and outright prejudiced, at worst. Think before you type is a mantra we should all take to heart.
March 25th, 2020 at 10:57 AM ^
I'm not Asian, but I find "kung flu" offensive. "Chinese virus," less so, although that might depend upon context. There's no context where "kung flu" is unoffensive.
I do not think it means what you think it means.
coming to UM in an instagram comment
That would be an impressive feat it he could pull it off.
I wonder how much the COVID-19 situation is playing into some of these kids decisions. I would have to think that playing in Europe, especially Italy, is not an appealing thought.
Agreed. With international travel being outright banned in many places, I'd be very hesitant to commit to leaving the country in a couple months.
I wonder if there any players who had previously decided to play in Europe that are thinking about walking back that decision.
Additionally, Terrance Williams said on Instagram last night that their class had 6 members. When asked because there are currently only 5 (Zeb, Howard, Williams, Todd, and Dickinson), he said to "stay tuned."
March 25th, 2020 at 10:02 AM ^
Unsubstantiated and unfounded rumors from blind third parties on IG and Twitter are the best!
Welcome, Josh!!!
I'm not sure Terrance Williams counts as a "blind third party"
March 25th, 2020 at 10:43 AM ^
Josh Christopher, come on down!
Got to wonder, if you get that kind of class together, coupled with progressions from Livers, Davis, Brooks and Wagner (assuming Wagner and Livers don't declare), what this team could be next year. You're probably looking at a preseason top-5 team.
Either way, they're sure as shit going to be tested with having to go to London to play Kentucky, go on the road to play Oregon, a tourney against Baylor/Villanova/NC State, and then whoever they draw in the ACC/B1G Challenge. Likely a home game against a really good Louisville team.
