META: MGoStaff's antagonist twitter behavior
What is going in here, the official @Mgoblog account has tweet out that Ant Wright is a "petty, small motherfucker" for being critical of Ace's behaviour towards people on twitter
Ace is known for his being very active and his constant high horsevtowards those he interacts with, along with attacking people with slightly different views. Just today he has spent a ton of time blocking hundreds of people for following Ant Wright or oikinh any of his tweets. Including many of those who donated to his GoFundMe and never said a bad word to him, leaving a bad taste for those that supported him when he needed it.
Ace is now threatening a lawsuit against Ant Wright for cyberbullying because Ant has said his behaviour is uncalled for and he's being a dick
The entire MGOStaff needs to step away from the platform for the day, and evaluate how they should represent the blog in the future. Just not a good look for the business

Shut up. Nobody gives a shit. First amendment and boobs is all that matters. This falls under the former.
January 19th, 2020 at 5:32 PM ^
Aren’t you the one that also said you’re gonna get raptured because you got close to God?
now we discover that God really has boobs and a copy of the Constitution in his hands. Cool cool.

The MGoBlog Twitter account looks like what we claim to expect out of RCMB - not us.
January 19th, 2020 at 5:35 PM ^
Ok, like, whatever dude.
edit:
January 19th, 2020 at 5:35 PM ^
Ant calls Ace a grifter. Ant also says Yoder is someone worth listening to.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
Pretty sure Ant said CFS is a legit disorder. He just said Ace is using CFS as an excuse to be a dick to people who donated to him when he was going through it, which can also be accurate.
Don’t see the problem with that judging by what I’ve seen before Aces twitter went private.
Edit:
Nvm, Seth explained it all below. Secondly, people really showed their true colors today. Not a good look for Ant Wright even if he may have some valid critiques.
Thirdly, I just wanna post an MJ Popcorn gif down below bc MGrowOld just got fenestrated worse than when Wolverine Devotee did when he got caught red handed for being DISCUSS MAN.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
Ant very much backtracked to get to that. He definitely called out Ace for faking it earlier on today. And the fact that he willingly associates with Yoder is baffling. He’s largely a good follow for sure, but makes some questionable decisions.
I’m largely on team Ace, but threatening a lawsuit did seem like a bit much.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:21 PM ^
Whether Ace is a dick is irrelevant IMO. I’m merely pointing out that Ant does not have an intelligent or informed opinion on this if he thinks Ace is a grifter but Yoder is not
January 19th, 2020 at 8:26 PM ^
That’s the thing...Yoder literally has paperwork on him showing that he was conning ppl. So it is a little head-scratching to see Ant defend him, but call out Ace for it.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:25 PM ^
Literally the first two things Ant said were the following.
https://mobile.twitter.com/ItsAntWright/status/1218764995317633024
https://mobile.twitter.com/ItsAntWright/status/1218914337471025155
He called out Ace for being tired and then relying on people to pay for him and then being a dick to then afterwards. He then backtracked because people pointed out that CFS is real.
Ace isn't going to sue anyone. But it's funny how someone can insult you unprompted a couple of times and then you call him out and you're the one called soft. And as Brian noted, if you really have a problem with giving money to Ace he'll refund you. My guess is few people took him up on that.
I'm sure Ace is abrasive to some. Everyone is. But why it matters that he responded the way he did is beyond me. This site doesn't owe you anything, and it's weird that a bunch of people think it's their business for someone to stand up for his employee and friend.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:41 PM ^
First tweet is Wright saying Michigan Twitter knows a guy who started a GoFundMe so he could quit his day job. He's clearly being a dick in the context of the tweet, but that is essentially what happened (he needed to quit because of his illness being left out, again being a dick)
2nd tweet Wright says he "wasn't feeling well", and goes on to describe how he himself retweeted the GoFundMe as did others, Ace got the money, then he turned his back on a lot of those that helped. Again, being a dick because wasn't feeling well doesn't do justice to CFS.
But it sounds like Wright did help Ace originally, so supported the CFS GoFundMe, indicating he believes in it.
And did Ace turn his back on a lot of people who helped him, including Wright? If yes, let's not gloss over that. Enormous dick move that Ace would deserve derision from if that were the case. Would also explain Wright being a dick in the first place.
January 19th, 2020 at 8:10 PM ^
I really agree with your last paragraph. I follow ace on twitter and he spews his political views non-fucking-stop.
If you can dish it out but can’t take it then you probably Shouldn’t be on Twitter.
I hope some day they find a cure for whatever it is that ace is suffering from (cfs?). And I hope when they do he remembers how hard people WORKED for their money and how generous they were and pays it forward.
January 19th, 2020 at 8:32 PM ^
You just knocked it out of the park. It's baffling how they can run their mouths constantly in their echo chambers but once they get any push back it's block/mute/unfollow. Maybe spending most of one's days being outraged about everything and searching for people to hate and cancel isn't so good for one's health. Hmmmm.
January 19th, 2020 at 10:14 PM ^
it's the internet, everyones a hypocrite and everyones a glass cannon. Political views or not, Ace opened up about what he was going through and the internet has now turned it into an achilles heel for him. There is no winning.
But you throw your lot in with Yoder and I'm done with you.
January 20th, 2020 at 9:42 AM ^
These last two comments pretty much sum up my feelings on the matter. I do have some other thoughts that I'll just keep to myself.
The optics here should matter to Ace, but this isn't exactly a new thing.
January 19th, 2020 at 8:35 PM ^
I get it...but on his own personal twitter, what’s wrong with him saying what he feels politically, socially sports views and the like. That’s his platform, I’m shocked that ppl get upset at others on twitter for posting things like that. Not speaking about you specifically, but just unfollow the person and keep it moving. There are plenty of Michigan writers out there that might fit ones liking.
January 19th, 2020 at 8:40 PM ^
This.
We like "freedom of expression" except when it's not expression we like. Twitter is a giant pit of people expressing their opinions 24/7. That's all it is. Freedom to ignore also exists.
January 20th, 2020 at 4:21 PM ^
It's understandable to be annoyed by the rants of someone who's only appreciated for their writing contributions on a supposedly nonpolitical blog.
January 20th, 2020 at 8:06 AM ^
I don't think he was saying that Ace isn't allowed to speak his mind on Twitter, just that he blocks people nonstop and acts like he's better than people who disagree with him. I think that's a perfectly accurate take.
January 20th, 2020 at 1:07 PM ^
I will never understand why people care so much about being blocked. Especially by someone that they apparently don't care for. It's treated like it's a giant deal if you block someone on Twitter.
January 19th, 2020 at 8:49 PM ^
Okay, so in the first tweet he makes an unprompted, dickish comment about someone who, as you admitted, needed to stop working due to an illness.
The second tweet was equally dickish about him "not feeling well", which was of course in reference to the earlier tweet about someone who wanted to quit his job and get paid to do nothing. So in context he was making light of Ace's medical condition. But fine, accepting even that reading of it, it basically broke down to Ace and Wright having some issue (Wright has called Ace a jerk and questioned the severity of his illness in the past; this isn't the first time they've tussled over it).
I'm sure Ace isn't the easiest guy to be around; so is Wright, based on his Twitter feed. Nobody is, and social media magnifies those issues 10-fold. But Ace wasn't going after Wright, and for Wright to now cry victim because someone who didn't want to talk to him took issue with an unprompted attack is dumb. And most of the blocking was because Ace overreacted a bit and blocked anyone who followed Ant Wright; admittedly a number of people have liked Ant's various tweets directed at Ace so I can see a desire to not have to engage with people at this point. Also, it's Twitter - why anyone cares about who blocks who is weird to me. If you desperately need to see a tweet, just open the page when not logged in. And as Brian mentioned in a tweet, if you're now mad at Ace you can ask for a refund.
Again, I don't have a dog in this fight either way, but there's a lot of two-side-ism going on and on one side is someone clearly having beef with someone and questioning the severity of his illness and the other side is someone saying hey, that's a dick thing to say.
January 19th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
Fair enough.
It seems this all stems from unfinished business - Wright believing that Ace turned his back on those who helped him. And if that's the case, Ace is no babe in the woods innocently pleading why anyone would come at him. They both seem extremely petty from this exchange.
And the blocking thing - I don't think anyone really cares about what they can see or can't. I think what they're saying is it's extremely petty/pedantic to go through people's profiles, understand if that person followed Wright, then unfollow them. That's behavior I'd describe as immature. And most know that CFS doesn't mean a person is tired perpetually. But it can rankle some that he's said in the past he can't work, but is able to spend hours researching and unfollowing people.
It seems like all of this is a signal for both parties to take stock.
January 19th, 2020 at 9:30 PM ^
I think Ant was in the right at first but he took it too far eventually by basically saying “he was just tired” or whatever.
But then people like LG say he’s straight up faking and stealing people’s money ain’t right, either.
January 19th, 2020 at 10:44 PM ^
Ace got the money, then he turned his back on a lot of those that helped.
How did he turn his back? Did someone ask him for help and he said no? Or did they just disagree on Twitter about Michigan sports?
January 19th, 2020 at 9:38 PM ^
This is wrong. Ant called him a grifter first. That’s what provoked all of this, ant being a douche
January 19th, 2020 at 10:19 PM ^
After barely getting through the first page of this thread, I can confidently say that I am SO happy I don't waste my time following anyone on twitter.
January 19th, 2020 at 5:35 PM ^
Ace? The guy who conned hundreds of people I to giving him money and then coming back to work a year later?
January 19th, 2020 at 6:01 PM ^
There's a reason "CFS/ME/SEID" isn't considered a real, medically accepted condition. But hey, it's not my money.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:04 PM ^
But it is medically accepted...
January 19th, 2020 at 6:06 PM ^
Lol what?
CFS, Fibromyalgia etc are accepted conditions. We just don’t know what causes them and how to really go about treating it outside of supportive therapy with some cases of TCAs and CBT being helpful for those with said conditions.
Most likely etiology is autoimmune or autonomic hypersensitivity.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:11 PM ^
Depends on the medical professional you talk to. I know a few doctors who still aren't on board.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:16 PM ^
I know a few doctors who think all sorts of bullshit.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:28 PM ^
Yes and you can also learn about young earth creationism from "scientists".

Did they go to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College too?
January 19th, 2020 at 6:16 PM ^
It's depression with a fancy name for those that REALLY want a diagnosis. File it away with chronic lyme disease and chronic babesiosis.
But the name does get you $100,000 while depression gets you recommendations for a therapist.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:29 PM ^
Wait...you're claiming Lyme disease is made up now?
January 19th, 2020 at 7:33 PM ^
Not Lyme disease. He’s referring to residual symptoms after Lyme disease treatment which many think are factitious.
January 19th, 2020 at 8:53 PM ^
I know a number of people who have had Lyme disease and one person who studies it's main vector (ticks) and while some have recovered from the disease more completely than others, most claim they or someone they know have residual effects. Some of it seems to be based on when the treatment is administered (the longer a person goes untreated the more severe the symptoms), and some if it is just based on the person. But the OP acts like these illnesses are some combination of psychosomatic delusions and laziness, and that's just a really dumb and misinformed take.
January 21st, 2020 at 7:44 AM ^
I’ve had physician friends tell me the same thing, and as a cell biologist I’ve done some reading on most of these “diseases” and have come to a similar conclusion.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:44 PM ^
If CBT is helpful how is it likely autoimmune? Seems psychological if CBT helps, by definition.
January 19th, 2020 at 7:51 PM ^
CBT helps people cope with stress, which can potentiate autoimmune and inflammatory conditions such as IBD etc.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:29 AM ^
As The Cube mentions, stress can have a significant impact on ones physical health because it causes sleep issues, hormone imbalances, etc. And it goes both ways obviously: ones physical health can have an impact on stress levels. And there can be a vicious cycle.
Most people think physical health problems are only caused by external factors/infections or genetics but ones mental health has a big impact. There is still a lot about the brain, nervous system, endocrine system and their interaction with each other and our bodies that we don't know about.
Good chance that in hundreds of years we'll look back on the way we thought about mental health in 2020 similar to the way we thought about physical health in 1820 when humans had no idea what bacteria or viruses were.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:28 PM ^
It is absolutely accepted as a medical condition but one that doesn't have a single source. It's listed on the CDC site, for example.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:36 PM ^
There's a reason why his ER bills are through the roof. They'll charge you out the ass for showing up over and over and making them run bullshit tests on a condition that is completely psychological. Which is where the whole GoFundMe thing doesn't make sense. The management of a depressive disorder doesn't come close the charges accrued by the pursuit of an official CFS/ME diagnosis. The money donated is basically thrown away.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:41 AM ^
i don’t know the first thing about cfs but this is an all-time dumb take. have you or a loved one had to go to an er lately? it’s ridiculously expensive for anyone (or their insurer). they don’t charge extra if they think you’re faking something; it costs what it costs - which is a lot
January 19th, 2020 at 6:01 PM ^
Yes, the guy who took advantage of one of the most loyal fanbases you can find, then proceeded to block many of those who helped him.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:10 PM ^
How did he take advantage of people? He said
1.) I have this condition, that ebbs and flows and is at a point now where I can’t work
2.) I’m hoping to use this time off to get better, rest and see some professionals.
3.) I hope to be back when I can.
all of those things happened.
January 19th, 2020 at 6:13 PM ^
Pretty sure the post was about raising money for treatment and cost of living expenses. Large amounts of the money was spent elsewhere.
If you ask me, that's taking advantage of someone.
You also skipped the part where he blocked contributors for no apparent reason. That happened.
