It is a little known concert venue that used to exist in Ann Arbor.

...where did you find that! And to think, saving 50 cents by buying both concerts was motiviating. I bought both and do not remember saving 50 cents. Hot Tuna was great.

A friend of mine brought back one of the handbills, so I knew it existed. A quick search located the pic. I will add you to the list of people I hate forthwith!

There's a Chrysler Room on North Campus. I think it's in the Duderstadt Center.
February 23rd, 2014 at 7:35 PM ^
Seperate buildings actually, the Chrysler Center is between Pierpont and the Dude
February 23rd, 2014 at 10:21 PM ^
Yeah, that's what I thought, but I didn't really know where the Dude "officially" ended. I guess that long hallway between PC and the Dude doesn't count as the Dude.

Value City Arena holds 18,809. Still 50% larger than Crisler, but bigger arenas aren't always louder - the noise can dissipate more. Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium only holds 9K and it's obviously crazy.
February 23rd, 2014 at 7:27 PM ^
but Breslin is an incredible home court advantage. Have you been there? It's loud as heck and always rocking.
February 23rd, 2014 at 7:36 PM ^
twice. It is a crazy place to watch your team get run out of. I was there last year and the year before that. I chose not to go this year, big mistake.

Found this post interesting while laughing at the butt-hurt sparties on rcmb-
Have you been there recently? That concourse alone blows the Breslin away. It sucks to admit but I was actually impressed with how nice it was today

Good to hear. I'm sure basketball recruits, and even our football recruits notice how nice Crisler is, and how Michigan is not afraid to spend money on facility upgrades. Now, sending the band to a game in Dallas, that's another story.

Crisler is definitely nicer now. Breslin was once considered state-of-the-art but now that it's about 25 years old, it's starting to look a bit dated, kind of like the Palace.

Were you at Crisler today? It was a madhouse. I would stack up that atmosphere with any in the country.

There is always going to be subjectivity in comparing one arena to another, but considering that Michigan is something like 45-4 at home the last three years, our fans are doing something right.

I bet it has nothing to do with the wonky ball we use at home and is totally caused by our fans.
February 23rd, 2014 at 9:28 PM ^
And yet, Sparty has three home losses to our two, and has needed overtime to win two other games, despite playing an easier home schedule than us. If their fans are really bringing it every night, their team must be crappier than we think.

I believe you underestimate the atmosphere at Michigan. In big games, there is not a tougher place in the country to play. Period!

I was at the Wisconsin game. The crowd made a lot of noise in the second half. You couldn't hear yourself when it was a 3-point game. In the first half it was quieter, but the team was so out of it that few crowds were going to be energized in that situation.
February 24th, 2014 at 9:38 AM ^
Have you and GRBlue been to a similar number of games against middling teams at Breslin?
February 23rd, 2014 at 7:44 PM ^
Don't forget, despite their lack of recent contention, Assembly Hall in Champaign (now State Farm Center) is still pretty damn loud and a fantastic arena to watch a basketball game. The Orange Krush is a firmly organized and noisy student section/campus organization.

I taped the game and just finished watching it. At what would have been the end of the game I got a text from a friend and two missed calls. So I turned my phone off and enjoyed the ass-whooping a few hours late.

Crisler has been pretty raucous for a few years now - and it reflects in our home record under Beilein. People who think it's like a library either haven't been to a game in awhile or have only gone to one of the nonconference cupcake ones.

Massey keeps its own statistical estimste of home field advantage as it relates to basketball, and although it is for purposes of making a guess at score margins and estimated probabilities, the sort on HFA is interesting in the Big Ten right now.
It isn't based on arena, of course, but performance - Nebraska is on top right now, followed by Purdue and Minnesota. Statistically, Michigan would ring in at fourth and Michigan State would be second to last. What is interesting about that is that it rather mirrors their typical rating for football, making both Breslin and Spartan Stadiums as close to a statistically "neutral site" game as you get in the Big Ten. It is an interesting phenomenon.
