Shea Patterson appealing for a 5th year?
There are some rumbling of Shea trying to get eligibility for a 5th year. I was kind of looking forward to moving on from him this next season, not sure how I feel...
Whats your take on this? Maybe he builds on his last 3 1/2 games and becomes the qb we all though we had from day 1

Rumblings or wishful thinking nonsense on boards/twitter?
December 8th, 2019 at 2:35 PM ^
Exactly. This is a made up post.
December 8th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
So you're not applying for a 5th year?
December 8th, 2019 at 6:52 PM ^
The 5th and 6th years have already been approved.
... at Michigan State! They ain’t got noooobody good at QB!
December 8th, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
For the record, a current player told me this exact same thing verbatim in a private conversation. Having an outstanding 5th year senior qb is unquestionably a good thing. If he comes back and someone beats him out for the job, that is even better.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:18 PM ^
Does this current player approve of you taking this “private conversation” public?
December 8th, 2019 at 3:24 PM ^
He never told me no too, but I am going to honor the relationship and not disclose his identity. Very umbig11 of me, I admit.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
An outstanding QB would not be at a school for more than 3 years.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:27 PM ^
Well, this outstanding QB could only potentially be at Michigan for a maximum of 3 years if we are lucky.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:57 PM ^
Tom Brady says hi.
December 8th, 2019 at 7:53 PM ^
Andrew Luck says hello as well.
December 8th, 2019 at 8:31 PM ^
That might be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this blog. Congrats.
December 9th, 2019 at 3:58 PM ^
Tell that to Mofo Tom Brady
December 8th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
Did he elaborate as to how Shea could get a 5th year? The four-game rule isn't retroactive, so that can't be it. Is this even possible?
December 8th, 2019 at 4:34 PM ^
The theory is that he would appeal to make it retroactive in his case. A logical corollary would be that if the NCAA hears his appeal and grants it, that would effectively make it retroactive for everyone.
I have no idea if the rumor is true, but that's the rationale that's being given. I think it would almost certainly not work, given that there are reports that the NCAA isn't happy about how the 4-game rule is being used (for example, players shutting it down when their team gets off to a bad start in the first 4 games), so if they're in the process of considering changes to the rule, it seems messy to make it retroactive.

I feel like a 5th year of Shea would lead to some transfers. Think one of Dylan or Milton would be gone.
Im honestly excited to see what our two younger QBs can do. Shea finished pretty strong this year but ive been itching for Dylan and that athleticism to take the wheel.
December 8th, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
Shea only played in 3 games as a true freshman. By today's current standards he could be redshirted.
Seems worth his while if he wishes to pursue it.
December 8th, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
Age discrimination. Penalizing the older players for a rule allowing younger players to play in more games.
December 8th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
I’ll gladly take any starter back, that could go pro, that wants to come back and finish what they’ve started. #beatohio2020
December 8th, 2019 at 3:26 PM ^
Agree. 90 to 95 % of the time - unless the kid is a top 5, five star recruit that can't miss - I'll take a returning starter every time
December 8th, 2019 at 3:30 PM ^
Especially a returning starter who was also a top 5 five star recruit...
December 8th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
Wow! Awesome, I think, but.....maybe not?
December 8th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
If so , will Milton and Dylan say bye bye ?
December 8th, 2019 at 2:42 PM ^
If, and I use a very strong if, Patterson returned I would think it only affects McCaffrey. Could actually be looked at as a positive for Milton. Patterson would for sure.be in his last year and would be the odds on favorite to win the position the next year. Where if McCaffrey is the QB next year he could be there for several years.
December 8th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
Man, that's tough. He looked like a straight-up assassin in the last few games of the year, but what does that do for our QB room? I have to believe someone would transfer.
December 8th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
Yup. 4/24 for 55 yards in the 2nd half vs OSU. Straight up assassin.
December 8th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
Correction: he was like 14/24 but ten of those hit receivers with stone hands.
December 8th, 2019 at 2:58 PM ^
You are missing some context there. There were more than a couple dropped passes and by the 4th quarter they changed the offense to try to score quickly, which allowed for much more pressure that significantly impacted his ability to complete passes.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:02 PM ^
Dude can't throw it AND run downfield to catch it himself.

December 8th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
Did you watch the game? Or did you just look at the box score?
December 8th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
I absolutely did watch it. In fact, I’ve watched it a few more times on tape.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:25 PM ^
The only way you’ve watched that game “a few times” is if you’re a buck nut. Trolls gunna troll
December 8th, 2019 at 5:48 PM ^
look at the join date and the username, it's an unfortunate reference to JOK. Don't feed the troll.

Tape?

December 8th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
Someone is transfering either way.
If by chance Shea did come back then Dylan transfers. If Shea leaves and Dylan is the starter then Milton is out.
This is nonsense. Carry on.
December 8th, 2019 at 6:39 PM ^
We better get use to it as the Portal has changed everything. QB depth is probably a thing of the past for all CF teams. We're seeing it happen to OSU this year. They're extremely deep everywhere but at QB and that's a real problem for them right now when Matthew Baldwin transferred out when Fields came in. Fields has not been the same - against us and Wisconsin last night - since he sprained his knee but they really don't that Cardale Jones backup to turn to this time. They'll get beat by Clemson if that knee doesn't heal up in the next three weeks. And it's not just OSU.
December 9th, 2019 at 7:37 AM ^
And it's not just OSU
It burned Alabama. You think Tide fans aren't miffed at seeing Jalen Hurts lead OU into the playoffs?
December 8th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
He's a better option than either Dylan or Joe, so I'd be happy to have him back. Harbaugh must think so too or he wouldn't support this (if true).
December 8th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
No thanks, Pattersoft
December 8th, 2019 at 2:37 PM ^
Poor guy. It's obvious that you're deeply afflicted by Shea Patterson failing you so personally over the past couple of seasons. It must be really hard to get out of bed with the torment going on inside your head. Thoughts and prayers, big guy.
December 8th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
Personally, I get out of bed just fine knowing how average of a QB Patterson is.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:47 PM ^
Wait, are you and Michwolve21 the same?
December 8th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
Well, he played in only three games in 2016, but they were at the end of the season and he'd have to claim an injury, right? Seems improbable.
