RUMOR: Fields has a broken thumb and hasn't practiced this week
Again, this is a RUMOR. However, Fields did hurt his hand/wrist during the game, and could be seen grimacing several times throughout the day. Could be a massive development.

Broken Thumb is going to be the least of his worries Saturday. The D front 7 will be coming out guns a blazing.. and if we got to see a cornerback blitz sack i'd be cool with that (reminiscent of old Chuck Woodson)
November 26th, 2019 at 2:24 PM ^
It's only Tuesday
November 27th, 2019 at 12:51 AM ^
Yeah, because broken bones heal in 4 days.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
A perfectly executed trick by Ryan Day, I will believe nothing until game day.
November 26th, 2019 at 5:05 PM ^
Wait, we're talking about Ryan Day, so.....
November 26th, 2019 at 2:47 PM ^
I believe during the game they mentioned it was his left hand thumb. Would explain why he didn't have trouble throwing, but did holding onto the ball.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
My understanding is that a non-throwing-hand thumb injury makes it very difficult to receive a snap under center without pain. It doesn't matter so much out of shotgun, however.
November 26th, 2019 at 3:07 PM ^
If he has trouble gripping the ball and the weather is going to be wet all game, that could be interesting...
November 26th, 2019 at 3:58 PM ^
Ryan Day would not be capable of that kind of abstract thinking.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
I want umich to win. But might feel a little hollow if those cooler pooping rats get to chirp about not having fields. I guess day doesn’t know how to manage his qb roster. What a fucking loser
edit: totally agree, I don’t care if they trot out Brutus. But it’d be sweeter if we beat fields. Beggars can’t be choosers I suppose
November 26th, 2019 at 2:29 PM ^
No OSU fan is giving back wins over horrible RR and Hoke teams. I don't care if Ryan Day's grandma is playing QB, I just want to see Michigan beat them.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
The way OSU rolls out backup QBs, Day’s granny would probably throw for like 400 yards.
November 26th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
Have you seen their qb roster?
November 26th, 2019 at 4:16 PM ^
Doesn't matter. Either Fields will sprout a new, better thumb or the backup will play like Lamar Jackson.
November 26th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
Their brand new walk-on from this week, Daaron Rahgers.
November 26th, 2019 at 5:35 PM ^
I think his grandma has a year of eligibility left! Let's Go!
November 26th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
Have you seen Day's granny escape the pocket? Or the laser downfield while being crushed by blitzing linebacker? If you haven't you are missing out. If Fields can't go I want ANYBODY but Day's grandma.
November 26th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
Back in my day she was only 6'2, 185.. still drove that mack truck though..
November 26th, 2019 at 6:30 PM ^
Grandma took a bribe from an agent and is coming off of a 2 game suspension. The original suspension was 4 games but we all knew she would never be out for The Game.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:31 PM ^
I couldn't care less what OSU QB trots out there. Let me know when OSU gives back the 2007 game because Henne's shoulder was dead, or the game where DG broke his foot, or the game where Denard's elbow was screwed up, or the game where we started JOK
November 26th, 2019 at 2:51 PM ^
Exactly, wasn't Henne hurt for the 2005 game as well?
We lost 25-21 in a game we were leading 21-9 I believe. So if Fields is injured I don't feel sorry for them at all.
So many games against them in this century were lost because they had better QB play, even when the backup came in like Cardale and Haskins.
Besides, the fact that Fields was eligible to play because someone supposedly said something racial to him is some kinda BS. Not the racial part, always not cool but that that was the supposed reason seems like such a reach.
November 26th, 2019 at 3:52 PM ^
JT Barrett kind of lowkey sucked (by OSU standards). He wasn't a very accurate passer and was OK as a runner but not really a gamebreaker. He never really did much against us. His getting knocked out in 2014 and '17 games was probably a bad break for us and good for them. (I don't think they beat Bama in '14 with Barrett at QB, either.)
November 26th, 2019 at 5:00 PM ^
Yeah, good call by you, since Troy Smith he is probably the worse of the bunch for them.
November 26th, 2019 at 6:52 PM ^
Ohio State scores against Don Brown in regulation with JT Barrett:
2016:
2 play 13 yard TD drive after a Wilton Speight interception and a number of penalties
13 play 77 yard FG drive that would have been a 3 and out if not for a terrible PI call
2017:
11 play 75 yard TD drive that saw Khaleke Hudson have a terrible holding call called on him on what would have been 3rd and 10 AND had Josh Metellus drop an INT right in his hands.
3 play 53 yard TD drive. Really the only successful drive that Ohio State had in 1.75 games with JT Barrett against Don Brown that wasn't aided by officiating.
November 26th, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
JT Barrett may not have been as skilled, but the guy never missed a post snap read in the running/option game. He still should have been the loser in '16 along with the rest.
November 26th, 2019 at 3:34 PM ^
...or speight's shoulder. we didn't attempt a pass over 20 yards.
November 26th, 2019 at 6:34 PM ^
I recall a year that their first string QB was injured just before the season started, then we injured their second string when they were playing us just to lose to their 3rd string who went on to win the natty for them. When can we develop or recruit those kind of QBs? Hasn't our best QBs of recent memory come from transfers? Besides Fields, I think they have recruited and developed all of theirs.
November 26th, 2019 at 7:24 PM ^
So would mgoblog be any happier on one of those alternate timelines?
November 26th, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
I see many different takes here and I feel that some may get lost in that the play on the field is mostly affected by preparation among other things. Of course it helps to have a culture created from the coaches to put the kids in the best position they can be put in. I guess I'm wondering if anyone feels if changes need to be made with the staff, win or lose this weekend. Or does a win or loss even matter? The point is how much longer does the university put up with losing to them? What is the narrative if blue wins? What is the narrative if blue loses? One of the 2 will happen.
November 27th, 2019 at 12:32 AM ^
See, why do trolls join just to super subtly make a bunch of anti-UM and anti-Harbaugh comments? It's a weird approach for sure. I get not wanting to be so obvious as to be outed but it's like so subtle that it really doesn't accomplish the purpose.
November 26th, 2019 at 8:20 PM ^
throw in the 2016 Speight game where he didn't practice supposedly after the iowa game injury and then played mediocre to shitty at OSU where we still almost beat them
November 26th, 2019 at 2:36 PM ^
As had been said, there are no asterisks next to any win. No one gave a shit our team was ailing last year. All they care about is who won.
Whether or not he’s out, all that matters is the final score.
Fuck those guys!
Go Blue!
November 26th, 2019 at 2:42 PM ^
I’ll slap my damn self. Talcum powder
But ill also say there is nothing wrong with wanting to beat them with fields. I never used the word asterisk, I just said might be a little hollow to me if they have anything to chirp about.
November 26th, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
I'm still waiting for them to apologize for beating Nick Sheridan.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
Neither Fields nor Young should be eligible per NCAA rules, so even with one of them out things still aren’t right.
November 26th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
This is the correct answer.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
This is about as smart as those people last year who didn’t want Ohio state to lose to Maryland the week before The Game. “We want it to be for the big ten title, blah, blah, blah”. How’d that work out?
November 26th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
Im usually for the Buckeyes winning the game before they play Michigan. Coming out after a bad loss they're going to be extra pissed off with serious motivation to make a statement. I think a 1 loss Buckeye team is more dangerous than an undefeated one.
November 26th, 2019 at 5:01 PM ^
And many fans are profoundly ignorant in these regards too.
November 27th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
They can neg you, but you are right and they are wrong. OSU beating PSU last week and clinching the B!G championship before playing us is better for us than the reverse. Truth. If just a few young players in the back of their minds think we are in the title no matter what they do Saturday and that impacts their play (which happens ALL the time) then that is good.
November 26th, 2019 at 3:49 PM ^
You don’t understand this rivalry and/or haven’t watched The Game this century.
November 26th, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
A win against an injured Fields would be hollow? Are you serious?
The only thing hollow is their Buckeye souls.
I've never seen a single Buckeye put an asterisk next to their win over 3rd string OKorn or next to broken foot Gardner.
Any win over OSU is HUGE considering the past 15 years.
November 26th, 2019 at 7:29 PM ^
The Buckeyes do well for a crooked program
November 26th, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
Why? How many times have they beaten us either without our QB or with a severely damaged QB?
Seriously, FUCK OSU!
November 26th, 2019 at 6:07 PM ^
Why would you bother to care what an OSU fan thinks? They can't be reasoned with. I'll take a win anyway we can get it!
November 26th, 2019 at 6:07 PM ^
edit: double post shenanigans
November 26th, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
Disagree.. we had JOK two years ago
