Michigan State RESPEKT thread

Submitted by BlueInGreenville on November 10th, 2019 at 7:46 AM

After years of disrespekting the hallowed institution that is Michigan State University, Coach Mark Dantonio harnessed the rightful indignation of the heavens and south central Michigan to beat us 8 times in 10 tries from 2008 to 2017, running MSU's record against Michigan to an impressive 36-70 all time.  Starting last year, Michigan fans unwound decades of disrespekt by publicly posting respectful messages about MSU on various interwebs message boards, and Michigan won a hard fought battle on both sides last year, with absolutely no bush league moves from either side, 21-7.

In the same spirit as last year, I'd like to kick off this week, where we'll be playing one of our three biggest rivals, by being respektful to Michigan State.  So MSU, I like the new neon green accents on the uniforms and think it's jazzy and handsome.  It's both retro (80's exercise culture) and a bold statement on the future of your institution.  A future, I'm sure, that will include far fewer extremely isolated incidents of sexual assault, rape, PED abuse, lying to investigators and the like.  We respekt you MSU.  You are respekted.

It’s better than hoke and rr and the best downs we got from them.

MSU is maniacal about this game. We aren’t. Hence the scripted drives. Hence them almost always punching above their weight.

do you want us to treat MSU like they do us? Have that be almost the sole focus of our season?

Oh I understand the concept, I grew up in this state, I know this game means everything to them in a way it doesn't to us. The only reason I care more about beating them than most teams is I live here and they're irritating and so losing to them sucks. I'm just frustrated by the fact that Harbaugh going 0-3 at home against them would be shrugged off by the administration in much the same way the likely 0-5 against OSU will be, so it really needs to not happen but I won't be shocked if it does.

You know, that might be the most jarring thing about the change of fortune in East Lansing - the parts of the game that I did watch were coached by a directionless staff and it was clear that, whatever they were selling these kids, that there weren't many customers buying it. Such a change from even a few years ago, although arguably the precursors to the slide could be seen in 2015-2016 or thereabouts.

So, Sparty students were heckling someone else for being a Michigan Reject?

I respekt that Danimals has taken the opportunity to tarnish his legacy at every possible step instead of having the common sense to escape a dumpster fire after the first pile of dirty diapers went up in flames (3-9)

Wouldn't be as fun beating up on some 40 year old assistant than it is to reestablish the fact that the greatest msu coach of all time is still inferior to Michigan

I don’t know what is going on at MSU, but over the last 40 years it has gone from a decent institution that was a big rival in a respectful way to an insane asylum that ignores sexual deviants, covers up for criminal athletes, is unhealthily obsessed with beating Michigan . . . and wears some of the worst football uniforms ever.  Too much administrative inbreeding, perhaps; no one to bring a new or different perspective to what is going on.

There was a comment somewhere, that Lewerke may have been concussed.  If so...did they continue to play him concussed?

Viewers think Lewerke may have been concussed on a diving run where his head bounced off a player's knee.  The very next play he threw a really bad interception, furthering the idea that his brain might have been pretty scrambled at that point.

Michigan State can use their go-to playbook here.

Media: Hey did you guys do a bad thing?

MSU: No we didn't do a bad thing.

Media: Because it seems like...

MSU: Here's a picture of Tom Izzo petting a kitten.

Media: Awww kittens!  There's my story for tomorrow's paper!

From 247: Lewerke said “I’m fine” Saturday night, adding “my head was ringing for a little bit.”

“It was a tough hit. Definitely rung my bell for a little bit. I think I was fine,” he said.

MSU head coach Mark Dantonio said Lewerke was evaluated by the medical staff after the collision.

“He seemed to be (feeling OK). We checked him,” Dantonio said.

On the next play, Lewerke misfired inside on a throw intended for White, who was breaking to the outside. Illinois safety Sydney Brown made an easy interception and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown to cut MSU’s lead to 31-30.

1) The hit was brutal and he clearly dropped the ball on impact.  That's what people do when, you know, they're concussed.

2) Lewerke sounds exactly like someone who was concussed and didn't come out.  I think I was fine = not sure, and they have to get him out.  The TE was waving for medical staff to come out on the field.

3) The crack EL media (those guys that discovered the Nassar story in their backyard after an Indianapolis paper broke it, and kept their mouths shut on MSU's captain being suspended for their first Rose Bowl in XXty years) jumped right on that Dantonio response there, asking him when he was checked out.  Like right then, coach?  Because right then he stayed in the game and threw a terrible pass, like a guy might if he didn't know what was going on?  Or did you mean like 10 or 20 minutes later or after the game?  Oh no wait they did not ask that.  Feary of the terrible scowl!

I respect - not respekt - how their players answer questions and man up to the fact that they sucked, while their arrogant fuckwad of a prick coach snarls "next question" at anything that implies he's anything less than a hero.

I just appreciate the way they've made an honest accounting of their institution and themselves, acknowledged they have made mistakes, worked hard to make their atonement proportional to the actual harms, and are now doing their best to move on.

I respect that they are a school of the people. Affordable football tickets and admission standards to allow anybody in. Good for the common man.

MSU will play tough on Saturday.  This game has high implications inside and outside their program.  I expect them to find some ‘fixes’ to their problems in 7 days and put a working game plan out there next Saturday.  Gonna be a battle.

It’s against my nature, but here goes.

MSU has arguably the best 4 game losing streak in the country.

MSU’s coach has received lots of criticism but I hope he stays for many years to come.

I respekt the fact that they’re aware of their carbon footprint. Donk’tanio should be commended for likely throwing the Illinois game so his team can finish 6-6 and go bowling in Detroit. Location is close and they won’t have to fly anywhere therefore cutting down on carbon emission. Say what you will about MSU but somethings are more important than winning.

I RESPEKT Mike's D'Giornino pizza craftsmanship. His frozen pizzas are among the best at the grocery store. Some say Mike's pizzas are even better than Freschetta.
