OT: Classic Detroit Lions
Is there anything more predictable than the Lions finishing a typically shitty season by winning in Green Bay 31-0? Knowing the stellar decision making the Lions are known for, they will probably think that Pep on the sidelines was the difference and hire him to replace Jim Bob.
A man can hope....

Yay! Who needed a young impact defensive player anyway!
December 30th, 2018 at 6:18 PM ^
They can still get one.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
They'll probably be able to take Gary at 8.
December 30th, 2018 at 8:57 PM ^
I hope they don’t Gary has all the tools to be a monster but the light never went on at Michigan. If he moves inside it’s gonna take him several years before his presence is felt.
December 30th, 2018 at 9:10 PM ^
They may also be able to get him in the 2nd round.
I have no idea where Gary will be drafted.
December 30th, 2018 at 5:47 PM ^
Also this truly meaningless less win may have cost them 5-6 spots in the nfl draft, great job lie-downs!!!
December 30th, 2018 at 6:18 PM ^
Makes little difference where they pick. They're no good at it anyway.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:19 PM ^
Dude, they are picking 8th. Impact guys can had there and throughout the first two days.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:28 PM ^
Your a fucking idiot if you think professionals should lose on purpose. Shut the fuck up you dumb ass!
December 30th, 2018 at 6:31 PM ^
How's your Sunday going?
December 30th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
Obviously really good!
December 30th, 2018 at 8:00 PM ^
Look at his posting history. This dude has some severe anger issues.

December 30th, 2018 at 10:36 PM ^
They're the "LIedOwNS", to be more accurate.
December 30th, 2018 at 5:48 PM ^
Well they did knock Aaron Rodgers out. Idk, I had fun watching the game
December 30th, 2018 at 5:59 PM ^
There were a couple fun moments:
1) Prater threw a perfect pass for a TD on a fake field goal.
2) Clay Mathews went skipping and dancing into the Lions backfield, pointing at a Lion that had false started. Mathews was flagged for encroachment.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:01 PM ^
I remember this comment and thought of bringing it up, but I couldn't remember who posted it! Wouldn't shock me if it happened.
December 30th, 2018 at 9:44 PM ^
Pretty sure "shitcanned" is one word.
December 30th, 2018 at 5:50 PM ^
I can’t believe they played Stafford.
Idiots
December 30th, 2018 at 5:53 PM ^
Yea verily.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:00 PM ^
Sucks 2 teams that beat us drafting ahead of us. Lions being Lions.
8th should still get us a good player.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:05 PM ^
Classic lie downs move is to lose all season, have no shot at the playoffs and then win meaningless games at the end of the season thereby screwing themselves out of high draft picks.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:20 PM ^
They still have a high draft pick.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:18 PM ^
On one hand, FTP. Rogers can't play forever, let the hits pile up. Packers deserve 30 years of terrible QB play.
On the other hand, they're not drafting as high anymore but you know some teams are going to reach for a QB and other highly touted players will fall because of it.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:58 PM ^
And if the Lions had a higher pick, they might be tempted to draft one of the over valued QBs
December 30th, 2018 at 6:23 PM ^
Lions “lost” three slots. They still have a great shot at an impact player.
It’a like people on here don’t understand how deep NFL drafts are. Every year impact players are found in all rounds.
It comes down to scouting.
December 31st, 2018 at 11:04 AM ^
Agree 100%, this drives me crazy. If you cant get an "impact guy" at 8 who's the say you will at 5? There is a lot of luck behind drafting as well otherwise there would never be a bust at the #1 overall spot.
Bottom line NFL teams play to win and make the best of whatever draft pick they get.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:23 PM ^
Spot on RM! Always win when it doesn't matter! Roooooar!
December 30th, 2018 at 6:25 PM ^
I HATE this organization. They can't do anything right... even losing.
I was very happy yesterday watching Alabama's Williams or Clemson's Ferrell yesterday thinking how nice they would look in Honolulu Bluewith our top 5 draft pick.
Now we will probably trade down now and take a punter from MSU.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:38 PM ^
Lions scouting is at historic levels of bad. Look for them to take Darko with the pick.
December 30th, 2018 at 8:28 PM ^
Charles Rogers isn't available?
December 30th, 2018 at 6:43 PM ^
Given the Lions' history..even a meaningless blowout win in Green Bay is probably enough of a good moment to make up for drafting a few picks later.
December 30th, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
Let see who they get at 8 first, and who they could have gotten at 5.
I am a Lion lifer at this what if game. check out http://www.tankathon.com/nfl
Mock picks....If we can get Ferrell at 8 I'd be happy. Ansah needs to go or cost a whole lot less.
Julian Love from ND would be a great second round pick.
Rashan Gary dropped a bit. Too much of a gamble for a top 10 pick IMO.
Devin Bush going to the Bears would be a great late 1st round pick for them and the Lions would never score on that defense.
December 30th, 2018 at 6:56 PM ^
It is pretty impressive to beat GB on the road and to shut them out 31-0. That must be some kind of record, given Detroit's dismal road game record at GB.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:16 PM ^
First shutout at Lambeau since 1970!
December 30th, 2018 at 8:03 PM ^
I was only 6 and was strictly a Michigan fan back then. So I don't remember that game. But I do remember watching the 5-0 Dallas playoff loss at my Grandparents house, with My Dad, Grandfather and 3 other uncles. I'd have to say I did not get interested in following the Lions until I was 8.
December 30th, 2018 at 8:19 PM ^
Hard fought game. I remember Earl McCullugh ripping his helmet off and throwing it down the field as time expired. At least I think it was Earl M. Long time ago.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:12 PM ^
The OP has a shitty point of view and I hope he doesn’t consider himself a Lions fan. Yes they suck and have screwed up royally with some draft picks but tanking to improve your spot when you’ll already get a top 10 pick is the definition of loserdom. In the words of Herm Edwards, “you play to win the game” and this team needed something to feel good about. Even if it was against a hapless, Aaron Rodgers-less Packers team.
So OP, please don’t take the easy way out and shit on a team/fan base that already knows it sucks and is trying to just play football.
December 30th, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
Hear, hear!
December 30th, 2018 at 8:09 PM ^
The lions could have been in the playoff race if Mathew did not have a few bad games. They should have beaten the Jets and 49ers. I think if Matt did not throw the pick 6 against Chicago at home on T-day, we have won. Even though they finished 6-10, they should have been 9-7. I guess I'm more optimistic about the Lions being in playoff contention next season.
December 30th, 2018 at 11:44 PM ^
I didn't say a word about tanking!
December 30th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
Winning today will be a good thing, in the long run. The 5th pick in the 2018 draft signed for $27.6 million .The 8th pick signed for $18.7 million . I would much rather have the 8th pick . Top 5 get the big deals .
December 30th, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
+1
I was thinking along these same lines earlier. Didn't have the exact info, but knew there was quite a difference.
December 31st, 2018 at 12:29 AM ^
Is it your money? screw the Fords. It’s jot like we are great with the salary cap. That extra 10 million will probably go to Matt Stafford eventually anyways. I hate them.
December 30th, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
Wouldn’t matter anyway they’ll screw the draft up no matter where they draft, Bob Quinn drafted a long snapper once the draft yes a long snapper I don’t need to say anymore!
December 31st, 2018 at 12:27 AM ^
You’re right, but still. I hate them.
